Southern Weddings Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

It’s been quite dreary in our area this week, with rain stickin’ around like honey on your fingers. Thankfully, we’ve been quite distracted with the images on our blog.

We were happy to welcome some dinner party inspiration this week, especially when it’s as lovely and inviting as this get-together from Gibson Events. We picture it translating into one fine engagement party or rehearsal dinner.

Southern blooms hold a big piece of our hearts. We love the bouquets dreamed up for this V5 feature and how they represent the many parts of our home.

The best way to end a week of rain is with a shoot full of sunshine! We adore this bridesmaids shoot the day before the wedding — a perfect way to relieve stress with your gals and get some great photos from the fun.

Real weddings, we love you so!

Fay + Jon’s dock ceremony and farm reception gave guests a glimpse into the place where they fell in love. See it here.

Joanna + Paul’s casual wedding was meant to feel like a party in their backyard. We think the colorful details pull it off. See it here.

Erin + Michael’s lakeside wedding from V5 stole our hearts with the many details that showcased the couple’s life and passions. See it here and here.

Haley + Patrick’s wedding was another one with a warm dinner party-feel. We love their rustic-meets-elegant tented reception. See it here.

Great news!

We are thrilled to welcome the launch of Pressed Cotton, a shop full of lovely items for the finest Southern gatherings! Happily, they’re also found in our General Store. Be sure to head on over to see what’s new.

Don’t forget! Our fab editor Marissa will be answering all of your questions in the Donna Morgan Facebook Chat today at 12:30!

Be sure to keep your eyes open on the blog next week — we’re featuring Emily’s wedding from V5!!!

Have a fun weekend, y’all!

Now that we’re back in the office (and joined by two fab new interns!), we’re getting down the nitty gritty of making things happen. Y’all, there are so many ideas that have been floating around in our heads that we get to bring to life this year! Who else is excited?

We started off this week with a fun inspiration shoot that makes the traditional black and white scheme look fun and decadent.

With so many new brides-to-be, we made another call for our fab Southern Bride Bloggers. We’d love to have you join us!

Of course, now that we’ve got some new readers with new bling on their fingers, we also found it fit to do a little tour of the Southern Weddings world.

Our prop closet is still full of V5 goodies! We’re giving away beautiful items from our Family Heirlooms shoot, Something Old, Something New shot and our My Kentucky Rose shoot. Enter here and here.

Real Weddings are gooder than grits!

Nicki + Adam’s happy outdoor wedding made great use out of their waterside location and fun Southern pastimes. See it here.

Kalen + Park’s flower-filled wedding from V5 blew us away yet again. See it here and here.

Merideth + Patrick’s wedding was classic black and white with sweet pink touches and family-inspired details. See it here.

Wonderful things are happening!

Kimpton’s Monaco Alexandria is hosting a free Wedding Open House to brides on Saturday, February 23 from 11 to 3! Couples can tour the property, taste selections from Chef Brian McPherson of Jackson 20, and meet with wedding professionals and vendors! Raffle prizes will be drawn throughout the day including gift certificates and discounted services. Take a look here for more details.

Our fab editor Marissa will be answering all of your questions in the Donna Morgan Facebook Chat on Friday, January 18 at 12:30! Keep an eye out on the Facebook page for more details.

Biggest congratulations go to our former Southern Bride of the Month, Lauren, who tied the knot to her beau James! Take a look at Scobey Photography’s blog for more of the lovely photos.

And of course, a giant hug goes out everyone saying “I do” this weekend, including another one of our Southern Brides of the Month (and Southern Bride Bloggers!), Madi!

That’s a lot of good news, isn’t it? Now before y’all go, be sure to hop over to our Facebook Friday. We’ve got a fun session from Chris Isham up!

Happy weekend, y’all! It’s going to be 70 degrees in Chapel Hill, so you’ll find me outside.

With the blog full of V5 features, we took a second to round up October’s and November’s real weddings. See our highlights here.

While at engage!12, Lara had the chance to talk about how we do things ’round the Southern Weddings office and gush about y’all, our amazing readers. Thank you for sweetening our tea!

For our new friends checking us our for the first time (and for anyone who loves looking back on our features), Emily took a tour around our favorite features that represent the South.

We are thrilled to share our December Southern Bride of the Month, Madi! We feel like Madi is an old friend to the Southern Weddings gals and can’t wait to see her Southern winter wedding come to life. Get to know her here.

Real Weddings are the best!

Kinsey + Coley’s South Carolina wedding was fresh and preppy with a low country infusion. See it all here.
