This week was dominated by mostly pink things. Namely, Emily’s birthday party! Can y’all believe she baked cupcakes for her own party? There were delicious, though, so we didn’t complain. Read all her sweet birthday wishes here and leave some love!

We started off the week with a cute DIY from our friends at Yours is the Earth. They showed us how to make jam and provided us with printable labels! Adorable.

We started a new series, Southern Stems! This week, the state flower of Alabama, the camellia stole our heart.

Sierra shared her trip to the Red Horse Inn in South Carolina with us and well, let’s be honest, made the outdoor-lover in all of us a bit jealous. The Red Horse Inn is now a welcome addition to our Honey List!

We rounded-up all the winners from our past three giveaways with Andi Mans, The Swoon Event and MM Ink + Betsywhite Stationery! Congratulations to our lucky winners!

A giant, collective “awww” was heard around the South on Tuesday when Emily spotted children in seersucker!

Marissa made us a little green with envy, too, when she told us all about her trip to the Boca Beach Club! The new Honey List addition is so bright and fun, you’d think you might run into Lilly Pulitzer!

Emily caught us up on her wedding planning with a post about (my favorite part) the cake and other sweets! Hint: she’ll be doing some baking of her own!

It’s our first ever Pinterest Contest! All the ladies in the office have been curating their own picks on Pinterest, but now we want to see what you’ve come up with! Create your Dream Wedding Pinterest Board and you could win!

Marissa was right when she said this post would make us shed a tear! We love the Southern Tradition of doing the first look with your father!

This week’s featured Real Wedding Gallery was Lauren + Tommy. Their Oklahoma wedding was complete with a hay bale lounge area and orange flowers.

We love our weddings

Audrey + Jordan’s Alabama wedding was full of romantic flowers and lace and topped off with good ole Southern eats. See it here.

Good news is always welcome

We’re thrilled to welcome Taylor Lord, Geomyra Lewis, Dixie Pixel and Jose Villa to our Blue Ribbon Vendor Directory!

Recently engaged? You could win a chance to be on the cover of Engagement 101’s July issue. The chosen couple will also receive an extraordinary diamond ring designed by Artcarved. See Engagement 101’s Facebook page for more information.

If you haven’t yet, hop on over to our Facebook and check out this week’s Top Ten: Seersucker Details!

Okay, we’re making progress on the bulletin board front. Currently, there are two holes above my desk. I’d call that a major improvement! Don’t be fooled, y’all, I promise we’re quite handy! We just need to work on acquiring a measuring tape and a level for the office.

In other news, we went a Valentine’s Day-happy pinning spree this week. Once you take a look at the features we posted about this week, you’ll know exactly why! And if you haven’t seen it, we’ve added a handy “Pin It” button to the bottom of every post. In addition to all the pinning, we also had a little party and made this awesome (a.k.a slightly awkward) video for y’all.

We started off the week with Chaviano Couture’s gorgeous 2012 collection. Annette, the designer behind these beauties drew inspiration from all things feminine and romantic. Be still, my heart!

We couldn’t help but throw in a fun giveaway for the Swoon Event! We love how this Southern bridal event is a wedding market AND a party. If you’re in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area, be sure to enter to win two tickets here!

Two weeks ago, Emily spoke at Branches & Light, a photography workshop for ladies organized by Nancy Ray and Caroline Joy. The images produced by the workshop shoot were perfect for Valentine’s Day and we had to share!

Do you believe in Valentine’s Day? Our hilarious and wise guest columnist, Katie from Marriage Confessions, tells us all about what love can do in a marriage. (But unfortunately, no, it does not pay the power bill.)

Marissa and her hubs celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary in December and took a trip to the Florida Keys to celebrate. Marissa proved that the Ocean Key Resort & Spa was a wonderful addition to the Honey List! Their warm and welcoming employees and casually luxurious atmosphere make for the perfect combination.

While we’re in the process of rounding up our favorite Southern Weddings images and decorating our office walls, we thought we’d share a bit about what makes these images so special and why we swoon every time we see them. It’s film, y’all. (Plus the amazing work of Richard Photo Lab!)

Emily’s wedding planning is really underway! Many of the logistics have been decided, so of course she had to move into hair and makeup updates! She’s still torn between options, but with the gorgeous inspiration she wrangled up, can she really go wrong?

Oh, y’all. I always love Marissa’s Southern Delicacy series because those treats always look delicious! This week, we’re all about King Cake and Mardi Gras.

What does one wear to a black tie wedding? Y’all know we love formality, gorgeous dressed and dapper-dressed beaus as much as we love our cowboy boots in the South. Marissa walks us through the expectations and provides a few gorgeous options in her Southern Style column!

We were happy to take a look back on Carolyn + Dustin’s wedding in the featured Real Wedding Gallery of the week! Their clean pink and orange details won us over.

We love love. Real Weddings from this week:

Valerie + Kevin’s wedding was a family effort that boasted gorgeous pink details and a huge group of friends! See it here.

Blair + Luke’s red wedding blew us out of the water — how perfect for Valentine’s Day! The Southern soiree was complete with gorgeous calligraphy and a bright, bold tent. See it here.

Good news for the weekend!

Y’all know we love fun photo booths! A new iPad app called Wedding Booth makes it even easier to get on at your wedding by transforming your iPad into a fully customizable, inexpensive and fun DIY photo booth and guestbook for your wedding. Check out Wedding Booth’s website for more information!

MagnetStreet Weddings is celebrating Valentine’s Day! To give brides some sweet savings on wedding stationery, they’re offering a 21.4% discount to our friends! Head over to their site and use the promo code WEDLOVE214 before February 27.

Who wants to win $500 in wholesale wedding flowers?! Fifty Flowers is offering a giveaway to brides, planners, anyone! Each month, a new winner is selected. Head over to their Facebook page for more details!

Photographers, want to get published? Emily gave Shoot 2 Shoot a few trip and tricks, including what we love and what we look for in submissions. Check it out here!

Don’t forget to check out this week’s Facebook Top Ten. We’re all about peaches this week! Big thanks to Rachel Thurston for the photo of peach favors below.

Tell me what y’all are doing this weekend! I’m really looking forward to Sunday brunch with friends.

Southern Weddings Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

This week, we put aside our college basketball rivalries (hint: someone in our office is highly outnumbered!) to bring you features full of wedding bliss and wedding fun. It started with a big birthday wish to our darling editor, Marissa!

Before we get into all the goodness that transpired this week, we wanted give you an important announcement about a new addition to the blog you’ll notice next week: sponsored posts. We’ve recently decided to begin offering these to vendors and companies in order to continue and improve the beautiful content you (and we!) love. For those who aren’t sure what a sponsored post is, it’s a post written by the SW staff that was paid for – kind of like a commercial. We know not everyone will love them, but we’re actually really excited about the posts we already have lined up: we’re going to be hand-selecting these companies to make sure we can honestly say good things about them! Of course, they’ll ALWAYS be clearly marked as sponsored posts in the title and/or the body of the post, so you’ll be able to tell immediately what’s going on — we hate feeling like someone’s trying to slip something by us, and figure y’all do, too. Also, we promise that on a day a sponsored post goes up, another post or two of gorgeous content will go up, as well. And that’s that! You’ll see the first post go up next week, and we all thank you SO much in advance for your support. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments!

Now, back to the good stuff! Remember how I’ve been telling y’all that we’re trying to decorate the office? Aside from my recent trip to Ikea (yay!), we haven’t made much progress. You see, there are just so many beautiful photos we could choose to hang! That’s where you come in. Help us decorate the office and vote for your top six here! Here are two contenders:

Marissa is always helping us shine the light on some lesser-known Southern histories. Take, for instance, the delectable benne wafer. These little cookies are said to bring good luck!

We’re bringing back the Ultimate Southern Challenges! This time around, we’re giving you the perfect blank canvas: burlap. The entries can come in any form as long as they involve burlap. Most importantly, they should be Southern! See here for more details.

It’s that time of the year, lovelies — Mardi Gras festivities are gearing up! We were giddy about the idea of presenting y’all with a ton of purple, green and gold inspiration full of Mardi Gras “hootenanny” (in Emily’s words). First up was a soft inspiration board.

Followed shortly by Marissa’s rundown of everything traditional about Mardi Gras and lots of inspiring images

And then a compilation of my favorite purple, green and gold Color Palette Finds to bring that Mardi Gras hootenanny to your wedding.

Natalie + Wade’s V4 wedding was a Watercolor hit! We love their soft color palette and sweet imagery by Tec Petaja. See it here and here.

We loved this wedding so much, y’all know we had to do a “Get the Look” feature with it! I pulled together some rustic finds with metallic details.

We’re always on the hunt for amazing getaway places to add to our Honey List. This week, Whitney tells us all about her trip to Cabin Bluff, where she even got to shoot clay pigeons!

We want to introduce you to the wonderful vendors that are filling our Blue Ribbon Vendor Directory daily! Say hello to our newest additions, A Southern Soiree, Chris Confero, Dodeline Design, Dylan Wilson, Gibson Events, Graham Terhune, Honour Hiers, Josh McCullock, Richard Ellis and Shelby Peaden Events.

Whitney’s the last of us to put together her dream Southern Wedding, which means she’s had a TON of inspiration to choose from! Take a look at her gorgeous plan and the sweet details she’s dying to include here.

This week, Sierra brought us back into the sweet Southern charms of Amy + Clayton’s Florida wedding in the featured Real Wedding Gallery of the week.

We love Real Weddings

Sydney + Lucas’s wedding was a homemade gathering full of genuine love. We think it’s sweet that the makings of the day were a family affair. Plus, plaid shirts and wheat bouquets are a win in our book. See it here.

Fun things ahead!

Tailored.co, a personalized shopping site for brides has just launched! Tailored allows brides to find and collect inspiration, browse wedding products selected just for them, create lists of their favorite finds, and share their picks with friends and family, all in one place. Want to learn more about Tailored? Check out their site!

If you haven’t seen it, Southern Weddings is featured on Bella Figura! We’re excited to share our predictions for 2012 wedding trends and our “trendsetter picks” from their collection. If you’re paper lovers like we are and want to see our picks in person (plus, who doesn’t love letterpress?), you can order a sample pack here. The cost of the pack is donated to The Conservation Fund!

Hi, ladies! We’re so excited for to hear about your upcoming weddings and have loooved seeing your engagement photos. (Y’all are adorable!) We want to know more, though. If it’s the week before you wedding, give us a shout out on Twitter and Facebook and let us know — we want to wish you the best in the Weekly Round-Up! So mark your calendars, y’all (but of course, we’ll remind you, too).

The ladies at Southern Weddings are sending out big welcome hugs to our returning vendors, Kat Braman and Botanica Florist and our newest Blue Ribbon Vendors, Millie Hollomon, Richard Ellis Photography, Anna Kirby Photography, Dodeline Design, Christopher Confero, Gibson Events, Josh Mccullock Photo, and Graham Terhune!

I’m off to Williamsburg for the weekend! What are y’all doing?
