Monthly Archives: December 2011

It’s Monday, which means it’s time for an update on our Heifer fund! To recap, we’re trying to raise $1,500 between now and Christmas to purchase a “Joy to the World” package: two sheep, four goats, a heifer, and two llamas.

To date, we’ve raised $230! Y’all, we are doing great, but we still have a LONG way to go to reach $1,500!! Every little bit counts, so if you can donate even $5, we would so appreciate it. We KNOW we can do it, but only if everyone contributes just a little bit! Are you feeling the Christmas spirit? Because we sure are!

Heifer International Donation

Vendors, remember: For any ad (print or online) that is purchased before Christmas, 5% will go straight to our Heifer fund! If you’ve been on the fence, now is a great time to start your business off right in the new year, and give back at the same time! Shoot Whitney an email for all the details. It is most definitely NOT to early to reserve your spot in our next print edition!

Let’s do this thing!!

Southern Weddings Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

I know I say this almost every week, but this one was a really good one for Southern Weddings! Lara, Emily, Sierra, Whitney, baby Grace, Marissa (via Skype) and I gathered for our annual Christmas party this week to share the joy with each other. We also spent a large amount of time ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the ornaments from our ornament swap! Y’all are so crafty and sweet!

We continued to spread the joy on the blog this week, first by introducing our fab Blue Ribbon Vendors! We’ve been working on this project for months and were thrilled to introduce y’all to the super talented and understanding vendors that could contribute to your wedding dream team. See the details here!

The 12 days of Southern Weddings Christmas ended with a bang! Take a look at all of our giveaways. Remember, you have until December 25 to enter!

Day 1: Monogrammed hankie and gardenia hair flower
Day 2: Kendra Scott earrings
Day 3: Handmade by Sara Kim gift card
Day 5: Paperfinger custom address stamp
Day 6: Custom silhouette cake topper
Day 7: Monogram Journey Locket
Day 8: Durango Boots
Day 9: Plum Pretty Sugar
Day 10: Angee W
Day 11: Lilly Pulitzer
Day 12: Bella Figura

‘Tis the season for giving. We want to help families in need by giving a “Joy to the World” package from Heifer International. Help us deliver this amazing gift by contributing to our fund. Together, we can reach our goal!

Southern hospitality came in the form of a Richmond tote this week! Courtney Spencer of Merriment Events helped us pick the perfect items to include in a welcome bag for your guests.

Marissa told us about her very favorite Southern tradition this week: a moment of prayer. This tradition is rooted in faith, a spirit of thanksgiving, and love.

We followed a sweet wedding moment with one of my favorite Southern Style posts: Veils 101. There are so many options out there, let Marissa walk you through each one.

Emily’s back with a wedding planning update! Around here, we know Emily’s music taste is a little odd. She says, “If your Grandma danced to it, it’s probably my groove.” But who knew she also loves to bust a move to Rihanna? Check out her plans to keep her guests on the dance floor.

Emily spotted something perfectly Southern this week! Cotton juxtaposed with rich purple fabrics makes us swoon!

This week’s featured Real Wedding Gallery was Ashley + Paul. Their Florida wedding was full of school spirit!

Real Wedding fun

We’re just gaga for college sweethearts, Melissa + Eric’s peach and green wedding. Their ribbon details and family contributions stole our hearts. See it here and here.

Fun for all!

Southern Weddings is happy to announce that we’re participating in The Cream Austin (formerly known as Hitched) by Bash, Please. The event is a curated showcase for brides, grooms who want a fresh vision in wedding planning. You can check out our interview here and you can buy tickets here!

We’re also happy to support Courtyards & Cobblestones, a new kind of bridal show that’s relaxed and enjoyable. Walk through historic downtown Wilmington and strike up a conversation with professionals who want to make your wedding day fabulous! Find more details (including how to buy tickets) on Millie Holloman’s blog here and the Courtyards & Cobblestones site here.

Don’t forget to check out our Facebook Fridays! This week, Captured Photography by Jenny shared Lindsay + Brent’s engagement session — complete with a little red airplane!

P.S. New to the blog? Check out this post! We’ll catch you up.

Happy weekend, friends!
