Happy Monday, ladies! Remember when we sent out a call for V4 reader models in Charleston? We had such a FABULOUS time with Caroline, Lionel, Susannah, Gardner, Farren, Kevin, Chelsea, and Bryce that we’re doing it again! We’ve got our bride taken care of this time around, but now we’re looking for a few lovely bridesmaids.

So! Want to get dressed up in pretty frocks, have your hair and makeup done by the experts and strike a pose or two, like our stunning reader ‘maids from V3?

We’re taking the show on the road to Williamsburg, VA, where I’ll be teaming up with a few fabulous vendors to produce a spread for V4. If you’re free for a Tuesday, June 28 photo shoot in Williamsburg and are at least 5’7*, we’d love for you to email a head shot and a few candids to howdy at iloveswmag.com. We can’t wait to hear from you!

*We hate to put a height requirement in, knowing there are lovely ladies of all shapes, but the particular fashion items we’re using will only work with taller ladies. Next time, shorter gals!! :)

Sponsor Love

We know y’all are always looking for amazing wedding vendors to surround yourselves with, so we thought we’d sign off for the weekend with a few gems that have recently joined the SW family.

It’s rare to find a photographer that is as equally skilled at capturing editorial-style details as they are at capturing real people and real emotion… which is why I’m thrilled to introduce you to Corbin Gurkin, one of our lovely wedding resource vendors. Corbin shoots mainly in film, and usually has her fiance, Thatcher, by her side at weddings. The SW ladies were lucky enough to get to meet and work with both of them at a recent V4 shoot in Charleston — can’t wait to share the images in September! Until then, check out Corbin’s gorgeous work on her blog and site.

From the minute Katherine joined the SW sponsor family, she won us over with her sweet personality, quick email response time, and fun branding. We’re sure all Katherine Miller Events brides feel the same way! Katherine is an ace at navigating the Charleston wedding market, infusing every event with charming details, fresh ideas, and plenty of style. Want proof? Just check out Amanda + Jared’s wedding that we featured earlier this year! (Posts here and here)

Matt and Leslie Keener are the darling husband-and-wife duo behind Elizabeth Scott Photography, based in Charlotte, NC. They travel all over the South shooting weddings in a style they describe as “clean and timeless, with a dash of fresh, modern, and fun.” Love that! You can check out more of their work on their blog and website!

We hope you love these vendors as much as we do! Want to get in on the action? Just email Whitney for a media kit!

Some of you more observant Twitter or Facebook followers might have caught a sneak peek or two from this weekend’s V4 shoot with Joey + Jessica Seawell (a.k.a the duo behind Veil and Bow, a.k.a. our brilliant V3 cover photographers). For those of you who didn’t, we’re here with a few behind the scenes photos to tide you over until September! And oh, just wait until September — the husband-and-wife duo behind Inkspot Crow came out to film the shoot, so you’ll be able to relieve all the sweaty, dirty, glamorous behind-the-scenes of this feature in motion in the fall!

On the left here we have Vera and friends chilling in my guest bathroom the night before the shoot. With $15,000 worth of merchandise in my protection, I did NOT want my pretty kitties to join the party… can you imagine the horror?!

On the right we have me the next day, prepping one of the props for a close-up shot. Let’s just say we were transforming a VERY common, VERY Southern, and decidedly unglamorous item into something sweet and lovely. In the background you can see the Dairi-o, source of much amusement (and food!) throughout the day.

Joey + Jessica are the real deal, y’all. We were shooting in a very small town in North Carolina, right next to a main road, and we joked that with all the screens and scrims and reflectors J+J brought, the residents were going to think a movie was in town. We also had a running contest throughout the day to see who could most accurately guess the number of car honks we would get. I guessed 15, Whitney guessed 16, and the winner, though disputed, was definitely one of the two of us.

Working hard or hardly working? From left to right, we had almost the full Southern Weddings crew in attendance: me (Emily, Art Director), Whitney (Ad Director), Marissa (Assistant Editor), Sierra (Assistant Art Director), Emily N. (Intern), and Nicole (Editorial Assistant). The only one missing was Lara!

On the left we have Jess, hard at work, and on the right, Joey, not hard at work. By the end of the day we were all incredibly dirty and sweaty, but also a bit giddy with success. Can’t WAIT to show you what we put together in V4, debuting in September!

A few notes: we’re still accepting real weddings for print, and will be until July 15! See this post for all the details, then email Emily. If you’re interested in getting in on the V4 ad action (and oh, you want to be), just drop Whitney a line. She’ll get you taken care of!

Seriously, SO much fun! My favorite photo might just be the one of Joey!

I see no evidence of sweat! Ya’ll look beautiful as always. I’m counting down the days for the V4 in September and I’m almost giddy with anticipation about tomorrow!!

You forgot to mention we spent $70+ in one big order at Dairi-O. Now that’s a lot of hot dogs and ice cream to feed a hungry crew! But the employees there were so nice about it and got essentially everything in our order right.

trying to get directions to your yard sale but no luck! Is there a way you can post it somewhere so you get some business! :)

  5. avatar Amanda reply

Bless it! I grew up going to that dairi-o, granted it has changed quite a bit over the last few years. I believe I know just which little small town you are in!

Amanda: Hilarious!! We were loving the Dairi-o that day, but I think they thought we were a little insane :) Oh, small Southern towns…
