It takes a unique kind of gent to fit into the overly hug-y, intensely photo loving Southern Weddings clan, but Taylor has handled the role with aplomb ever since we met him. We’re so glad he and Nicole have found each other, and thrilled to have him as one of our Southern Gents. Ladies, please enjoy learning a bit more about Taylor!

Name: Taylor D. Adams
What is your job? Television Producer
Your Southern Weddings gal: The lovely and talented Nicole A. Yang.
How and when you became a Southern Weddings gent: We met at a mutual friends’ birthday weekend in Kitty Hawk, NC in 2012. She was the first person to greet me when I walked in the door. She stole my hat.
What is your favorite SW memory? Definitely the launch party for V5. It was my first introduction to the Southern Weddings world, and everyone was so awesome and welcoming to me. The food… ah, yes. The food was awesome.

What is the craziest thing you’ve done in the name of SW? I’ve worn a bow tie. Twice.
What contributions have you made to SW that people may not realize? I kind of forced my way into consulting on the Mason-Dixon Madness Southern Food bracket. Nicole let me look it over before it was posted, and I showed her how a seeding system could be utilized so only the best foods (or drinks) won. I was rooting for mac ‘n’ cheese.
What is something you shouldn’t know about weddings, but do, thanks to SW? That coral is not orange, and vice versa.
Have you ever been recognized by a stranger because of SW? I haven’t had the honor yet.

Graham Terhune

What percentage of your social media followers come from SW? .1%? Nicole has way more clout than I do. It’s hard to compete with SW fame.
What is the best thing about being an SW gent? The food. Definitely the food.
What is your least favorite thing about being an SW gent? Wearing bow ties.
If given the chance, would you become a Southern Weddings employee? I’d need to see a contract. No doubt there would need to be compensation in chicken and waffles, and an addendum on chess pie.

Anything else you want to add? It’s really impressive to see all the hard work these ladies do come to fruition once the issue comes out. It is a humbling experience to know how much effort and passion they put into SW.

Catch up with the rest of the Southern Gents!

What a cutie! It is so obvious how much he loves his SW lady. Absolutely adorable. Congratulations on finding such an incredible, special person. Many blessings to you both!

We just wrapped up our second Southern Weddings Volume 7 editorial shoot on Tuesday, so we thought now might be a good time to check in and report on our first shoot, which took place at the end of April! So many people wonder how, exactly, the magazine comes together with such a small staff. The answer boils down to relationships – we are so lucky to work with such talented folks! This time around we had Landon Jacob on hand for photography, Kelly from Philosophy Flowers on blooms, and LULA Hair & Makeup making everyone look beautiful (just to name a few!). Though everything came together perfectly on the day-of, this shoot was not without its hiccups in the run-up – leading to this (overly dramatic?) instagram photo we shared just days before:

Consider it our best attempt at a Scarlett O’Hara impression. In the end, though, our worries went unfounded, as we were rewarded with an absolutely gorgeous day – probably the prettiest one we’ve ever had for a shoot.

We tried something a little different for the cake this time around – we purchased a simple two-layer beauty from Whole Foods, then added our own decor. It turned out better than we expected, and we’re excited to share this totally doable idea in the magazine! Jordan captured the final result (just out of the frame!) beautifully.

Possibly my favorite moment of the day, though? I returned home, tired after many hours on my feet, only to turn around from putting things away to see my cat gleefully licking our cake!! Her eyes were practically closed, she was so happy. Well, at least we know it was delicious :)

We’ve been sharing snippets of magazine prep with a new hashtag on social media, #MakingSouthernWeddings – we hope y’all will find it fun to follow along! In the meantime, you can pick up past print editions in our shop to tide you over until November!

Before the we share the full Song of the Song editorial with you, we wanted to pop in and post a few behind the scenes snaps! We love seeing how editorials come together, especially for ones we weren’t on hand for, and hope y’all do, as well. We’re thankful to have these photos from Nancy Ray’s associate photographer, Callie!

For those of you who are wondering, that big white circle is a reflector. It’s used to bounce light around, which helps us get nice, even coverage for something like a stationery suite shot!

I think we can all agree that Amber is going to be one adorable mama (she already is, in fact!) — perhaps topped only by our own Marissa :)

Check back in just a little bit to see the rest of this editorial!

Britni Ramsey: Hi Britni! I actually borrowed the shirt from my sister, but I believe she got it from Anthropologie! Thanks for the sweet compliment :)
