It has been a busy start to the year! We haven’t given y’all a behind-the-scenes look into the lives of the SW gals in awhile, but we’re happily sharing a few glimpses from our time in and out of the office today. As Kristin says, February was the time of love and birthdays.

1. Marissa posted her favorite new shirt from Petal Boutique. It’s business in the front and a party in the back, she says!

2. I pulled out my Pantone swatches to do some color matching for a new product in the shop. Can you tell which print I was working on?

3. Kristin and the SW gals celebrated sweet Marissa’s birthday with a dance party and a cupcake. This is one of K’s favorite pictures ever. (Thanks Kat Harris!)

4. Lara launched her brand new site! See it here y’all.

5. Marissa’s suitcase was a bit over packed for her trip out west, so this Southern girl had to wear her winter coat through the airport!

6. Emily has been loving her tending list and notepad from the new Lara Casey shop.

7. Emily and John celebrated Valentine’s Day with dinner at home and a first viewing of their Inkspot long-form wedding film.

8. Valentine’s Day was delicious in the office thanks to a treat from our intern, Jessica. She gave us heart-shaped biscuits and jam!

9. Kristin and Kyle celebrated Valentine’s Day with a picnic on the floor of their living room using a quilt made by Kristin’s great aunt (a gorgeous wedding ring quilt, oh my stars)!

10. Marissa and her husband got a big laugh out of their last name being on the Padres pronunciation guide for Spring Training. (It’s pronounced “close,” not “clo-ess.”)

11. Grace surpassed walking and started running — a lot!

12. Emily was very happy about our closet overhaul and organization day. It now houses all of our pretty new prints!

13 In addition to their wedding film, Emily and John also received their disc of wedding images from Tanja. She included some gorgeous prints with hand-cut mats.

14. Kristin shared her love story with our amazing readers! Yay!!

15. We had plenty of exciting staff meetings this month as we reviewed our January goals and discussed ideas for V6!

16 Kristin spread some love to celebrate Emily’s birthday and sent a pile of goodies to The Birthday Party Project. (See Emily’s post on it here.)

17. We all appreciated the Southern charm dripping from the lovely cotton wreath on Lara’s office door.

18. My boyfriend and I watched our rival alma maters play against each other in basketball. The Tar Heels won. :)

Tell us: What did you do in February? What were the highlights of your month?

So many fun things happened in February, but I’m looking forward to the real start of spring! The highlight for me was a trip to Atlanta to visit my best friend. We had such a great weekend of incredible food and shopping, and of course, lots of girl talk!

Lisa, I love that! I’m looking forward to the real start of spring, too, and the chance to catch up with my best friend in her city.

A Southern Love Letter from Marissa

by in Main on

This month, in honor of all things love, we’ll be sharing a valentine a week from an SW gal. Marissa is up today, and this is her love letter to the South, which she’s just left to follow her husband’s baseball career to Arizona.

Have you caught the love letter bug? Check out More Love Letters, an organization after our own hearts. Their goal? To turn your best love letter into a lamp to light the path of someone who needs to read it. Find out more here.

For some reason, I’ve been desperately wishing I lived in the south right now! And this doesn’t help…I love how much you all love where you live, and I love the culture that brought you up! Can’t wait to read more, and hopefully (crossing my fingers) I’ll be able to plan a wedding down there someday :) xoxo

  2. avatar Amber Housley reply

Marissa, you are adorable! The South misses you as well! :) xo

  3. avatar Jessica B reply

I left the South for Arizona about a year and a half ago for my (now) fiance’s job! I miss the South dearly as well, most especially when I receive my Southern Living magazine in the mail. But don’t fret… there’s lots to like about Arizona (the mountains are gorgeous and constantly changing as the light does), and you can still occasionally find sweet tea in restaurants (Firehouse Subs, for one). Best of luck, and if you’re looking for a new friend in Tucson or Phoenix (I live in the first, commute for work to the second), let me know! =)

Oh my goodness, Jessica! You’re the sweetest! I do enjoy it here, but of course, change is always hard. We’ll only be here for a bit, but so appreciate the sweet offer! xx

I love this so much! As a Southern girl who has been out in California for three years, this is exactly how I feel. I’m heading back to Nashville this weekend, and this makes me even more excited to get back to all the things I love.

Marissa, thank you for this beautiful letter and welcome to the west side of the country! I promise it’s just as beautiful and unique in it’s own way, and I’m sure you’ll find things to love during your time here.

    Hugs to you MAK!

Love this! A gorgeous, thankful, grateful letter. I’m so glad I read it! God Bless! :)

Southern Weddings Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

It’s been quite dreary in our area this week, with rain stickin’ around like honey on your fingers. Thankfully, we’ve been quite distracted with the images on our blog.

We were happy to welcome some dinner party inspiration this week, especially when it’s as lovely and inviting as this get-together from Gibson Events. We picture it translating into one fine engagement party or rehearsal dinner.

Southern blooms hold a big piece of our hearts. We love the bouquets dreamed up for this V5 feature and how they represent the many parts of our home.

The best way to end a week of rain is with a shoot full of sunshine! We adore this bridesmaids shoot the day before the wedding — a perfect way to relieve stress with your gals and get some great photos from the fun.

Real weddings, we love you so!

Fay + Jon’s dock ceremony and farm reception gave guests a glimpse into the place where they fell in love. See it here.

Joanna + Paul’s casual wedding was meant to feel like a party in their backyard. We think the colorful details pull it off. See it here.

Erin + Michael’s lakeside wedding from V5 stole our hearts with the many details that showcased the couple’s life and passions. See it here and here.

Haley + Patrick’s wedding was another one with a warm dinner party-feel. We love their rustic-meets-elegant tented reception. See it here.

Great news!

We are thrilled to welcome the launch of Pressed Cotton, a shop full of lovely items for the finest Southern gatherings! Happily, they’re also found in our General Store. Be sure to head on over to see what’s new.

Don’t forget! Our fab editor Marissa will be answering all of your questions in the Donna Morgan Facebook Chat today at 12:30!

Be sure to keep your eyes open on the blog next week — we’re featuring Emily’s wedding from V5!!!

Have a fun weekend, y’all!
