Our October was full of pretty leaves, Halloween hype and general fall fun. With the State Fair in town, it was also full of deliciously fried foods and carnival games. Take a look at what the Southern Weddings gals did last month!

1. Emily and John ventured to some waterfalls while taking a weekend trip to Asheville

2. Lara, Grace and Ari went to the McKee Farm corn maze!

3. I waited in line for a fried chicken biscuit from Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen — a Chapel Hill must!

4. Lara surprised Emily and I with some Krispy Kremes as we made our final edits on V5.

5. I ran the Color Me Rad 5K with my sister and Dad.

6. Emily, in the thick of the name change process, gathered up materials for the social security office.

7. I went to the State Fair and got to the top of the Ferris wheel just just as the fireworks show began.

8. Kristin celebrated the start of fall with some homemade chicken vegetable soup.

9. Emily, also in the mood to celebrate fall, whipped up some pumpkin chocolate chip muffins on wedding china! (She gladly shared the recipe with us here.)

10. Kristin celebrated her eighth first-date anniversary (photo from first date weekend, October 2004).

11. Marissa unpacked from Bridal Market and repacked to move! Yes, that is peanut butter in her suitcase.

12. Kristin spent a gorgeous Saturday morning at the State Fair tasting a pile of yummy (mostly fried) Southern treats: ham biscuit, fried pickles, fried snickers, roasted corn and more!

13. One of the one million gorgeous gowns Kristin saw during Bridal Market in NYC. This one is by Ines Di Santo.

14. Emily and I spent a couple of days proofing V5!

15. Marissa had dinner in NYC with Kristin, Kat Harris and former SW editor, Whitney. Once an SW girl, always an SW girl!

16. We carved a Southern pumpkin, y’all! This guy even has a dapper bow tie.

17. Lara went on a trip across the U.S. for Making Things Happen and flew over beach, canyons and snow.

18. Emily painted some golden pumpkins as her crafty project of the month.

Tell us: What did you do in October? What were the highlights of your month?

Are y’all on Instagram? The Southern Weddings ladies are! We love how easy it makes sharing photos! Lately, we’ve been breaking out our phone to share everything from the cool packages we get in the mail to what we made for dinner. Here’s a little peek into what’s been going on behind the scenes with the Southern Weddings ladies, in and out of the office.

1. Memorial Day makes us so grateful, especially Lara whose husband, father and grandfather all served our country.

2. We finally got around to decorating our office with beautiful images from our past issues.

3. Warmer weather meant the perfect conditions for Lara’s church to hold an outdoor service.

4. I love my friends who sport vintage truckers hat from rural Kentucky to our rooftop brunch.

5. Stacks and stacks of boxes came in full of V5 goodies!

6. I brushed up on my cornhole game at a friend’s backyard graduation party.

7. Emily’s wedding bracelet. “I found it in my Mom’s stash when I was home last week!”

8. Emily donned her press pass as she headed into her third National Stationery Show! (She brought back tons of paper goodies, y’all.)

9. We gushed over these sparklers that our reader models will be donning for some V5 shoots!

10. Marissa was running late to a baseball game and rocked giant velcro rollers in the car. “I’m sure Southern girls understand the importance of big hair!”

11. Marissa’s ring was at the jeweler because a diamond fell out, so she tried on her grandmother’s vintage for size. Um, we love it!

12. The fair came to town and Marissa and a few of the baseball boys went to the petting zoo. “Don’t tell my husband I think the baby goats are adorable! He wants to buy one!!”

We hope you had an great month, y’all! What were some of your highlights?

Biggest highlight was having my wedding published on y’alls site! I also loved putting together some dining furniture with the hubs, spending money on the Webster Miami for Target line, going to Destin with some of my best buddies, visiting Corey’s best friend in Dallas (for a Dave Matthews concert), AND going to an M83 concert! Whew!

Two nights ago, I broke out my ice cream maker for the first time this year! Who else is excited that summer is so close? With Memorial Day weekend just a few hours away, we’re all itching to get outside.

Emily’s Crab Boil inspiration board was just what we needed to get in the mood for the months ahead. I love the fiery, juicy colors.

Keeping up the theme of refreshing summer things, Marissa delved into the history of Coca Cola — and why Southerners refer to all soda as “Coke!”

Apparently, flower girls are just begging to be monogrammed! We’ve seen the adorable monogrammed sashes, but this option is new to us. We love how bold it is!

It is V5-central in the office lately! We’re swimming in photo shoot heaven and want you to join us! In the Atlanta area on June 14? Send us your photo! See details here.

I always love finding great bridesmaid gift options. It can be difficult to find the perfect items that say “thank you” properly, but we think these monogrammed frames from The Paper Cottage are just the ticket. Win a set for your ‘maids here!

We didn’t stop with just one giveaway this week! In celebration of Amanda Judge’s adorable new line of jewelry and party dresses, we’re giving away a lovely bridal sash from her collection! Enter to win here.

We’ve seen our fair share of cornhole boards (and played our fair share of games, too!), but we just can’t get enough of this Southern Tradition. We just love seeing guests play this game at weddings.

The finalists of our Maile Lani Photography Giveaway have been chosen! Readers, we need your help making this hard decision. Cast your vote and tell us who you think should win here.

This week’s featured Real Weddings Gallery is Andrea + Michael. We can’t get over their classic style and the Grace Kelly look-alike we found in the bride!

Real Weddings are our favorite!

Madelynne + Corey’s wedding was one we’ve waited in anticipation for! From the adorable proposal to the colorful getaway, it was wedding-love all the way. See it here.

Sarah + Nick’s wedding felt just the way a homespun wedding should. We love their DIY details and wedding parade for the kids! See it here.

Fun things to do this weekend:

Near Mobile? The Second Annual Mobile Crawfish Festival is on June 2! See more details on their site. We seriously wish we could go! Marissa — can you go and eat some for all of us?

Before you go, let’s just fall in love with this photo together. I’m crazy for how simple this image from Nancy Ray Photography is — just warm, comfy love. See more of Stacie + Nick’s engagement session here.

Have a ridiculously fun weekend, friends!
