When you combine pretty pink, peach, and white Camilyn Beth dresses with sparky La Tavola linens and a beautiful backdrop compliments of the amazing Umstead Hotel, you get a lovely party. Add in a bow tie bar, the Hot Dog! Photo Booth, and few fun surprises, and you get one amazingly sweet Southern celebration! I am not quite sure how, but it seems that each year, our launch party gets better and better. We look forward to this special night for most of the year–after putting our hearts and souls into the pages of our latest issue, it is such a joy to celebrate with friends and family from near and far!

Big hugs to Millie Holloman and her team for all of these precious photos!

The amazing Rhiannon Bosse of Hey Gorgeous Events, a dear friend of Southern Weddings (and the mastermind behind the beautiful florals on the cover of V7), reached out soon after she returned home from the Bushel and a Peck shoot in August, asking what I thought about helping her surprise the rest of the team AND do the florals for the party in November. Of course, I was 100% on board! I can’t believe we managed to keep it a secret from everyone else for nearly three months.

Yes, this is Mr. Brandon Kloess, live and in person!!! After patiently waiting 4+ years to FINALLY meet our sweet Marissa’s darling gent in real life, we were thrilled for the chance to give him a million hugs and take photos to memorialize the special event. Of course, MAK + BDK’s darling Emerson wore her biggest bow and best party dress for the festivities. Aren’t they the cutest little family?

We pulled in a few reinforcements at check-in to give everyone ample time to celebrate. I spy sparkly letters that helped make the entry table lovely!

We also brought a fun and fancy “beau bar” to life with the help of our friends at High Cotton Ties, and set out some really amazing magnetic buttons from Belle & Union. Not having to poke holes in your party attire? The best!!

Before the doors opened at 7:30, we had a quick team huddle. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and fun, so it was important for us to take a few deep breaths and thank our lucky stars for the chance to hug 300+ friends and celebrate love, marriage, and all the peachy goodness of V7!

Once the doors opened, the hugs started flowing! Besides BDK, a few other special SW family members in attendance were Emily’s darling sister, Kim, who flew in from Boston, and my parents, who traveled up from Gastonia to finally meet the SW gals in person. It was a big ol’ SW family reunion!!

I told you the Hey Gorgeous blooms were swoon-worthy! I think we can also agree that James and the Eventful Furniture fellas outdid themselves. All the lounge spaces were amazing–the perfect combination of cozy meets posh!

There was no shortage of delicious bites and beverages, thanks to the amazing Umstead Hotel! We used the pages of V7 for inspiration and created a menu that left partygoers with happy hearts and full bellies. From mini chicken and waffles to bite-sized ham biscuits, there was a smorgasbord of Southern delicacies. The Umstead chefs pulled out all the stops–pulled pork sliders, sweet potato chips, mini chicken pot pies, and so much more! There was also plenty of Cheerwine and Cheerwine Holiday Punch on hand to help wash it all down.

Hopping on the stage and being able to personally thank all of our guests is always a highlight of our evening. Big hugs to Maghon Walker for being our Ustream Hostess, which let faraway friends join in the festivities. It is quite humbling to have the chance to express our gratitude and tell our story! I get a little teary all over again just thinking about that moment.

Lara’s darling daughter Grace (don’t you love seeing how much Gracie grows from launch party to launch party?) stole the show with her speech, which she had practiced for days–she thanked everyone for coming to her “lunch party!”

The Bloomsbury Boys definitely know how to work the room and include the guests in the fun! No one is surprised that I jumped at the chance to play the washtub, right?

Natalie of Chic Sweets and her darling husband traveled all the way from sunny Florida with a car full of treats to put together the prettiest pink dessert table. While there were takeaway bags with peachy stickers to make to-go bag for the road, I think most of the goodies were gobbled up during the evening! I can personally vouch for the cake pops, and I heard great things about the dipped Oreos (when I went to the sweets table to snag one, they were all gone!!).

If the list of savory treats had your mouth watering, hang on tight! The list of sweet treats included everything from hummingbird cake to lemon-raspberry bars, plus chocolate s’more tarts and a pile of the always popular red velvet cupcakes. Shame on anyone who left this party hungry!

When we dream up products for the Southern Weddings Shop, we focus on creating things with heartfelt purpose and meaning. We loved having the chance to introduce the newest shop products in person and give guests an opportunity to do a little early holiday shopping (and save on shipping!). We are in LOVE with our laser-cut wooden “Southern Weddings” sign, compliments of our friends at Southern Fried Paper!

As guests were leaving, they snagged goody bags full of treats from a few of our favorite friends! The bags included “Sweet as a Peach” cups from Haymarket Designs and koozies from High Cotton, yummy organic popcorn from Cosmos Creations, Sugar Confetti Shop confetti, and custom calligraphy note cards from All She Wrote Notes!

It’s safe to say that the party was sweeter than a peach. And the chance to take a picture of ALL of the Southern Weddings gals with ALL of our gents? Priceless! Thank you so much to everyone who celebrated with us from near and far, and for your love and support of the Southern Weddings mission and of V7. We love y’all more than all the biscuits in the world!

P.S. Don’t miss tagging yourself in the Hot Dog! Photo Booth photos on Facebook!

Millie Holloman, Eventful Furniture, Chic Sweets, Southern Fried Paper, and Hey Gorgeous Events are delightful members of our Blue Ribbon Vendor Directory!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!! Magazines are popping up everywhere, and I am dreaming of my grandmama’s famous turkey and dressing. While I have a strict no Christmas music rule until after we’ve eaten Thanksgiving dinner, I start to get excited about holiday events soon after I pack away my back-to-school decorations! So of course, I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll be hosting two of our favorite holiday events in December: our sixth annual Southern Weddings Ornament Swap and our fourth annual Gingerbread Barn Building Event!

We’ll be pulling out our favorite holiday aprons for a night of gingerbread barn building fun at the lovely Carolina Inn on Thursday, December 11. Please RSVP if you’re planning to join us, so we know how many graham crackers to purchase and how much frosting to secure!

Not familiar with this SW holiday tradition? Take a peek at the last few years for some inspiration: 2011, 2012, 2013 (ahem, recognize anyone from the 2011 event? That’s where I met the SW gals for the first time!!). Most attendees choose to work in groups, so grab your best friends, your mama, or your darling beau! Everyone is invited, and for the last few years, many people have come armed with building plans and their own holiday aprons–we love the enthusiasm!

For those of y’all who can’t make it to Chapel Hill on December 11, we’d love to have you join us for our sixth annual Southern Weddings Ornament Swap! As someone who loves getting “real” mail, I can personally vouch for how much fun it is to participate in this!

We had an amazing swap last year and would love for all y’all to participate again this year. Here’s how it will work (please read carefully!):

1. By Monday, December 1: Email [email protected] with “2014 Ornament Swap” in the subject line. Include your name, mailing address, email address, website/blog address, and Instagram handle.
2. By Wednesday, December 3: Lisa will have emailed you the names and addresses of up to five people to send ornaments to. Yep, that means you’ll be sending up to five ornaments, and you’ll be receiving up to five in return!
3. By Friday, December 12: Be sure to send out your ornaments no later than this date! Then, all that’s left to do is wait for the holiday goodness to roll in.

Your ornaments can be homemade or store-bought, and we suggest that you make them as Southern as possible!

Everyone around the SW office is so excited for the coming weeks and the chance to spend some sweet time with y’all! Because we know this time of year can get busy, we’ll be keeping you updated on these events as the holiday countdown commences. Keep your eyes open and hurry on’ up and RSVP!

P.S. If you have any questions, leave a comment on this post or email me directly at [email protected]!!

P.P.S. The Southern Weddings Postal Service will be closing up shop on December 18, so be sure to get your gifting orders in before then! There are lots of new Southern holiday goodies to snag!

Hi friends! Can you believe that SWV7 is on her way to newsstands at this very moment!?! To pass the time, I thought I’d give you a little behind-the-scenes peek into my day.  Welcome to the Southern Weddings Blacksburg office – I’m so glad y’all are here!

All photos by the lovely Kristie Lea Photography!

It’s safe to say that my day looks quite a bit different from everyone else’s as I juggle and manage my day at SW with my day at my corporate marketing job, splitting and balancing my time between both. My typical day is never quite typical and always leaves me with a good story to tell KPW over supper!

7:31:  Working from home with a 13-step commute doesn’t stop me from putting on my pearls, a little mascara and occasionally swiping on some lipstick – to do my best, I have to feel my best.

7:32: I told you it’s a short commute! I start my day by turning on both (yes both, I have to keep my work brains separate) of my computers and loading my email and calendars. While everything is firing up, I take a look at my day and my leftover to-do’s, then make an action plan for how I am going to tackle my priority tasks.

9:00: After plowing through my morning email and quick to-do’s, I hop on a conference call and take on the morning’s corporate marketing action items.

9:31: My conference call ends, so I put on some tunes and knock out a few to-dos while eating my breakfast and singing along to the Wicked Soundtrack!

10:28: It’s time for the weekly Southern Weddings conference call. Technology is SUCH a blessing because with the quick click of a button, the rest of the SW ladies pop up on my computer screen. It feels like I am sitting in the office with them even though I am 208 miles away (and 863 miles away from MAK)!

10:53: The SW Team call is short today – we are busy bees preparing for the launch of V7, tackling final Making Things Happen prep, planning our SWV7 Launch Party and upcoming Southern Weddings Shop product launch. So, after a quick round of updates from everyone and getting a few questions answered, we’re all off to continue our days and tackle our action item lists!

10:56:  When the call wraps up, I run downstairs to refill my water cup and give myself a chance to stretch my legs (hint: another way I manage working from home by myself). When I sit back down, I dig into Blue Ribbon Vendor updates. Being able to love on our committed Southern Weddings vendor family is definitely a bright spot in my day.

12:37:  One of the joys of living in a small town is that most days, my darling husband comes home for lunch!  I welcome the chance to tear away from my work to run downstairs and grab a bite to eat with him.

1:02:  After a quick lunch of cauliflower soup and a salad with KPW, I head back upstairs to continue the afternoon. I have some corporate marketing work to finish before my end-of-business deadline.

2:33:  Back to my SW Inbox! I read and respond to a few exciting V7 Launch Party-related emails. Marissa and I exchange a few exclamation point filled (!!!!) notes about an adorable item for our swag bags, and I set up a telephone meeting tomorrow with the Umstead to finalize party details.

3:17:  Like Marissa, most of my day is spent on the business side of Southern Weddings. I take a few minutes to call a client to discuss their questions about the Blue Ribbon Vendor directory.  Getting a chance to speak about the Southern Weddings mission statement in addition to answering BRV-specific questions is always a great way to remind me why I do what I do

3:33: I try to answer a few more emails before switching gears. This time, I am checking with Emily on a few BRV profile edits and with Morgan on a V7 Promotion effort we are working on together.  I might not make it into the office as much as I’d like, but I sure love connecting with the SW gals each and every day!

4:00:  Time to hop back on a corporate conference call.

The Love Never Fails print is available in our Southern Weddings Shop. Gallery wall credit goes to KPW who put it up 2 hours before the photographer arrived!

4:37: I give Marissa a quick call to discuss an exciting sponsorship opportunity and brainstorm through a few fun marketing strategies I had been thinking about for 2015.  Calls with M are never short ;) – we wind up on a tangent dreaming about ways to grow and welcome new advertisers to our Southern Weddings family! As we wrap up, I beg for the chance to say hi to EKK, Marissa’s darling baby girl!

5:05: I jump back into my email for one last chance to make some decisions and clean out my inboxes before the end of the day.  I also use this time to straighten up my desk (which has slowly become a paper-covered mess) and jot down any priority to-dos for tomorrow.

5:37: Time to shut down my computer and throw on my workout clothes.  I tossed dinner in the crockpot during lunch (I love my crockpot – especially during the fall and winter) so I check on it as I head out the door to the gym.  It smells great, and I can’t wait to dig into the Santa Fe Chicken when I get home! I cook most nights of the week, so if y’all are ever in town, come on by for supper!

PS:  Catch up with the rest of the gals and get a glimpse at how they spend their days: Emily, Nicole, Lisa, Marissa and Morgan!

I love hearing about your day! Especially since you work from home and manage multiple job duties.

I also work in marketing and it’s amazing how rewarding it is to be involved in the business of it all but then still get on a creative tangent with a colleague.
