Southern Weddings

As Lara just told y’all, the two of us are at the Engage conference in Palm Beach this week. We’ve made lots of new friends, and especially after Lara’s talk on Monday, we know there might be a few of you checking us out for the first time! We wanted to take just a minute to highlight some of our favorite editorial features, past and present, that, to us, represent the best of Southern Weddings and the best of the South.

First up, an oldie but goodie: our cover shoot from V3 by Joey & Jessica. This shoot really helped us crystallize our idea of “the Southern Weddings bride”!

The “Family Heirlooms” shoot from V5, in turn, helped us visualize the Southern Weddings community — as, yes, one big ol’ happy family! :) Eric Kelley photographed this one.

Our Charleston shoot from V4 oozed Southern style, and it doesn’t get more genteel than a table set at a polo field. Beautifully photographed by Bryan Johnson.

Speaking of classic, V4’s Williamsburg shoot, photographed by Katie Stoops, hit the nail of Virginia style directly on the head, in my humble opinion. This shoot still reigns as one of my very favorites.

Southerners love their food, and especially their dessert, and I’m so glad we were able to celebrate that this year with our pie shoot, photographed by Joey & Jessica.

V5’s Honey & Pecan shoot celebrated two hallmarks of the South, as we see them — sweetness and strength. Melissa Schollaert photographed this one in Georgia.

Of course, y’all know that one dearly beloved part of the South is our Southern gentlemen, and we were privileged to feature an article highlighting them in V5. Stephen DeVries provided the beautiful imagery.

And finally, there’s not much that’s more Southern than seersucker and cotton (or shooting outside on a 95+ degree day), as we showed in this V4 shoot by Joey & Jessica.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, y’all, but feel free to browse our editorial galleries and our boards on Pinterest! We look forward to seeing some new faces around these parts! :)
