Today is ALL about the Paper, Cotton, and Flour shoot from Southern Weddings V4 (which makes me really, really happy, because the PCF shoot is one of my very favorites from this issue!). We’re going to try something a little different, though, for this day-long extravaganza. First, we’ll show you the FUN behind-the-scenes video Inkspot Crow filmed for us, then we’ll share the final images from the shoot, and finally we’ll have an amazing giveaway featuring one of the fabulous details from the spread! Sound good? Let’s go!

MacKenzie + Philip are the husband and wife duo behind Inkspot Crow Films, and we had such a blast filming this behind-the-scenes peek way back on a hot, hot, hot North Carolina summer day. Things you should make sure to notice in their film?

1. Joey + Jessica are amazing, and wore outfits that matched the shoot’s color scheme.
2. I concentrate really hard when I arrange invitations, while Whitney appears to have a grand old time fluffing paper poms.
3. The flour mill really was DUSTY.

Enjoy!

We’ll be back with the final images soon! In the meantime, you can check out more of Inkspot Crow’s work on their blog and website, and be sure to check out their past SW feature right here!

I ADORE that first dress in the video. When I opened my V4 issue to that page, my heart almost stopped. I would wear that dress any day of the week if I had the opportunity! Love to see all the creativity going on in the shoot. Y’all rocked it’s socks!

We feel the same way, Ilana! I think it’s safe to say that dress is collectively one of our office’s favorite things about V4 :)

This issue was seriously inspiring, and the editorial was my favorite. I *love* how you managed to get the soft, subtle palette to provide so much color and elegance!

Very, very cool to see how everything comes together for the shoot – always wondered about that sort of thing! – and delighted to have been a part of it. Can’t wait to see the rest of today’s southern goodness!

As promised, I’m back with a mini preview of our latest V4 shoot! This time around we were shooting in lovely and historic Colonial Williamsburg. Just Sierra and I made the trip, which went pretty much according to plan except for that time we got semi-lost in the cornfields of Virginia and that other time a flash thundershower threatened to ruin our perfectly set table. Despite those two setbacks, it was a fabulous shoot! I can’t wait to share the final images in September, but until then, here’s a little behind the scenes look…

Gorgeous gardens and magical spots abound in Colonial Williamsburg! We took advantage of several different areas throughout the property on the day we were shooting.

On the left, you see Virginia-based photographer Katie Stoops hard at work making photographic magic. This should be another all-film shoot, thanks to the fine folks at Richard Photo Lab! I always find it amusing to see what’s just beyond the frame of a perfectly manicured shot, so on the right, you can see a small amount of the props, styling equipment, and other paraphernalia we were toting around all day.

Sierra’s going to be so mad at me for sharing this photo again (I already posted it on Twitter!), but I wanted y’all to see her in the makeup chair, even if she does look grumpy! (Which, for the record, she definitely was not.) Sierra took one for the team once again, posing as a bridesmaid along with two other Southern Weddings readers. On the left you can also spot Natalie, the makeup half of the fab hair and makeup duo Avenue 42. On the right is Courtney of Merriment Events, who had a huge role is bringing this shoot to life, both conceptually in the weeks beforehand and stylistically on the day-of. And all that, and about five months pregnant, to boot!

And that’s about that! You’ll have to wait until September to see the REALLY good stuff, and believe me, this shoot is packed full of fantastic ideas and custom details (if I do say so myself). I can’t wait to share!!

A few notes: we’re still accepting real weddings for print, and will be until July 15! See this post for all the details, then email Emily. If you’re interested in getting in on the V4 ad action (and oh, you want to be), just drop Whitney a line. She’ll get you taken care of!

Yes Emily, you are correct. That photo does not properly reflect me at all! I was focusing on something out the window. Probably George Washington walking down the street.

So glad y’all had a good experience in Williamsburg!!! It’s my second home and I can’t wait to see the whole shoot :)

You’re a lucky girl, Lisa!! Wiliamsburg is beautiful, the people are wonderful, and we loved spending time there!
