Talented, professional, compassionate vendors are the backbone of every smoothly running wedding day. When you hire people who are great at what they do AND good people to boot, your only job on your wedding day will be to act as a gracious hostess, love your family and friends well, and say “I do.” What a blessing! That’s why we’re passionate about our Blue Ribbon Vendors–because we want y’all to be worrying about those three things, and nothing else. Here are a few we’d love to introduce you to!

Name: Caroline Parrone of Stella Plantation
Category: Venue

Favorite thing about weddings in the South? The couples are so sweet! It’s always a pleasure to help combine their two personalities to create a celebration that joins their families and represents them as a couple.

Names: MaryClare and Chris Serio of Bride Film
Category: Videography
Where you call home: New Orleans
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? Food, music, more food…need we say more? Only at a Southern wedding will you indulge in shrimp and grits, gumbo, AND beignets, and then take your happy tummy out to the streets to dance the night away with the most fabulous jazz band and a drink in hand. Southern weddings have a charm and vibrancy second to none!

Name: Ginger Cook Event & Floral Design
Category: Event Planning and Design
Where you call home: Diamondhead, MS
Favorite part of a wedding day? I have a bunch! But one of my top favorites is seeing the bride’s face when she sees her wedding ceremony and reception for the first time. I absolutely love the moment that she sees her dream wedding come to life.

Name: Hannah Mayson Photography
Category: Photography
Where you call home: Austin, Texas
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Enjoy your day! Trust the details to the people you’ve hired so you can celebrate. Above all, remember that your marriage is so much more important than you wedding!

Name: Heather Kline Photography
Category: Photography
Where you call home: Any small town with a main street, oak trees, front porches with swings, and cold sweet tea!
How I got into weddings: My family and I went on vacation one year, and on the Blue Ridge train ride met this incredible guy with an impressive gear bag of photographic equipment. I was already looking for a creative outlet in my life, and that was the official impetus to begin the journey that began a reawakening of a talent discovered way back in my high school darkroom! A few more classes, some mentoring, and a lot of shutter clicks later, I knew that photographing weddings was it for me. The energy of the day, the emotions and giggles, all kept me on an adrenaline rush that I absolutely love! I love the couples and families I work with, the vendors I meet, and I wouldn’t want to do anything else in the world than what I’m doing now!

Name: Judy Hill of High Cotton
Category: Fashion
Where you call home: Raleigh, North Carolina
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? I love the small details about Southern weddings the most: strings of lights, fragrant Southern flowers, grandma’s recipes on the pie bar, a beau tie bar with colorful bow ties, and the delightfully warm and carefree atmosphere that Southern weddings exude.

Name: Jessica Lynn Hatton Photography
Category: Photography
Where you call home: Lexington, KY
Favorite part of a wedding day? My favorite part of the wedding day is listening to the vows and watching the newlyweds walk down the aisle after they are married and seeing their heavenly smiles.

Name: Justin DeMutiis Photography
Category: Photography
Where you call home: Tampa, Florida
How I got into weddings: I started in high school with a passion for nature and landscape photography and a desire to preserve the most beautiful scenes and moments in a faithful way. My health teacher was also a wedding photographer, and when she saw my passion for photography she took me under her wing and taught me about portraits and weddings!

Name: Sarah Ntouskas of Make It Posh
Category: Event Planning and Design
Where you call home: Mechanicsville, VA
Favorite part of a wedding day? The father-daughter dance. It gets me every time. I am not a crier by nature and can stay dry through the most touching of vows, but it’s all waterworks during the dances. I can’t help but think one day that will be my husband with our girls.

Name: Anna Stouffer of Urban Petals
Category: Floral Design
Where you call home: Greenville, South Carolina
Favorite part of a wedding day? Giving a bride her bouquet, hands down! I absolutely love seeing her expression and often tears of joy!!

Hey, y’all! Happy Friday! We have kind of an interesting post to share with you today. It comes with lots of goodies, so make sure you listen up!

One of the many reasons why I fell in love with our wedding videographers was their impeccable taste in music. Philip has a knack for choosing the perfect song for each film, one that sets the scene and helps the couple’s story come to life. This couldn’t be more important, because even with the best footage in the world, an “off” song can discolor an entire film in no time.

This is just one reason why I love The Music Bed, an awesome tool and source of inspiration. By making it easy and legal for videographers to affordably license music people like you and I actually want to listen to, The Music Bed makes it easier for videographers to create something we’ll fall in love with. Plus, it helps support the (often newer or smaller) musical artists, and allows the wedding artists to create more creative pieces, since they no longer have to use on the same ten songs as everyone else.

The Music Bed can also be a source of inspiration for couples planning their weddings, as its curated library is filled with thousands of handpicked songs just ripe for their ceremony or reception debut. I certainly believe in the power of personal music — that’s why we agonized for so long over our ceremony choices! — so anything that can help me think out of the box is a winner in my book.

So what are those goodies for y’all that I mentioned up top? Mary Kate from The Music Bed, who just so happens to be a recently-engaged Southern bride herself (fun!), has handpicked a selection of 20 songs from their library. Just click here to give it a listen! We hope it gets your wheels turning for creative ceremony and reception options!

And finally, for an additional treat, we have three spectacular wedding films to share, all created with music licensed through The Music Bed. Definitely set aside some time to watch them! First up is Lindsey + Andrew’s Texas wedding by Joe Simon, using “London” by Benjamin Dunn.

Next we have Rachel + Sam’s Oregon wedding by Moetic Wedding Films, using “Alas We Aspire” by Amy Stroup.

Last but not least we have Mara + Elo’s Philippines same day edit by Jason Magbanua, using “Our Love” by Seryn.

Be sure to check out the entire library here. Happy listening, belles!

Hello, I know it’s 3yrs since this post, but what’s the top 20 wedding songs list? The link to the playlist on musicbed, is broken. Thanks!

I checked out Musicbed and it’s a great looking site, seems to have gone from strength to strength since this post. Would love to see an update on the most popular wedding songs at the moment.

The Music Bed has the best selection of all the music license sites that I’ve used. Their interface is pretty easy to use as well and you can find hidden gems like these tunes all the time.

Oh my word. Y’all are going to love this sweet couple, and I think you’ll especially love the video messages they sent to each other the morning of their wedding which Caravan Cinema Co. kindly included in their highlights film for our enjoyment. If you’re already married, I think they’ll bring you right back to the rush of emotions from the morning of your own wedding (I know they did for me!). If you’re not yet married, you’ll probably get butterflies in your stomach and a happy little smile on your face just picturing it! Please enjoy…

From the bride, Carly:

There is something about video that brings a day to life even more than photographs can themselves. For this, we are grateful that Jon and Jacob at Caravan Cinema Co. captured our day so we could hang on to it a little tighter for years to come. My dad said this short film was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen and that he could watch it 1000 times over again — and we feel the exact same way. Caravan captured every Southern, rustic detail and each meaningful moment that happened in between frames in a way that would not otherwise have been captured. And, it is so “Carolina,” which is special to us, as Chapel Hill is where our unexpected love story all began.

Thank you so much, Caravan! Have a wonderful weekend, belles!

Thank you for making me cry. Those messages they sent each other are adorable. This is why I love weddings so much. While others are cynical about marriage and love, people like Carly and Allen make you smile because you feel their love for each other and give you hope that real love does exists. Congratulations on your big day! It looked like a super fun wedding.
