Southern Weddings

Oh wow. So many adorable details! Kristen + Chad charmed their guests with rustic and Southern elements throughout their reception. Burlap made an appearance in their banner, guestbook and tables, while gingham dressed up favors, signs and mason jars. The newlyweds were delighted with the surprise wishing well set up for them by Historic Cedarwood, a sweet nod to their engagement (read about it in Part I). We love the sentimentality and the Southern inclusions like the quilt-lined red pickup, the wicker basket-adorned tandem bike, and the fabric touches. It makes us feel right at home and ridiculously happy for this so-in-love couple. Thanks again to Landon Jacob for sharing!

Describe your wedding cake: Our cake was so delicious! It was seriously the best cake I have ever tasted! I am not big on cake and icing, but I could eat this cake everyday! It was so moist and full of flavor.
What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? Mason jars – they were everywhere! I have become obsessed with them over the last year and I knew that I wanted them everywhere, with flowers and candles, used in the sand ceremony, and to drink out of (this is the South and sweet tea belongs in a mason jar!). Our gifts to our guests was mason jars filled with lemon drops, draped with a piece of gingham, and tied off with jute and a thank you tag. I also knew that I wanted gingham and burlap everywhere. The gingham gave the wedding such a fun and comfortable feeling and the burlap gave a very country-chic feel to everything. The bridesmaids’ bouquets all had burlap and gingham wrapped around them. My sister and I had pieces of lace from our mother’s wedding veil wrapped around our bouquets, which is very special to us. The venue was already complete with Southern charm. The ceremony took place by a big red barn with an old Ford truck sitting off to the side. I had to incorporate my cowgirl boots into a few pictures because I love them and they were my mother’s boots when she was younger and rode horses.
What range did your wedding budget fall into? $10,000-$25,000
What is the one thing you are most happy you splurged on? The venue! Cedarwood is an all inclusive wedding package! They took care of everything and made it such a wonderful day. I was never stressed about the wedding, wondering if things would get done or not. I always felt so comfortable about Cedarwood and I knew from their blogs and previous weddings that I would love what they did with mine. We are also happy that we spent extra on our catering. Chad and I wanted everyone to have fun, relax, and remember the night! We wanted food that we loved, so we chose a mix of gourmet hamburgers, chicken quesadillas, pulled chicken and pulled pork. We also had fruit, cheeses, chips and variety of dips. We had so many compliments on the food… it was delicious!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Our first look at each other! I was waiting in the bride’s room ready to go and getting so nervous. Right before I went out to meet Chad, I was handed a sweet card that he wrote! I followed the photographer out to the red barn that we love so much. They had me wait on one side and walk up to see Chad… I was standing there just knowing he was on the other side and I felt like a little girl with a crush. I had butterflies and could not stop smiling. The emotions and looks that we gave each other will always be something we remember from that day! It was such a sweet moment that we will forever cherish.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? We have moved to North Carolina and are away from our families, which is hard but also an exciting step for us to be somewhere new together and grow as husband and wife. We are looking forward to spending time together, traveling, laughing a lot, and being happy. We both want to get in a good place with our careers and hope to someday raise a family. For now, our sweet dog Denver is our child and she is so spoiled.
