I’m back from Paris and a bit teary-eyed. Today is our first day in the office without Whitney by our sides and we can’t help but miss her emails and jokes. (But we’re so incredibly happy for her at the same time! We even threw her a Big Apple Goodbye Party.) We don’t doubt though, that reviewing our fun posts from the past week will perk us up.

The Southern essential, burlap took over our blog this week! Entries for our Ultimate Southern Challenge came in and we’re smitten with the results. For instance, Cedarwood Weddings + Kristyn Hogan‘s submission here.

Events Uncorked‘s cute burlap bow tie here.

Tying the Knot’s + Greer G. Photography’s creations here.

Rebecca Rose Events + Amy Lynne Originals put together a project with burlap and glitter here.

Newlyweb Lauren + Dodeline Design‘s invitation suite here.

Formal Fringe‘s creative guest book alternative here.

Sweet Tea Photography + Petal’s Edge Floral Design put together lovely burlap details here.

Y’all. Big News. We’re giving away a vacation!! In celebration of our wonderful Honey List spots, One Ocean Resort and Spa is providing our winner with a three-night weekday stay. See this post for more details.

Emily
filled us in on her wonderful wedding videographers and how she fit them into her budget.

This week’s Southern Delicacy is one we can thank Thomas Jefferson for! Chicken and waffles has been a staple ever since he brought home a waffle iron from France!

We were happily reminded of Non + KG’s romantic pink and green wedding when they became this week’s featured Real Wedding Gallery.

We love weddings, yes we do!

The purple colors and scroll details in Rebecca + Colin’s wedding were elegant and Southern! See it here.

The soft pink blooms and BBQ sundaes at Christina + Scott’s wedding stole my heart! See it here.

Join us in giving our newest Blue Ribbon Vendors a Southern welcome! Howdy to Jessica Lorren, Tie that Binds, 5 Rings, Bourbon and Bloom, Nancy Ray, Orangerie Events, Hotel Monaco, Stems of Dallas, Amy Lynne Originals, Julie Cate, KLP Photography, Joe Bunn DJ Co, Blue Eyed Yonder and Natalie Franke! Vendors, want to join our family? Check out our new media kit here and email Marissa!

Want another chance to win a vacation? Like Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives and submit a photo of you and your beau for a chance to win! See their Facebook for more info.

Before we go, we want to send giant hugs to our reader, Beka, who wrote the sweetest blog post about us the other day!

Have a splendid weekend, friends!

Yeehaw for the weekend, y’all! I desperately need to restock my fridge and pantry, so I’ll be making a run to the grocery store. I’ll also need to think more seriously about what I’m going to put on the bulletin board above my desk because it’s looking mighty empty right about now. What are you fine readers doing this weekend?

In a few weekends to come, we’re hosting another Southern Weddings Yard Sale! This is going to be so much fun for everyone because it’s on St. Patrick’s Day! Are you a bride or vendor who wants to sell some of your gently used wedding items, too? Email me!

Did y’all eat your black-eyed peas on New Year’s? According to tradition, eating a spoonful of the beans gives you good luck and prosperity for the New Year, so we love seeing couples incorporate this Southern delicacy into their weddings!

We love seeing new paper collections and great collaborations come together. When MM Ink and Betsywhite Stationery got together, we were giddy! This great partnership saves you time and money. In celebration of their collaboration and our love for paper and calligraphy, we’re giving away a set of custom calligraphy thank you cards and gift tags! Enter here.

Emily was smitten when she spotted the lovely stationery suite made by Mr. Boddington for a couple marrying on Blackberry Farm. That’s a heckuva lot of Southern charm, y’all!

We’re hiring y’all
! We’re looking for a Corporate Advertising Account Manager. If this sounds like your cup of tea, we’d love to see you apply! Catch the details here — but hurry! We’re only accepting applications through March 1.

We love sparkly things around these parts, so Marissa’s post on the Southern Wedding Tradition of estate diamonds had us dreaming. Do any of y’all have estate jewelry?

We’d love to introduce you to some of our Blue Ribbon Vendor Directory members! Say howdy to Ali Harper, Anna Kirby, Cedarwood, Jessica Lorren, Millie Holloman Photography, and Renee Sprink!

Whitney might not be engaged, but we couldn’t help but take turns dreaming up some bridal shower inspiration for everyone! I envisioned a springtime garden party full of cake decorating and monograms for our dearest ad director.

This week’s featured Real Weddings Gallery was Bethany + Caleb! Their park nuptials were complete with the sweetest proposal story ever.

We like Real Weddings the way we like pie: Lots of ’em!

Darcy + John’s family-centered wedding was full of memorable and details and a lovely day-after shoot! See it here.

Jodi + Kurt’s V4 wedding was a treat for the eyes and full of tiny details that don’t go unnoticed! See it here and here.

Whitney + Nick’s NOLA wedding was perfect for Mardi Gras week and boasted some of that good ole Mississippi food and fun. See it here.

Good news is always welcome!

We love sweets around here! Magnolia Bakery is now offering delicious and freshly-baked desserts for your wedding, engagement party of wedding shower! Couples can choose from a selection of cupcakes and brownie and cookie assortments as well as individual favor boxes and cupcakes trees. The treats are all available for nationwide shipping! Southern Weddings Weekly Round-Up

Y’all I finally threw out my old 2011 calendar! Though I always forgot it was there, my desk does seem a bit emptier without it. Any suggestions on what to replace it with? I’m thinking a small milk glass vase and a pretty flower.

Amidst my desk-decorating crisis, we did put out quite a few features this week! A blast of citrus was a great way to start our morning. Emily’s Lemon Squeeze inspiration board has us dreaming of nuptials in a lemon grove.

We welcomed Southern Bride of the Month, Elizabeth to the blog! She’s planning a classic Georgia wedding with her fiance Joe.

We love seeing monograms in unexpected places. That’s why we thought the monogrammed flower girl sash in Emily’s Southern Spotting was adorable!

Bonus Southern Spotting this week! This romantic surprise breakfast was the perfect way to ease wedding day nerves without stepping on any traditions.

Emily walked us through her bouquet ideas as she plans her own wedding. Color, wild and usual elements, ribbon and blackberries are among her inspiration!

Camille + Mark’s V4 Real Wedding was an intimate gathering that boasted bright details. We love how the couple chose to go all out with the small touches! See their wedding here and here.

We rounded up the winners for our Design*Sponge at Home giveaway, our Heys USA giveaway and our CREAM event tickets giveaway! It’s like late Christmas!

This week’s featured Real Wedding Gallery was Meredith + John. We love how the couple chose floral accents that were ethereal and natural.

Real Weddings are the peanut butter to our jelly:

Elise + Matt’s pink and turquoise wedding was a glamorous affair complete with fireworks! See it here and here.

Good new for the weekend:

For you readers in the New York and Brooklyn area, Williamsbrides, an alternative, interactive wedding event, is taking place on February 12 at The Space at Fifty North Third in Williamsburg! Couples will get the chance to sample hors d’oeuvres and Brooklyn-inspired cocktails, enjoy live music performances and meet the talented New York wedding experts. For more information about the event and how to get tickets, visit their site.

If you’re in the Beverly Hills area, St. Pucchi will be having a bridal show at Panache Bridal Salon today through Sunday. Brides will have the opportunity to meet with the designer for a private consultation on Saturday and will receive a special discount on gowns. See Panache’s site for more information!

Hi there, vendors! Makeup artist, Pamela Lesch is looking to make one of her 2012 goals a reality. She wants to do makeup for an Asheville, NC wedding and be part of a team of professionals who helps make an Appalachian wedding into a dreamscape. We’ve worked with Pamela before on our Williamsburg Polo shoot and our Southern Exits shoot and we love her! Want to help out? Check out her blog post here.

Big hugs and shouts outs to the newest members of the Southern Weddings sponsor family, DawnCorrespondenceand Seaside Rental Agency and our newest Blue Ribbon Vendor Ben Sasso!

Have a lovely weekend, my friends! Who else is seriously considering a day trip to the beach like I am?

P.S. If you’re a winter person, add this event to your calendar: Blowing Rock, North Carolina is having their 14 annual Winterfest! Chili cook-offs and a polar bear plunge among other fun events — sounds like a blast!
