I have very unfortunately not been to Charleston yet, but weddings like these that strike such a lovely balance between preppy, coastal, elegant, and feminine have me wanting to plan a road trip ASAP. Cameron and Evan have grace and style for days, and the details they chose for their wedding–from Cameron’s gently cascading orchid bouquet to the groom and groomsmen’s white dinner jackets–reflect that perfectly. They also happen to have one of the most fun modes of exit transportation I can think of, and a wonderful attitude when things didn’t go quite right (see their most memorable moment). They were married, and that was the important thing!

Thank you so much to Virgil for sharing Cameron and Evan’s beautiful wedding with us!

In the fall of 2009, I picked up my life in Washington DC and took a leap of faith by moving to Montgomery, Alabama to work on a political campaign. I remembered a friend from college, Jason, was living in Montgomery, so I called and let him know I was moving. He introduced me to his then-girlfriend and now wife, Alice, and she and I quickly became best friends. Right before Christmas that year, Alice, Jason and I went out in Montgomery and ran into Evan, who was a good friend of Alice’s from high school. Alice always says the rest was history because once she introduced us, it was like she wasn’t even there! We hit it off that night and Evan asked me out on a date the following week. We have been inseparable ever since.

Cameron’s bridesmaids sure were lucky gals–Lilly Pulitzer cocktail dresses and monogrammed bouquet wraps? That’s a style any Southern bridesmaid is sure to love wearing!

Describe your wedding flowers. Our florist, Harriet Gilmore, is so talented and made my dream of an orchid bouquet a reality. One of my favorite parts of our wedding was the bouquet she created for me! My bridesmaids carried bouquets of roses and hydrangeas.

Did you decide to do a “first look”? Why or why not? I felt strongly about Evan seeing me in my wedding dress for the first time when the doors of the church opened up and I walked down the aisle, so we did not do a first look. We had a close encounter by the church right before the ceremony, but luckily, our wedding party was helpful in making sure we didn’t accidentally see each other. The only person that saw my wedding dress before the day of our wedding was my mom. It was fun to see everyone’s reaction!
What readings, if any, did you have at your ceremony? 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 and Colossians 3:12-17

Did you have something borrowed, blue, old, and new? If so, do tell! I borrowed a pearl bracelet from my Aunt Fran and I wore my dad’s sapphire pinky ring on my right hand as my old and blue item. The pearl earrings Evan gave to me as a gift on our wedding day and my hot pink bedazzled Kate Spade shoes were my something new.

Our wedding planner, Harriet, had a vision for the wedding decor and flowers and made sure everything came together perfectly. Also, hiring Virgil as our photographer was the best decision I made throughout the wedding planning process. He was perfect and made me feel so comfortable. I couldn’t be happier with our pictures.

Describe your wedding cake or dessert. We had a traditional tiered pound cake with buttercream, decorated with hydrangeas to fill the spaces between the layers.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: The food! One of our favorite restaurants in Charlotte, NC is called Cowfish, so “sushi/burger fusion” was our inspiration. We had sliders, fresh seafood, and sushi with pink nori wrappers, since pink was one of our wedding colors. We also incorporated traditional Southern foods like low country egg rolls, mini tomato pies and sweet potato biscuits with fried chicken as a late night passing. As a nod to Evan and all our friends that traveled from Alabama, we served a popular drink from the Alabama coast called a Bushwhacker with Auburn flags in them. Evan is a huge Auburn fan.

What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? I wanted our wedding to be traditional, but fun. Part of that for me was not seeing each other from Friday night until the ceremony. Evan stayed at our house with my brother the night before our wedding and I stayed at the Wentworth Mansion nearby, which was special to us because it was the building where my Grandfather’s company was for years before it was renovated to become a hotel. We left the reception on a sailboat, which I thought that was very romantic and unique! To me, being Southern is a state of mind, so I’d like to think all aspects of our wedding were Southern!

Tell us all about the proposal! After a fun-filled week of celebrating friends’ birthdays, we planned to cook dinner in on a Thursday night. Evan acted totally normal that day and nothing seemed off. I went to the gym late that afternoon, and when I got to Evan’s house, he was standing at the front door waiting for me. When I walked in, Evan got down on one knee, said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, and proposed. I, of course, said “yes!” and noticed Evan had flowers and champagne in the dining room. We sipped champagne and called our parents and a few friends before going to dinner at our favorite local restaurant, which was where we went on our first date.
When did y’all get married? August 18, 2012
How many friends, family members, and loved ones attended your wedding? 175
Tell us about finding your wedding dress. Before Evan and I got engaged, we were already planning to go home to Charleston with my parents during the first weekend of February. Thankfully, Evan timed the proposal well, so my mom and I quickly began wedding planning that weekend. I went to a few bridal boutiques in Charleston and found two dresses that I loved. I knew I wanted something fun and different, and I loved the girls at Maddison Row, so by the end of the day, I knew the dress I had chosen there was the one.
Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them. I walked down the aisle to “Prince of Denmark’s March” by Clarke and Evan and I walked back up the aisle to “Rondeau” by Mouret. I loved the music played during our ceremony because the organist at the French Huguenot church, George, is so wonderful! Our first dance song was to “Stand by Me” by Otis Redding. The first dance song was never anything we gave a ton of thought to. We picked a song and decided to wing it!
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Planning long distance was difficult, especially because of our short engagement. Also, I was pretty indecisive at times. There were things I felt strongly about that I made sure were exactly how I wanted them to be and there were lots of things I didn’t feel strongly about. I was very trusting of my vendors and it worked out well!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? I have so many! I loved getting ready with my bridesmaids the day of the wedding. We listed to fun oldies music, danced and drank champagne. I would say one of the most special moments of the day for me was walking down the stairs in my dress to see my dad for the first time. Most of our friends and family say the most memorable moment of our wedding was one of the groomsmen getting on stage with the band singing “Funky Cold Medina.” Lastly, one of our favorite funny moments was after the sailboat docked and dropped us off at the Ashley Marina. We were standing in the parking lot of a gas station trying to flag a cab for about 45 minutes because our rickshaw ride didn’t show up. Evan and I couldn’t stop laughing.
What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? I would say decide on a few things that are important to you as a bride and make them your own. And don’t let the process of planning a wedding get in the way of your overall happiness! I let the stress of the planning get to me at times and its not worth it!
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you most looking forward to about married life? Evan started practicing law right after we got back from our honeymoon. We bought our first home together in December, so I have been busy decorating! As cliche as it sounds, I am just looking forward to spending the rest of my life with my best friend! Every day with Evan is an adventure. Whether its a road trip or a cooking dinner, it’s always fun.

One of the things I love about our new editor Lisa is that she shares my affinity for tearing up while reading Real Wedding interviews. And even though she cautioned me while prepping this post that Mariana’s dress story was absolutely precious, I still couldn’t help having to reach for a tissue or two! Be sure to read all about it, but let me say that when Mariana’s dad said “you look like an angel,” I was already two tissues deep!

Don’t think the sweetness stopped at her dress shopping trip, though — Mariana + Jacob’s entire wedding day was filled with heartfelt details and meaningful moments carefully orchestrated by their talented planners, Ooh! Events.

Cheers to Marissa Joy Photography for sharing this delightful day!

I flew into Savannah over Memorial Day weekend of 2012 and met up with one of my two maids of honor who lived there. We then drove into Charleston and met my parents. At this point, I knew we would be getting married in Charleston, which is where my parents were married, so I wanted to find my dress there and leave it until the big day. We went to the bridal salon and I picked out a few dresses and let each of my parents and my MOH pick one as well.

I should have prefaced this story with the fact that my dad is from the Czech Republic, a country well known for its lace exports. As soon as I put on my dress, my dad started to tear up and said that it reminded him of home and the lace doilies my Baba (grandmother) and aunt used to make. I wanted the dress to mean something to me, but I also wanted it to mean something to my parents, so I knew this had to be the dress. When I put my veil on and my dad said, “You look like an angel,” I knew I had found the one!

I had a very random assortment of flowers for the wedding, as I didn’t want anything to look too uniform. We had a very rustic, shabby chic wedding and I wanted the flowers to reflect that. The bouquets were made up of peonies, roses and ranunculus, and the groom and groomsmen wore ranunculus with a touch of rosemary. I wanted rosemary because it is said to increase memory, and I wanted to always have the memories from this day. I have kept Jacob’s dried boutonniere in my purse since the wedding :)

Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? We did not write our own vows. The church we were married in required that we follow the Liturgy of the United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Service of Christian Marriage is the only service used. We could not have been more pleased with our service and were truly grateful for the counseling, prayers, generosity and guidance we received from our Reverend and church coordinator.
What readings, if any, did you have at your ceremony? We had two readings: Ephesians 4:25-5:2, and Colossians 3:12–17 from the New Revised Standard Version.

I love seeing that Mariana included friends in their house party. We love how they wore coordinating dresses in complimentary colors!

I would have to say that M + J didn’t miss any portraits by passing on a first look. Especially when the element of surprise was so important to Jacob!

Our favorite detail of the wedding was: We would both say the best detail from the wedding (besides the exchange of vows, of course!) was the view from the cotton dock. Having a place to gather on the water, the hanging Spanish moss and lanterns above us, and the old plantation grounds as we pulled up all made for such a picturesque setting.

Describe your wedding flowers. The flowers for the church were all white with mixtures of lilies, hydrangeas, peonies, myrtle, snapdragons, tulips, and Queen Anne’s lace. The flowers at the reception were pink peonies, white and pink garden roses, green and white hydrangea, scabiosa pods, hanging amaranthus, and baby’s breath, all set in vintage tins, blue mason jars, medicine bottles and antique milk glass compotes. It was breathtaking!

Describe your wedding cake or dessert. Jacob and I wanted the dessert to reflect the rustic look of the cotton dock, and since we aren’t big cake people, we opted for a smaller naked cake with an assortment of pies. The cake was a pound cake with lemon custard icing between the layers, covered in fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. The pies were bourbon chocolate pecan, cherry, peach and apple. Everything was absolutely delicious!

What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? Everything! The location alone was the epitome of the South to me. The ceremony was in historic downtown Charleston in a church whose congregation is 222 years old. We headed out to Boone Hall for the reception, which is one of America’s oldest working plantations, known for cotton and pecans. Our menu included fried green tomato BLTs with pimiento cheese on cheddar cornbread, pork tenderloin, mini angus burgers, and pulled pork with blue cheese cole slaw. We sipped on a specialty cocktail that was lavender-infused Firefly sweet tea vodka and lemonade. It was everything I had grown up knowing and loving about the South and the east coast!

How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story. I moved to Dallas from North Carolina in the summer of 2009, knowing no one. To beat the heat in Dallas, you basically have to live by the pool, and I quickly made a friend that I hung out with on the weekends. One Saturday, we were laying out when Jacob and his best friend walked in. I could not take my eyes off of him! I think I blabbered to my friend about him for thirty minutes or so before she actually acknowledged me and looked over at him. She suddenly said, “Oh, I know him! We were neighbors last year!” She introduced us right away and to say we were inseparable after that is an understatement. We went on eight dates over the next seven days and the rest was history!
Tell us all about the proposal! Jacob and I had been dating for about a year and a half when his company approached him with the opportunity to work on a job site in Frederick, Maryland. He would be helping manage the building of a cancer and AIDS research facility, and since cancer has touched so many of our family members’ lives, we knew he had to take the job. His company was truly wonderful and covered the expenses to fly Jacob home or me there twice a month! With me being from the east coast, I was so excited to show Jacob new cities and places I had visited growing up. The 18 months he was there allowed us chances to travel that we wouldn’t have otherwise had. We visited Baltimore and DC several times, and Gettysburg and Annapolis with both his parents and mine. One weekend before Valentine’s Day, he was back in Dallas and we were celebrating early over dinner. He gave me a card and inside he had written, “I hope you enjoy your late Valentine’s gift” and drawn a giant red apple. He then told me that on my next trip to Maryland, we would be driving into New York City. I just assumed it would be like any of the other trips we had been on, but I knew it would be special because it was the first place we had ever traveled together, and probably one of our most memorable trips. When we got there the next weekend, we re-created our date there two years earlier with dinner in Little Italy at SPQR, and then he surprised me with a trip to Rockefeller Center to go ice-skating. We had been there literally ten minutes when another man got down on one knee in the Center and proposed. I was so excited for this couple, but Jacob looked like he was going to be sick! We kept skating but he was acting strange and after about thirty minutes, I asked if we should go. All of a sudden, he tripped and fell and we both laughed and I said it was definitely time to head back to the hotel. We skated for a few more minutes, but he kept rubbing his knee. Finally he started to bend down and I kept saying, “What are you doing? Are you okay? Get up!” When I finally realized what was happening, everyone was cheering and clapping and I barely made it out as he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. To which I, of course, responded yes!
When did y’all get married? June 15th, 2013
How many friends, family members, and loved ones attended your wedding? 110

Did you decide to do a “first look”? Why or why not? We did not do a first look. One thing everyone knows about Jacob is that he loves surprises and hates when people give anything away—something that I am always guilty of. I can’t keep a secret to save my life, and it was so hard not to show him pictures of me in the wedding dress, because he was the one person that I wanted to see them. I knew this was one surprise I had to give him and I wanted, more than anything, to see that look on his face when the doors opened at the church. To me, that was worth it more than getting pictures out of the way early with a first look.

Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them. Our ceremony music was played on the organ. My bridal processional was to Rondeau by J. Mouret, and our recessional was to Trumpet Tune by H. Purcell. For the reception, we played a lot of western music because many of our guests were from Texas and Jacob and I love to two-step! Our first dance was to “Just Got Started Lovin’ You” by James Otto, we cut the cake to “Sweet Thing” by Keith Urban, and I threw my bouquet while Shania Twain’s “Any Man of Mine” played.
Did you have something borrowed, blue, old, and new? If so, do tell! My dress, veil and shoes were my something new. Old and borrowed was a beautiful vintage diamond bracelet that Jacob’s grandfather had given his mother. She asked if I would want to wear it on the wedding day, and I could not have appreciated the gesture more. It was absolutely stunning and it meant so much to me to have it on my arm. My something blue was a pair of hanky pankies (!) that my maid of honor had given me that had Swarovski crystals on it that said “I Do.”
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Planning from Texas and not being able to meet with vendors or see the venue whenever I wanted to.
If you are comfortable responding, what range did your wedding budget fall into? $50,000-$75,000
What is the one detail or vendor that you were so happy to have as a part of your wedding? Hands down, Ooh Events!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Jacob had just whispered “you look beautiful” during the ceremony and missed the beginning of his vows. It made everyone laugh but it meant so much to me.
What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? Take your time with the planning, if you can. I had 15 months and thought it all had to be done right away. Once I got over the initial high of being engaged, I realized I had plenty of time to figure out all the details, and in the end every single thing was perfect.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you most looking forward to about married life? We are in the process of buying our first home in Uptown Dallas and we look forward to starting our family and enjoying every bit of each other!

Y’ALL. Before we even get into how much I love this wedding, can we just talk about how adorable these little sheep are??

I had to get that out of my system. As soon as I saw the images in this post, I emailed Marissa and squealed about the furry farm animals to her! Though it’s a huge plus, it’s not the only thing we love about Casey + Craig’s wedding. Casey actually said she had trouble figuring out exactly how she wanted the wedding to look within their five-month engagement. “I had always wanted to get married, but for some reason I always skipped the wedding and dreamed about the marriage itself. Which is good, but not so much for wedding planning!!” Thankfully, Casey’s friends gave her a lot of advice. However, to me, it feels like the couple made each decision based on what they like, not what matched their inspiration board — and I kind of love it. The result feels elegant and easy. Big hugs to Landon Jacob Photography for sharing this one with us!

These invitations kill me. The bold black calligraphy is so fun! After searching fruitlessly for invitations that she loved, Casey actually drew out the invitations herself and then took them to a local printer. I also love Casey’s pick for her bridesmaid dresses. They’re romantic and flow beautifully, but her bridesmaids will probably rock them for multiple other occasions!

Tell us about finding your wedding dress.
I found my dress at Evelyn’s Bridal in Lugoff. It was the second place I visited, and I’m so glad that I did. They were extremely patient with me as I tried on dress after dress after dress. I wasn’t really sure what I was looking for, which made starting difficult, but they were so helpful! The dress I ended up loving was unlike anything I’d seen, but still so simple and classic. The bow was definitely a selling point for me because it was different from all the lace that’s in style right now. The buttons also went all the way down the back, which I found so romantic and sweet.

Describe your wedding flowers.
I love flowers, but I really wanted to keep things simple and classic, so I wanted a lot of greenery and just a few white flowers for contrast. There were white tulips and hydrangeas and magnolia leaves everywhere. Honestly, my favorite of all the flowers was my bouquet. I wanted something less structured but still very pretty, and Jordan really delivered — I loved it!

I die!!! Too cute.

We did decide to do a “first look” and it was honestly my favorite part of the day. I stayed with the bridesmaids at Old McCaskill’s Farm in Rembert, about a 15 minute drive from the ceremony site, so everyone popped over for pictures beforehand and it made the transition from ceremony to reception seamless and easy (the ceremony was done on one side of TenEleven Galleria and the reception on the other). After all of those were finished, Craig stuck around for five or ten minutes and we got to just be still together and enjoy a few minutes of calm before things got crazy. It was such a sweet moment for us to get to enjoy each other’s company while engaged for one last time. It definitely helped to ease both of our nerves before the ceremony. I was originally concerned that it would take something away from how special my walk down the aisle would be, but I think it actually added some excitement and comfort and reminded me of how completely ready I was to be this man’s wife. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s considering it!

We didn’t have any readings at our ceremony, however we were very concerned about the pastor’s remarks — we wanted it to be a ceremony full of truth about the Gospel and what marriage is really about. Jon did such a great job, and I really think the Lord was glorified. I like to think we tricked many of our friends and family who don’t know the Lord into coming to a service to hear about Him. Ultimately, we wanted things to be about Jesus, not about us.

What was Southern about your wedding?
One of the biggest Southern things about our wedding was the food at our reception. In the South, we’re big on comfort and hospitality, and as a couple, we wanted everyone to feel welcome and warm and comfortable. So we had a coffee and hot chocolate bar, a mashed potato bar (with regular AND sweet mashed potatoes — seriously my favorite ever), and parmesan-encrusted chicken with macaroni and cheese bites, which were perfectly warm and cheesy and AMAZING.

Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding.
As people were arriving, we had Travis and Ashley sing “Forget Me Not” by The Civil Wars, one of my favorites. Mothers and grandmothers walked to “Where the West Wind Blows” by Green River Ordinance, which was very light and sweet, two things I really wanted the music to convey about our relationship. We have so much fun and are definitely goofier than subdued, but there have been such sweet undertones to our relationship from the beginning. I really felt like the music we chose for the ceremony reflected that well. I walked down the aisle to “I Am Yours” by Bethany Dillon, which was meant to be a reminder that even though from the ceremony on, I’ll be Craig’s, I belong to God first. We walked back up the aisle to “Gone, Gone, Gone” by Phillip Phillips. For the reception, we had the bridal party introduced to “Sexy Back” and we walked out to “Ignition (Remix),” which was some of the most fun I had! Our first dance was to Frank Sinatra’s “You Make Me Feel So Young” — it’s always been a song we love, but it grew a lot in sweetness as we realized how applicable it will (hopefully!) be in 40 or 50 years. I loved our first dance. It was appropriately sweet but still upbeat and so much fun!

I LOVED my wedding cake! I had such difficulty discerning how I wanted my wedding to look. I really struggled with wanting to make sure it wasn’t too “pinterest-y,” but I also wanted it to be sweet and cute and very much inspired by who we are as individuals and as a couple. That said, choosing my cake was an absolute breeze. I had seen a picture of a petal cake that I loved, so we basically replicated it with different flavors for each tier. The bottom was vanilla with cream cheese filling, then marble with chocolate filling, the third tier was lemon with lemon filling, and the top was vanilla and cream cheese. I LOVE all things lemon, so that third tier was really all for me, but I also loved giving our guests some options to choose from. I was so pleased with how it turned out. The stand was a big thing for me, as well – I didn’t want anything too big or shiny because I thought the cake itself would be much more beautiful on its own. We found a round pre-cut piece of wood from Lowe’s and stained it dark brown — it was absolutely perfect.

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story.
We met at the beginning of summer 2011, when we had the same group of friends from church and hung around each other all summer. We never had much of an individual friendship until the smoke detector went off in my house with super high ceilings — while I was in the shower! I couldn’t get it to stop and couldn’t reach the detector without jumping from a chair, and he was the only one to answer my phone call and come to the rescue. He’s super tall and fixed it with ease, cleaned my blood off the ceiling (because I had somehow cut myself trying to turn it off) and then sat down and began asking me about myself. That was really when I decided that I thought he was pretty cool. We were friends for a few more months, and then one night my roommates and I had everyone over to watch a movie. One by one, everyone left except Craig, and he and I ended up on opposite sides of the couch talking about everything from our families to broken bones to the things we wanted to do in life. Before I knew it, it was 6:00 in the morning. So he promptly left and I got a few minutes of sleep before my exam that morning at 8:00. We both just found each other so interesting, and he began texting me throughout the day and calling me pretty much every night and we’d talk for hours and hours. One of those nights, he called and said he wanted to pray about pursuing me as his girlfriend. We started officially dating a little while later, and exactly a year to the day after he told me he wanted to pursue me, he asked me to be his wife!!
Describe the proposal.
I was SO convinced it wasn’t happening that I didn’t catch on, though I should have guessed what was happening. Earlier that day, I had lunch with a friend and I specifically said that I knew it wasn’t happening because we had “plans” with his sister after our date, and that just didn’t seem very indicative of a proposal to me. However, that night I met him at his apartment where we ate dinner that he had prepared. Afterward, he told me there was a “part two” to our date, so we went to his car and he blindfolded me while I sat in the front seat (howwww did I not know?!) We drove for what seemed like FOREVER, and then finally parked. He carried me on his back for a few minutes. When he finally put me down and took off the blindfold, we were in the middle of Williams-Brice Stadium, our alma mater’s football stadium, which seats more than 80,000 people. It was empty but the lights were on, so it was one of the most overwhelming experiences of my life. His speech was short but sweet. We had saved saying “I love you” for engagement, so getting to finally hear those words was the absolute best. I had always said I would never cry, but I bawled like a baby. Then he blindfolded me again and took me to my best friend’s house, where all of our closest friends and family were gathered to celebrate with us. It was the BEST. I loved getting to share one of the best moments of my life with those people I care about most.

Our favorite detail of the wedding was:
I asked Craig what his favorite detail of the wedding was (just out of curiosity) and his reply was, “You! Your dress, seeing you — you were my favorite thing.” (The perfect answer, right?!) But when all is said and done, I agree with him. There were so many special and fun details that I loved. The mink I wore was my great-grandmother’s and the chandelier in the ceremony space — oh that chandelier, I fought SO hard for that thing! All I wanted was a crystal chandelier for that window, and we couldn’t find one for what we thought was a reasonable price. We found a working chandelier and spray-painted it an antique bronze. My sweet dad drilled holes and we strung thin pieces of wire through them to connect the crystals, most of which had been a part of my great-grandmother’s crystal chandelier. The venue was another favorite. As soon as we walked in, we both said, “Yup! We’re getting married here!” It just had such a warm and relaxed feel, which was something we really wanted. But however much I am in love with all of those things, on the day of the wedding the only person who was there to me was Craig. Seeing him and being with him, that was my favorite part. Because once the wedding is over, your marriage is what’s important and I just felt (and still feel!) so blessed to even know him, much less get to spend my life with him.
What range did your wedding budget fall into?
$10,000-$25,000
What is the one thing you are most happy you splurged on?
Staying with my bridesmaids at Old McCaskill’s Farm! It was such a pleasant and relaxing experience. And the LAMBS!! They had the sweetest lambs that we got to take pictures with; getting to play with them was one of my favorite parts of my wedding day.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?
When I think about my wedding day, I automatically picture myself on the porch steps with Craig after our first look was done, hugging and giggling and repeating over and over, “We’re getting married today!!” It was definitely my favorite moment of the whole day.
What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding?
Don’t get too caught up in the details. I think weddings now are great because they’re less traditional and give the bride a chance to make things more personal, but I also think that lends itself towards putting a lot of pressure on her to have a very detail-oriented day; I know I definitely felt that. But in reality, the day is SUCH a whirlwind that those things you thought were important just aren’t anymore. No matter what things look like, you’re getting married!! And that’s the whole point.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future?
Right now, we’re living in Columbia and learning how to be married, which has been so much easier than we thought, and the most fun I’ve ever had! We’re still praying about where the Lord wants us to be and looking forward to growing together in Him as a couple and individually. I just know I’ve already learned so much about God’s grace and patience through the way Craig loves me and patiently cares for me, and it’s so great! Marriage has been the BEST.

I never ever comment on posts (something I’m working on!) but there is something special about this wedding. Not only is incredibly beautiful, it is so heartwarming to see a couple so in love with each other and with God. I particularly enjoyed the sheep pictures, the simple flowers, the brides handmade invitations, and their sweet love story!

Now I have loved a lot of weddings on here, and I don’t know if I’m just feeling super emotional today or what…but this one just makes me misty! I love the sweet simplicity of every detail and Casey- your words about marriage and your love for one another is truly inspiring! I just love this so much!

Oh my lucky stars, this wedding couldn’t come closer to perfect if it tried. The lambs are the cutest things I have ever seen, but besides the adorable overload, her flowers were pure perfection!!

This is now one of my favorite weddings featured at Southern Weddings. I love that Casey and Craig personalized so much for their wedding day and didn’t lose sight of what it’s all about. They made their ceremony about Jesus and joining together for a marriage that will last with Christ as the center and foundation. I love that Casey used her great-grandmother’s mink (which is beautiful, by the way!) and her crystals for the chandelier and that dad was a part of that, too. I also love that she savored the moments leading up to “I do” both with Craig and her bridesmaids at the farm. Those sheep are so cute! I love that Craig’s favorite detail was Casey. This is an all-around gorgeous wedding. So inspired by this one. Congratulations and many blessings to Casey and Craig!

One of my favorite weddings I have seen on Southern Weddings. Which is shocking for me, since I am not usually so drawn to indoor weddings. But Casey and Craig did a wonderful job at planning a wedding that was romantic, classic, and rustic all at the same time. I also loved that their love for The Lord was so evident in their ceremony! Most definitely saving ideas from this wedding! Congrats to the new bride and groom!

I knew before I even clicked on the comments that this one was going to be a huge hit.

Y’all, this is the best wedding you’ve ever featured on the blog, hands down. I have never been so moved by a story and by a bride’s words. Casey, your perspective is refreshing and beautiful and SO perfect for the Sweet Tea Society. Thank you for sharing and reminding us all of what is most important, the Lord and each other, and that is all. I know Lara must be loving this feature so very much.

What a stunning couple, inside and out.

What a beautiful wedding and truly inspiring story of how this couple met and got engaged! How blessed they are to have found each other. And the ceremony? I love that they centered it around the Lord. Beautiful, beautiful post!
