Southern Weddings Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

This week, Emily brought out new bulletin boards for us to hang above our desks. At the moment, they’re still sitting in their packaging between our desks and I’m antsy to start pinning things on them! What things do y’all have pinned to your bulletin boards?

I think that among the wedding images that will make their way up there, a few may come from our features this week. Between happy engagements and beautiful venues, there’s a lot to keep in mind.

We are crazy excited for the talented vendors that we’re adding to our Blue Ribbon Vendor Directory daily! Get to know more about our newest additions and some BRV perks here.

Emily spotted something beachy-keen this week! Sand dollar boutonnieres would be the perfect addition to your dapper groom’s suit if you’re getting married along the Southeast coast.

Who else has been anxiously awaiting the next installment of Emily Plans a Wedding? Y’all know Miss Emily is a paper-lover, so we were so excited to see her save the dates!

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve asked all y’all newly engaged couples to send your photos in to us. We were just happier than a pig in mud to see your huge smiling faces and pretty new rings! The biggest hugs and congratulations go out to our engaged readers! See them here and here.

Y’all. Where did January go? Amidst our time-flying shock, we looked back on the highlights of the first batch of 2012 Real Weddings in the Monthly Round-Up.

The Honey List is chock full of special honeymoon spots in the South and beyond. We’re really excited to welcome The Lodge & Spa at Callway Gardens to the Honey List, especially after hearing Marissa’s rave review!

We’re happy to introduce y’all to a few of the wonder sponsors in our family. Head over to our Sponsor Love post to learn more about Jenny Johnson, Flaire Weddings & Events and Kat Braman!

This week’s featured Real Wedding Gallery is Whitney + Jeff! We love their glam frosty-gray color scheme and pink peonies.

Real Weddings make our hearts sing!

Shelley + Greg’s pink and green Charleston wedding turned our Monday blues around! See it here and here.

Alli + Chad’s outdoor wedding was full of vintage finds and my favorite string lights! See it here and here.

Announcements for the weekend

The Fort Mill Bridal Show is taking place on Saturday, February 11! For more information and to buy tickets, check out the Carolina Project’s website.

We’re sending a big, virtual welcome hug to our newest Blue Ribbon Vendors! Welcome to the family, Alexa’s Photography, Kickstand Events, Scobey Photography, Fit to be Tied, Green Ribbon Parties, Haley Sheffield, Dylan Wilson, Shelby Peaden, A Southern Soiree and A Charleston Bride! Yeehaw!

Have a great weekend, my friends! What are your fun plans?

Southern Weddings Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

I stepped away from reading a Real Wedding interview from one of our future featured couples to write this post. It always makes me excited to share these weddings with y’all. Some of our couples have such sweet or hilarious stories and reading about the details that hold a special place in their memories makes my heart full and happy. I can’t wait for you guys to see the weddings we have lined up!

Of course, the features we posted this week hold just as special a place in my heart. If you missed anything, you’re in the right place! I’m recapping the fun, heartfelt and romantic features from this week, starting with a bright pop of yellow.

It’s been raining in North Carolina for days and we’re ready for sunshine, I tell you! We tried cheering Mother Nature up with some Lemon Squeeze Color Palette Finds.

Paired with Sunny Bridesmaid Inspiration from Marissa, I think we may have succeeded. We walked out of the office on Tuesday to sunny skies and warm weather. I even rolled my windows down on the way home!

Being the fabric-junkie that I am, I loved Andi Mans’ fabric backdrop streamers. I’m envisioning them strung between oak trees for a ceremony or hung behind the cake table at the reception. Do you see it, too? Win them here!

Sierra paired up with Victoria Volpone of Carillon Weddings and Emily Ley to bring us a fun-in-the-sun Southern Hospitality Tote!

Knowing that friends and family are so important to honor during weddings, we were more than happy to help one of our readers who wanted to do something special for a family member who passed away. Marissa gave us a few sweet ideas to keep those special people in our thoughts.

We’re totally crazy for this engagement session at the couple’s alma mater, and more specifically, their football stadium! We love that it demonstrates their passion for family traditions, the university and football.

This week’s featured Real Wedding Gallery is Kristen + Chad’s. We’re loving their homemade details (and I’m loving Kristen’s hair!).

Real Weddings take the cake

Turner + Forrest’s beachside Alabama wedding had us swooning over the black and white photos. See it here and here.

Suzanne + Sean’s wedding made us pause and take in the sweet details. Our favorite part? The beautiful chapel they married in. See it here.

Holly + Chase’s wedding made us feel right at home. We love that their nuptials took place at the site of their engagement and involved the loving hands of many friends and family. See it here.

We love good news to start the weekend!

Wedding Day Hooray is hosting their second annual wedding expo on February 18! (Doesn’t their name make you happy?) The event gives DIY brides a chance to explore with Atlanta-based Indie Craft Experience, which aims to bring affordable treasures from local artists and crafters to the budget bride to make her special day most special. For more details, see their site!

Kimpton’s Monaco Alexandria is hosting a Free Wedding Open House to brides on Saturday, February 11. Brides will get the chance to tour the Hotel Monaco Alexandria, win raffle prizes, nibble on free hors d’oeuvres and meet wedding professionals at the hotel. For more information, see the Monaco Alexandria website here.

We’re welcoming our newest advertisers to the Southern Weddings Family with a big virtual hug! Join us in welcoming Honour Hiers, TiffZippy and Elkin Creek Vineyard, plus our newest Blue Ribbon Vendors, Adam Barnes and Stephen Devries!

Want to join the fam (and the fun)? Email Whitney or click here!

Happy weekend, lovelies! Tell us what you’re doing in the comments below!

Southern Weddings Weekly Round-Up

Does anyone else still have their Christmas tree up? Ours is still standing tall! (Photo proof is on our Facebook.) We’ve got so many great ideas that we’re making a reality, it’s hard to find time to take it down! Who else is in the same boat?

Just this week, we posted some of my favorite features so far and have a ton lined up for next week!

Marissa loves the Southern tradition of the white Bible (one of these images made it onto her Dream Wedding board!), and we’re so glad one of our readers drew our attention to it! Read more about the tradition here and some fun twists that we’ve seen.

I’m always up for pairing natural materials with some sparkle and shine. My Color Palette Finds based off of Emily’s Bright Winter Beach Inspiration Board was the perfect opportunity to share some of my favorite items.

We shared a Real Wedding from V4 on the blog this week! Y’all might recognize Natalia + Levi’s Paris-meets-The South nuptials from the issue and we were more than excited to share a few more images from their wedding. See it here and here.

If Natalia + Levi’s wedding won you over, then maybe this “Get the Look” post will be right up your alley! We picked out some of our favorite details to match the romantic plantation look N + L achieved.

Whether you want to use Emily’s Southern Spotting as inspiration for your wedding or just for a dinner party, we think it will make your table look just “bow-tiful.”

Know the saying, “a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach?” They actually meant, “The way to Nicole’s heart is through her stomach.” Marissa’s new mini series on Southern Delicacies makes me really excited. Just look at her first post on grits! Yummy? Yes. Adorably-packaged? Total bonus.

This week’s featured Real Wedding Gallery is Samantha + Graham. Their North Carolina nuptials took place in our city of Chapel Hill and we love seeing the local details!

Real Weddings

Britt + Heath’s wedding would do the women of Steel Magnolias proud! The blush and bashful color palette also incorporated some glam details. See the prettiness here and here.
