Ever wish you could do a trial run of your wedding day? Where you could see how your lighting will look in your reception space, how your rentals will look at your ceremony, how your florist’s creations will size up, and how your band will look and sound? Well, we can’t line up your exact wedding day details, but if you’re a bride getting married in Wilmington, North Carolina, we’ve got the next best thing!

Courtyards & Cobblestones is a highly curated wedding planning and inspiration event designed to help you find your wedding day style and plan your Wilmington wedding, taking place January 14 and 15th, 2017!

Every January in Wilmington, North Carolina, a group of hand-picked creatives brings to life seven mock weddings and showcases them to brides through a downtown walking tour: Courtyards & Cobblestones, A Walk Through Wedding Row.

Your ticket gets you access to seven fully-styled venues in Wilmington, each one designed by a different crack team of the best wedding vendors in Southeastern North Carolina. Each team creates a fully styled wedding and reception at their chosen venue, allowing brides to experience their artistry firsthand.

On the C&C Tour, couples take part in a wedding planning experience like none other with live music, table settings, flowers, lighting, cake tastings, savory samplings, beverages, photo booths, and incredible giveaways from REEDS Jewelers, Pressed Cotton, Party Suppliers & Rentals, High Performance Lighting & Power, and Courtyard by Marriott Downtown/Historic District.

For the past six years, this creative wedding event has provided a relaxed and inspirational atmosphere for couples to plan their wedding. Each bride also walks away with a swag bag full of goodies from the C&C creatives and sponsors as well as several bridal magazines (including Southern Weddings, of course!).

The photos in this post are from last year’s Courtyards & Cobblestones event, giving you an idea of what you’ll encounter on this year’s tour! Pretty incredible, right?! It really is a super fun time, and so helpful for all of our Wilmington brides, too! Be sure to check out the behind-the-scenes video from our Blue Ribbon Vendor Life Stage Films, below.

When you combine pretty pink, peach, and white Camilyn Beth dresses with sparky La Tavola linens and a beautiful backdrop compliments of the amazing Umstead Hotel, you get a lovely party. Add in a bow tie bar, the Hot Dog! Photo Booth, and few fun surprises, and you get one amazingly sweet Southern celebration! I am not quite sure how, but it seems that each year, our launch party gets better and better. We look forward to this special night for most of the year–after putting our hearts and souls into the pages of our latest issue, it is such a joy to celebrate with friends and family from near and far!

Big hugs to Millie Holloman and her team for all of these precious photos!

The amazing Rhiannon Bosse of Hey Gorgeous Events, a dear friend of Southern Weddings (and the mastermind behind the beautiful florals on the cover of V7), reached out soon after she returned home from the Bushel and a Peck shoot in August, asking what I thought about helping her surprise the rest of the team AND do the florals for the party in November. Of course, I was 100% on board! I can’t believe we managed to keep it a secret from everyone else for nearly three months.

Yes, this is Mr. Brandon Kloess, live and in person!!! After patiently waiting 4+ years to FINALLY meet our sweet Marissa’s darling gent in real life, we were thrilled for the chance to give him a million hugs and take photos to memorialize the special event. Of course, MAK + BDK’s darling Emerson wore her biggest bow and best party dress for the festivities. Aren’t they the cutest little family?

We pulled in a few reinforcements at check-in to give everyone ample time to celebrate. I spy sparkly letters that helped make the entry table lovely!

We also brought a fun and fancy “beau bar” to life with the help of our friends at High Cotton Ties, and set out some really amazing magnetic buttons from Belle & Union. Not having to poke holes in your party attire? The best!!

Before the doors opened at 7:30, we had a quick team huddle. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and fun, so it was important for us to take a few deep breaths and thank our lucky stars for the chance to hug 300+ friends and celebrate love, marriage, and all the peachy goodness of V7!

Once the doors opened, the hugs started flowing! Besides BDK, a few other special SW family members in attendance were Emily’s darling sister, Kim, who flew in from Boston, and my parents, who traveled up from Gastonia to finally meet the SW gals in person. It was a big ol’ SW family reunion!!

I told you the Hey Gorgeous blooms were swoon-worthy! I think we can also agree that James and the Eventful Furniture fellas outdid themselves. All the lounge spaces were amazing–the perfect combination of cozy meets posh!

There was no shortage of delicious bites and beverages, thanks to the amazing Umstead Hotel! We used the pages of V7 for inspiration and created a menu that left partygoers with happy hearts and full bellies. From mini chicken and waffles to bite-sized ham biscuits, there was a smorgasbord of Southern delicacies. The Umstead chefs pulled out all the stops–pulled pork sliders, sweet potato chips, mini chicken pot pies, and so much more! There was also plenty of Cheerwine and Cheerwine Holiday Punch on hand to help wash it all down.

Hopping on the stage and being able to personally thank all of our guests is always a highlight of our evening. Big hugs to Maghon Walker for being our Ustream Hostess, which let faraway friends join in the festivities. It is quite humbling to have the chance to express our gratitude and tell our story! I get a little teary all over again just thinking about that moment.

Lara’s darling daughter Grace (don’t you love seeing how much Gracie grows from launch party to launch party?) stole the show with her speech, which she had practiced for days–she thanked everyone for coming to her “lunch party!”

The Bloomsbury Boys definitely know how to work the room and include the guests in the fun! No one is surprised that I jumped at the chance to play the washtub, right?

Natalie of Chic Sweets and her darling husband traveled all the way from sunny Florida with a car full of treats to put together the prettiest pink dessert table. While there were takeaway bags with peachy stickers to make to-go bag for the road, I think most of the goodies were gobbled up during the evening! I can personally vouch for the cake pops, and I heard great things about the dipped Oreos (when I went to the sweets table to snag one, they were all gone!!).

If the list of savory treats had your mouth watering, hang on tight! The list of sweet treats included everything from hummingbird cake to lemon-raspberry bars, plus chocolate s’more tarts and a pile of the always popular red velvet cupcakes. Shame on anyone who left this party hungry!

When we dream up products for the Southern Weddings Shop, we focus on creating things with heartfelt purpose and meaning. We loved having the chance to introduce the newest shop products in person and give guests an opportunity to do a little early holiday shopping (and save on shipping!). We are in LOVE with our laser-cut wooden “Southern Weddings” sign, compliments of our friends at Southern Fried Paper!

As guests were leaving, they snagged goody bags full of treats from a few of our favorite friends! The bags included “Sweet as a Peach” cups from Haymarket Designs and koozies from High Cotton, yummy organic popcorn from Cosmos Creations, Sugar Confetti Shop confetti, and custom calligraphy note cards from All She Wrote Notes!

It’s safe to say that the party was sweeter than a peach. And the chance to take a picture of ALL of the Southern Weddings gals with ALL of our gents? Priceless! Thank you so much to everyone who celebrated with us from near and far, and for your love and support of the Southern Weddings mission and of V7. We love y’all more than all the biscuits in the world!

P.S. Don’t miss tagging yourself in the Hot Dog! Photo Booth photos on Facebook!

Millie Holloman, Eventful Furniture, Chic Sweets, Southern Fried Paper, and Hey Gorgeous Events are delightful members of our Blue Ribbon Vendor Directory!

Oh my stars! Things around the SW office have been sparkling and shining since V6 hit shelves on 11.12.13. We’re all still on a post-print high, celebrating the joy found in the 300+ pages of our latest issue every time one gets sent out from our shipping department. To top it off, we were elated to share our pretty new home with you after months of behind-the-scenes effort, and then happily shared another big announcement. In the midst of all the busy, we would have been remiss not to take time to celebrate the release of a book that shouts our mission from each and every one of its pages.

I think we started day-dreaming about the V6 Launch Party while we were still picking the gold glitter out of our hair from the V5 Launch Party. There is something so very magical about being able to celebrate our mission for marriage with our amazing friends, vendors and readers. This year over 300 of y’all caused quite a traffic jam outside the Carolina Inn as you arrived to join in the merrymaking.

We encouraged everyone to wear their best blue and silver! We think Gracie might have stolen the show in her sparkly star tights! And of course, we felt like princesses perfectly dressed for the ball in our LulaKate frocks.

The doors opened promptly at 7:30 to big cheers from the Southern Weddings gals. Imagine our surprise when the line was already snaking down the hallway! Luckily there were buttons (compliments of our friends at M2M Party Designs) to put on and friends to meet while waiting to enter the party. A HUGE thank you to our friends Rebecca and Renee with Millie Holloman Photogrpahy for capturing the details of the evening, including all 300+ hugs as we welcomed our guests to the party!

We practiced our shot with our lovely fall interns, Ana and Morgan. And no, you’re not seeing double — that’s Morgan’s twin next to her! We posed with big groups and little groups for an hour straight, and you can see all of the shots in our Facebook album!

Christina and her darling husband Blair, our beautiful cover couple, couldn’t resist recreating the magic of their cover image (Blair’s idea!). After Christina was blown away with our sneaky cover reveal, they decided they couldn’t miss out on celebrating with us at the launch party! They flew in from Texas and then spent the weekend traipsing around Chapel Hill on a mini-vacation.

And can we talk about the amazing lounge spaces created by Simply Put Vintage Rental? These spaces to sit and chat were a huge hit with everyone (including our own sweet Marissa and her precious baby bump who needed to put their feet up after a long night of greeting guests!).

La Tavola provided those fabulous glittery linens, and Serendipity Designs put together some beautiful mint julep centerpieces for us. So festive!

Our very own Emily made those fabulous sparkly stirrers, and The Sugar Confetti Shop provided the beautiful stars and stripes straws!

Heavens to Betsy, I feel sorry for anyone who left this party hungry. Heidi and her team at the Carolina Inn outdid themselves this year. We pulled inspiration from the pages of V6 and there was no shortage of yummy (mini) Southern treats to munch on during the evening. We had mini pies (y’all, the mini chicken pot pies were to-die-for), Southern soup shooters, skillet mac & cheese, a bacon bar, a biscuit bar with pulled pork and fried chicken, a hot chocolate bar, and so much more. Of course, we washed it all down with mason jars full of lemonade and the always popular glass bottles of Cheerwine.

After having the chance to share our heartfelt thanks with EVERYONE who helped make V6 happen, we all joined together on the dance floor and cut a rug to Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling in Love With You,” compliments of our joyful music entertainment for the evening: Long Leaf Trio with EastCost Entertainment

It’s not too often that all of the SW ladies AND our gents are in the same place, so of course we took the opportunity to get a photo. The only one missing? Miss Marissa’s Brandon!

If you had a sweet tooth, you were in hog-heaven at this party!! Natalie and her darling husband from Chic Sweets road-tripped up to North Carolina and brought with them the most delicious cake pops and sparkly candies. Our guests were able to make a bag of goodies for the road, although I have it on record that most of the treats were enjoyed before leaving the building!

And if you thought the list of savory foods blew you away, hold on to your hats! Ashley Cakes knocked our socks off with her dessert spread. Again, we pulled inspiration from the pages of V6 and Ashley brought them to life in the most magical way. We enjoyed mini pies (with blackberry being an office favorite), strawberry skewers and a three-tiered masterpiece with layers of red velvet, sweet potato, and strawberries and cream. Oh yes, and edible glitter.

The evening was topped off with beautiful signage and decorations from our favorite gal from Kentucky, Miss Kristen Becker of Five Dot Design. Rest assured, there was no shortage of sparkle or Southern glam.

As you may know, we streamed the entire evening live, via Usteam. Three cheers for technology, as it allowed friends far and wide to witness our sweet Lisa Olson’s engagement festivities (confetti included). We were so excited to be able to share in her sweet moment with her brand spankin’ new finance, Dave!

As everyone left for the evening, they snagged a goodie bag filled with treats from some of our favorites! Snickety Snacks provided adorable state cookies, Sugar Confetti Shop added sparkle with tubes of confetti and Image 2 Image provided the most darling koozies!

Of course, the evening wasn’t complete without a jump into the Hot Dog Photo. Mercy, the SW gals love a photo booth! (You can hop over to Facebook to see more — remember to tag yourself!). Thanks again, from the bottom of our hearts for joining in all the sparkly festivities! We love y’all!!

P.S. Don’t forget to check out the photos from our Nashville friends! Blue Ribbon Vendor Amber Housley threw a mini satellite launch party that looked oh so fun!
