Y’all, tell me, what is better than the weekend? Few things compare, except say, the weekend + close friends + ice cream + movies. That’s a winning combination! You know what I’ll be doing tomorrow and Sunday. Before you take off with your fantastic plans, let’s round-up the week!

We’ve had sooo many great things appear on the blog this week! First up was one of our favorites, the Southern Bride of the Month! Bride-to-be, Lauren met her fiance in kindergarten and is now planning her dream Texas wedding! (Really, y’all, she’s been collecting inspiration since high school!)

Emily gave y’all a little sneak peek behind the scenes of our latest photo shoot for V4 with Katie Stoops. Remember that time Sierra modeled as a bridesmaid? I do!

To hold us all over until V4 hits the stands, Marissa shared her favorite feature from V3, Something Blue by Jose Villa. She wanted to live in the blue and white gorgeousness from these spreads! Take a look and you’ll understand why.

Y’all know the South is steeped in tradition, so over the next few months, Marissa is going to give us all a history lesson! (We will admit, there are a few that we’re still curious about.) First up? The groom’s cake! Go to the original post to learn all about this yummy tradition.

Emily’s engaged! I can’t say it enough, I’m so excited! A few weeks ago, we asked you for your opinion on engagement rings. Now, Emily’s back to share her engagement story and ring hunt! Read all about it here.

Vendors, we issued you our first “Ultimate Southern” challenge this week! We want to know your most creative ideas for escort cards! We hope that brides everywhere will be executing these ideas soon enough! Go to the original post to get more details on how to submit.

Calling all Southern bride bloggers! We’re setting up a new page on the Southern Weddings blog for all you fellow bloggers. Tell us a little more about yourself and find out how to get on the page here!

We know there’s a ton to think about and do when you’re planning a wedding. I hope I can make it a little bit easier with my new How-To column! Read up on how to send your invitations here, where I gave you the basics on calligraphy, envelopes, mailing and stamps!

We know you can’t resist a photo booth! This week’s giveaway is going to help you make those silly photos even more fun! Say Cheese! Paper Props are the perfect addition to your wedding’s photo booth and you could win a specially made kit for Southern Weddings! Go to the original post to enter.

Emily spotted Southern utensil wrappings this week! These cowboy boot utensil packets are just so darn cute!

This week, Marissa is dishing out some tidbits about herself. We love Marissa! I think you will too when you Sit a Spell with her and get to know this fabulous lady!

Sierra shared Meg + Josh’s love story and wedding in this week’s Real Wedding Gallery. We’re crazy for the red and yellow details!

Take a look at this week’s Real Wedding!

Mary + Austin’s colorful backyard wedding had me wishing I’d been invited! Check out their Southern bash here and here.

Did you guys hear the good news?? If you follow all of us on Twitter, then you probably know by now, but we’re still over-the-moon-ridiculously-happy for Emily + John who got engaged last week! (Sly Emily kept it from us for a week!) There’s never been a better time to look back on all the wonderful features we posted this week and look forward to what’s ahead.

After we spent the weekend celebrating July Fourth, swimming at the lake, eating tons of barbecue and spending time with friends and family, we met you back here on Tuesday with the most adorable bridal shower inspiration. Designer Kristin Cone came up with an afternoon tea party to celebrate the upcoming nuptials and we love how girly and Southern it turned out!

Emily showed off her favorite V3 spread. After all this time, she still has a hard time picking a favorite (we can’t blame her!) but she finally chose our cover story feature, photographed by Joey + Jessica. The gorgeous photos might have caused her eyes to well up, it was so perfect!

We know how much a Southern girl loves her pearls, so we’re giving you the chance to win a bridal set with the luminescent beauties. Fine + Fleurie’s Swarovski pearl necklace and bracelet set are the perfect match to any wedding dress. Go to the original post to enter to win!

It’s the beginning of July, and you know what that means. Another Monthly Round-Up! Take a look at our favorite aspects of June’s Real Weddings, chosen by the fabulous Emily, Marissa and Sierra.

It’s seriously pure wedding bliss this week at Southern Weddings. Not only are we celebrating Emily’s engagement, but we want to know all about your family’s love stories of old! I loved looking at Lara’s family’s wedding photos and can’t wait to see some of yours! We’ll be highlighting one special couple every week, so go to the original post to find out how to submit those love stories!

I don’t know if you guys know this, but our Assistant Art Director, Sierra is amazing. She’s responsible for our Real Wedding Galleries and the cute graphics on our site. Sit a spell with her and get to know more about her!

Speaking of Real Wedding Galleries, this week’s featured gallery was Kiley + Tim. They lit up V3 with their fun color palette and great details.

Can’t get enough Real Weddings!

Bonnie + Brent’s Florida wedding was so relaxed and laid back. They really showed us how to appreciate a wedding! For more of the family-spun event, click here and here.

A few announcements:

David’s Bridal is giving one lucky couple the chance to win the ultimate royal treatment! Upload a photo of your and your sweetie to the David’s Bridal Facebook page and tell them how your partner makes you feel like royalty in 100 words or less. Fans will vote on their favorite love story and the winner gets a free 5-night stay at a tropical resort and a wedding dress fit for a princess.

philoSophies, a custom stationery and gift shop that provides whimsical illustrations wants to give you a custom drawing of you and your bridesmaids that you can frame for posterity! Look through philoSophies website and check out the details of the giveaway here.

Have a splendid weekend, friends!

Weekly Round-Up

Why hello, Friday. I’ve missed you so.

It’s been an exciting week for us! We’re still basking in the afterglow of our yard sale’s success. We seriously loved meeting all of you who came out and we can’t wait to do something else together soon! Amid our blossoming friendships and get-together brainstorming, we did actually manage to squeeze out some awesome posts. Want a recap? You came to the right place.

We’re looking for some ladies who like to have their hair and makeup done, dress up in pretty frocks and have their picture taken. Oh, that’s you? How lucky! We had such a fun time in Charleston with our reader models, that we’re doing it again! We need you to be models in our next V4 shoot! If you’re free on Tuesday, June 28 for a photo shoot in Williamsburg, send a headshot and a few candids to howdy at iloveswmag.com.

We needed your help this week and asked for your expert advice on engagement rings. Yet-to-be-engaged, engaged, or married–we know you’ve got opinions and we need some guidance! (Especially Emily. Her spidey sense is telling her a ring is on it’s way!! Can you tell how excited we are?) Go to the original post and pour your heart out! We’re taking notes.

Remember that yard sale? The one where we raised $1,489 for Stop Hunger Now and Southern tornado victims? It was awesome!! We had so much fun meeting all of you. Sierra walked us through the day and shared some reader photos! We also want to give you the chance to tell us what you’d like to do next. Go to the original post and let us know!

What could be better than winning a clutch or a bow tie? How about winning both? And they match! Oatmeal Lace and Collard Greens have partnered up to make you the cutest couple at the square dance. Head over to the original post to see just how cute these accessories are and to find out how to win.

June’s Southern Bride of the Month, Alison shared her sweet engagement story, wedding planning details and advice. We loved hearing about the process from her, and I loved her unique and sentimental save the dates! Head over to the post to read more about her big day!

We’re tossin’ up another giveaway! This one might make you a little teary-eyed, so grab a hankie and be prepared. It’s a good one, though. In honor of Father’s Day, tell us what you are doing on your big day to honor that special dad, step-dad, uncle, big bro or honorary gentleman that you love so dearly. The winner will get a copy of one of our favorite movies, Father of the Bride.

After meeting some of you on Friday, we couldn’t help but think that we should get to know each other a little better! This week, we introduced our “Sit a Spell with Us” series so that we can do just that. If you’d like, sit a spell with me. I’d love to hear if we have anything in common!

Sierra helped us recall Hannah + Chas’ intimate wedding in this week’s Real Weddings Gallery. We love the handmade feel and country dances!

We had some lovely Real Weddings:

Towne + Andy showed us “easy, boundless happiness” with their colorful Savannah wedding. I’m now seriously considering a ribbon installation in my house because of these two! See the happy couple here and here.

Lane + Dan had a wedding with tons of sentimental value! Their succulent-filled front porch wedding had us fawning over the details. See it here and here.

And now a photo to start your weekend:

I love this shot from Bobbi and Mike–the couple, ridiculously happy in the middle of the dance floor surrounded by their family and friends. That’s what it’s all about.

I have always adored that turquoise maids photo shoot, not only because of the beautiful readers and great styling, but also the Stella & Dot triple strand turquoise necklace. I added it to my personal collection after becoming a stylist and it’s on sale now. http://www.stelladot.com/elegantcoretta. I actually incorporated it into a an upcoming photoshoot I’m doing with turquoise and plum for http://www.corettaselegantevents.blogspot.com. Love the creativity at Stella & Dot. Now if we could just get a little more diversity in size and ethnicity…
