It is with great excitement that I’m kicking off this week of Bridal Market recaps! Emily and I had a wonderful, whirlwind long weekend in New York City two weeks ago admiring the new collections from our (and your!) favorite designers, seeing old friends and making new ones, and greatly improving our taxi-catching skills. Our first day of Market was one of the busiest, and after flying into LaGuardia early in the morning, we headed straight over to our first show of the day. We’re so grateful that Briana Elledge of Divine Light Photography was on hand to capture all of the gorgeous gowns for us!

First stop, the Claire Pettibone show at the incredible High Line Hotel. Our sweet friends Alicia and Kylie were the talents behind the show’s stunning blooms, and we were so thrilled to run into them on our way inside! Claire’s collection was inspired by iconic Gothic cathedrals, and this inspiration combined with her signature ethereal, intricate style was truly striking. We were also delighted to see plenty of silver and blue, which we like to think had something to do with a certain magazine cover ;)

Going from romantic, bohemian Claire Pettibone to chic, modern Kelly Faetanini almost felt like a culture shock, in the best way! Kelly’s Fall 2015 collection was so true to her signature style: classic and elegant, with lots of fun details. The gowns were fashion-forward, but totally wearable for a traditional bride. We were also smitten with the braided updos and red lips on the models–it may have even inspired the bright lip colors we wore for the remainder of Market!

The venue of the Ines Di Santo show was amazing–it took place in a stunning mansion that opened up to an enclosed courtyard. Fake snow covered the floor, and the winter inspiration for the collection was more than evident in the shimmery tulle, sparkly beading, and crisp white fabrics. Ball gown-loving brides–this is one collection you’ll definitely want to try on!

We were so excited about the next show–Anne Barge, one of our favorite Southern designers. Her collection completely lived up to our expectations, and her elegant gowns, sweet detailing (Alencon lace! Satin bows! Stripes!), and lovely styling were some of our favorites from the weekend. We also had the opportunity to meet Anne after the show, and tell her some exciting news in person: one of her gowns will be gracing our V7 cover!

From the Anne Barge show, we hurried over to the Park Hyatt for Rivini. The collection included lots of edgy dresses with sheer detailing and interesting cutouts, but our favorites were the nontraditional takes on the classic ball gown silhouette.

After the show, we ran into some familiar faces! Randy Fenoli of Say Yes to the Dress is an old friend of Lara’s, who we were so happy to see, and we also introduced ourselves to Lori and Monte of Bridals by Lori (from Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta). As y’all can imagine, they are all just as kind and gracious as they seem on TV, and Lori and Monte’s accents brought us right home to the South for a minute!

Getting to our next presentation was a bit of a hike, but it was completely worth it as soon as we stepped into the Sarah Seven flagship! Since it was a presentation rather than a runway show, we got to see her new collection up close and ask Sarah questions about her designs as the models showed them. Y’all, the fabrics she uses are incredible! We especially loved the off-the-shoulder gowns (so romantic!) and subtle beaded bodices.

There’s still even more to share from our first day at Market, but in the meantime, we’d love to hear which gowns are your favorites so far! I’m crazy about the silver lace gown from Claire Pettibone (fifth row), the shimmery tulle ball gown from Ines Di Santo (fourth row), and the low lace back at Anne Barge (first row), while Emily’s top picks are the sparkly illusion back Ines Di Santo (first row), the subtle high-low ball gown from Rivini (second row), and the gray chiffon Sarah Seven (first row)!

Yes, we’re back with one last Bridal Market post! If you haven’t been keeping up on the blog, be sure to take a gander at all the previous posts. It’s one pretty page after another!

Let’s start with Miss Kelly Faetanini. Isn’t her purple peplum outfit adorable?

Okay, onto dresses! Kelly’s collection was what I like to call wearable fashion forward. Each gown had on-point style trends without being too risky for real brides to try on their wedding days.

I love the layered lace peplum of this tulle ball gown, and the best part… it’s removable! How clever is Kelly? What a fun way to wear the trend, but have the option for a more classic tulle ball gown look. I also adore the bustle in the front of the dress on the bottom left. This fit-to-flare gown is made of silk santung. Fancy!

Oh, and this finale! My oh my! Kristin and I literally gasped when this gown came down the runway. The simple silk satin fit-to-flare is accented perfectly with a lilac ombre-feathered skirt. Talk about wow factor! After the show, we couldn’t stop talking about those ombre feathers!

Now let’s talk glam! Matthew Christopher’s 2013 Couture collection was all about glamourous red carpet-esque gowns, and I’m all about that!

Classic silhouettes with luxe details gave the MC collection a sophisticated feel. Opulent silk satin was mixed with raw-edged organza flowers to combine into romantic pieces. My favorite has to be the Toujour L’Amour (on the bottom right) — this gown was inspired by cathedrals, and features a silk duchess bodice wrapped in elaborate beading, raw edge ruffles and crystals and pearls in a heart-shaped motif. Tres chic!

In between shows we were thrilled to be able to shoot a little Street Style session with our awesome photographer Kat Harris! She even snagged these behind-the-scenes shots of us running between shows. Yes, I am totally into my iPhone in both shots – either tweeting, or more likely trying to map out directions to the next show!

Isn’t Kristin adorable? That girl has sass! I’ll let you in on a little secret: this is my favorite outfit, and I wanted to wear it the entire trip! (I didn’t, though!)

Kat asked us to do our serious face. Well, you see how long that lasted! Want to know a little more about our outfits? Check out Kat’s blog! She featured US in her Refined Woman series. We’re so honored!

Thanks again to Kat for all of these images!

But wait, have you STILL not had enough Bridal Market 2012 goodness yet? Marissa and Kristen—Hey sweet girls! Thought you’d like to know that even almost a year later I keep coming back to this post for reference because I recently found out I will be attending bridal market with my new position! I am so excited and am already trying to plan outfits based off the cuteness that y’all sported last fall! Thanks for continuing to be a source of inspiration….through planning, wardrobe styling, travel plans and the like! :)

Can you believe we are only 20 days away from the arrival of V5? To help pass the time, join me for another look into Bridal Market 2012. I have lots of gorgeous gowns to share, plus an impromptu mini SW fashion show!! (PS: Don’t miss out on Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.)

We will start with the always amazing Badgley Mischka.

If I had to pick one word to describe this collection from Badgley Mischka, it would be glamour. The pleated tulle, delicate Chantilly lace and crystal embroidery (which was on almost EVERY gown – oh my stars) was soft and subtle and at the same time oh so glamorous. As a traditional ‘ballgown bride,’ I couldn’t help but wonder about trying on one of these lovely form-fitting beauties.

Our next step was a good ol’ squeal fest as we met and became fast friends with all the lovely LulaKate ladies. It was so fun to see these dresses in person, since they frequently make appearances on the blog in Real Wedding posts. Look for a few of these beauties in V5, too!

Somehow the LulaKate ladies convinced us to pull the frocks that we had been drooling over and have a mini SW fashion show. Marissa snagged a beautiful lace and striped dress with a detachable bow-belt, and I picked a lovely grey and white rugby stripe dress with pockets! After trying them on and prancing around, we decided we needed a place to wear these lovely dresses again.

Isn’t Katherine, the brilliant creator of LulaKate, just adorable? We were so grateful for her and her team and all their Southern hospitality.

Up next was Watters. During this show we were able to preview both the Watters and Wtoo collections, and boy oh boy were there a LOT of lovely dresses.

The camellia lacy overlay on the gown above added a layer of lovely texture to an already beautiful tulle ballgown. And of course, how can you not love the whisper pink beauty below with the hand-beaded detailing? We saw a lot of soft blush colors during Bridal Market this year, and this was definitely one of the prettiest.

The lovely C20 collection had some great LBD options that would be perfect for bridesmaids or maybe for a rehearsal dinner? This crewneck illusion lace dress was so chic, and I died over the hidden pockets in the sleeveless black satin number.

Finally, we stopped by the lovely Donna Morgan booth to take a peek at the fresh new styles and colors in their 2013 bridesmaid collection. We loved seeing the work of our friends Trent Bailey and Jackie of Merci New York on the walls of the Donna Morgan booth. The new campaign is gorgeous, y’all!

The coral dress, with its sassy texture, seemed like it would be the perfect thing to dance the night away in. And of course, we were all big fans of the stylish lace peplum in delicate pink.

We’ve got two more Bridal Market posts coming up, so stay tuned! BIG huge thanks to Kat Harris for photographing all these beauties for us!

P.S. Which is your favorite gown from this post? So hard to choose!

I love the last Badgely cuz it’s just SO Badgely ya know? I had my girls wear LulaKate and I just think her gowns are the cream of the crop. Love that she is bringing in some lace textures! My favorite Watters gown is Row 3 left one. so girly!

  2. avatar Emily reply

It’s so hard to pick a favorite with Badgley, because they’re all just so stunningly detailed, but I’m going to go with the one that looks like it has seashell embellishments. For Watters, I love the camellia lace overlay, and I adore all three of those bridesmaid looks! Love LulaKate and Donna Morgan as well!

  3. avatar Whitney reply

I love the last dress for my bridesmaids – the lace in delicate pink. Can you send me more details on that one? I MUST find it.

    • avatar Kristin reply

Whitney! I am pretty sure the lovely pink peplum will be available in the spring 2013. I will reach out to our Donna Morgan contact to confirm and definitely pass along any info I can collect for you!!

I love that LulaKate dress that Marissa tried on! I think it would work so beautifully for a rehearsal dinner dress or bridal shower dress.

    • avatar Marissa reply

Oh Victoria! It was even better in person! I about died when I got to try it on! It’s inspired by Blake Lively – die again! : )

  5. avatar Kat Harris reply

As crazy as NYC was…all these posts are making me want to go right back this instant.

Kat! I was thinking the exact same thing as I was crafting this blog post. We saw a LOT of gorgeous in 3 short days.

OMG I’m obsessed with Marissa’s dress! It’s perfect for a shower dress. I looked on the LulaKate website and didn’t see it. Do you know the name of it? LOVE
