How I got into weddings: In college I was the party planner. I planned sorority events, alumni events, and charitable affairs. In our last year, one of our sisters got engaged, and we all pulled together to plan her wedding. After college, I fell into a corporate planning job and weddings took a back burner to the Fortune 500. Then I got engaged, along with six other girls in my office! Next thing you knew I was planning all our weddings, their sisters’ weddings, and so on. This path wasn’t planned or expected, but I sure do feel blessed to be doing it!
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? I love that in the South no one is a stranger and you can feel at home wherever you are. Events in the South are focused on welcoming everyone and bringing them all together. There is no stuffiness in the South! Who says you can’t eat mac and cheese (with a sidecar of bourbon) in an evening gown?!
Favorite part of a wedding day? The father-daughter dance. It gets me every time. I am not a crier by nature and can stay dry through the most touching of vows, but it’s all waterworks during the dances. I can’t help but think one day that will be my husband with our girls.
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Slow down! Take it all in stride, and plan for your marriage and not just your wedding. When you get bogged down in the detail of everything, you lose sight of what is really important.
Dream travel destination? I’d love to see the whole world someday! It’s on my bucket list.
Favorite Southern city? Savannah or Charleston… who could chose between them?!
Pie bar or red velvet cake? Pie bar, most definitely!
Pottery Barn or Anthropologie? Both!!
Succulents or peonies? Peonies
