We had high expectations after our first Ultimate Southern Challenge, but y’all did not disappoint with round two! But before we announce the winner, we do have one very important piece of information to share:

Now, once again we were so impressed with the creative, crafty, and OH so Southern entries we received. It was tough to choose a winner, but using a combination of reader votes and editor opinions, we did reach a consensus!

Congratulations to Palm Papers + Catie Ronquillo! We adored their simple, but pretty brilliant, idea of sweet tea mason jars, and loved their suggestion of stacking the jars for a sweet and cost-effective centerpiece. Make sure you take another look at their fabulous idea here! You can also view more of Catie’s photography here, and Palm Papers’ work here!

Kudos also to our runners-up, Absolutely Fabulous Weddings. Check out their extremely unique project here!

And lastly, one more congratulations to ALL of our finalists — Carlee Sizemore + Leslie Kerrigan, Scobey Photography + Pretty Peachtree, and Nancy Ray + Erin McLean. We had tons of ideas sent in, so we hope you consider it an honor to be chosen as a finalist, because we certainly do!

Thank you again to all who participated! And stay tuned, because the next Ultimate Southern Challenge will be posted next week!! Suggestions for future challenges are welcomed below :)

Hey y’all! Our final submission is another collaboration between Palm Papers and photographer Catie Ronquillo, and this time, After Yes got in on the fun, too! I think this mason jar escort “card” idea would be perfect for an outdoor weddings, when actual cards would probably be blowing across the lawn before your guests even got to them!

From the ladies:

“Using small or large mason jars, fill with gumballs (from your local candy store) about 3/4 of the way full. Attach escort cards or tags to your pencils, and then fill each jar with 10-12 escort cards. We labeled our jars to make it easier for guests to find their names. Not into gumballs? Try lemon drops or red hots, and consider swapping out the pencils for paper straws guests can use in their drinks!”

Thank you so much, ladies! Readers, if you love this idea, let us know in the comments! And remember, you’re welcome to comment on more than one concept!

It looks like you used index cards for the tags around the mason jars but what did you use to make the name tags? Did you somehow print on just regular lined paper?

Our next delightful entry comes from Palm Papers and Catie Ronquillo. What could be sweeter or more Southern than a sweet tea favor? I like the simplicity of this idea, and I also like their suggestion of stacking for an easy, inexpensive, multipurpose centerpiece. Check below for all of the details!

From Catie:

“This submission is a collaboration between Lauren of Palm Papers and myself – we came up with a Sweet Tea Kit in a Mason Jar!” To assemble, simply fill each mason jar with a few sugar cubes, Lipton tea bags, and one small lemon (or other colorful fruit). Wrap each jar with a little baker’s twine (we love Divine Twine) and a small gift tag, and then give to guests as a sweet favor, or display on table tops as centerpieces or as part of the place setting to add a pop of color to your decor!”

Thank you so much, ladies! Readers, if you love this idea, be sure to let us know in the comments! And remember, you’re welcome to vote for more than one concept!

Hard choice in terms of my favorite use of a mason jar (being a HUGE fan of red velvet cake) but I’ve decided this one is my top choice because I like the idea that I could take this home and make myself a yummy jar full of tea from it – there’s just something about DIY projects that brings out the kid in me :-) There’s something wonderfully tactile about that nice texture-y lemon and those grainy sugar cubes too. It’s like having a little bit of summer captured in a jar!
