Weddings at Virginia Beach

by in Sponsor Love on

One of the very best things about the South, in my opinion, is that you can find practically any type of landscape you can imagine, from forests, to fields, to mountains, to beaches. We’re focusing on the latter today, because as the temperatures drop, the beach sure sounds lovely! For a bride dreaming of a destination wedding by the water, there’s no need to jet off to a foreign country–Virginia Beach offers beautiful beaches right here in the South that create a destination feel without the headache of long-distance travel. Allow me to tell you a little more about this special corner of the South!

Thanks to the moderate temperatures throughout the year, Virginia Beach brides aren’t restricted to summer months–outdoor weddings are just as common in the spring and fall. Once you’ve settled on Virginia Beach for your celebration, there are three different beaches to choose from: Chesapeake Bay Beach, Resort Beach, and Sandbridge Beach. While they all offer the opportunity for the ceremonies in the sand and ocean views that many beachy couples dream of, they also have a few distinct offerings that you can weigh depending on your personalities and the style of wedding you’re planning. For easy reference, here’s a little comparison chart we whipped up:

Along with the obvious oceanfront space, Virginia Beach is also home to a handful of distinct venues. Even if a beach wedding isn’t for you, I love that you can create the opportunity for your beloved guests to enjoy a vacation weekend, while still hosting a wedding that fits your style to a tee. The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, Church Point Manor Bed and Breakfast, and First Landing State Park are a few of my favorites–they’re all so different!

Have you ever been to Virginia Beach? What was your favorite thing about it? We’d love to hear!

This post is brought to you by Virginia Beach–thanks for your support of the brands that make Southern Weddings possible!

Is there anything more beautiful than a radiantly joyful bride? Meghan is absolutely beaming in every frame of this video by Villatoro Productions, and the way her groom, Tim, looks at her is just the sweetest thing. I know y’all are going to love their beautiful Virginia venue, the monogrammed flower girl sashes, and of course, the touching toast from the father of the bride!

From the bride:

It is hard to put down in words how amazing and special our day was. For this one day, we had so many of our loved ones together in one room to celebrate our relationship and commitment. For a year and a half, with the help of our parents, especially my mother, we brainstormed, planned, and scoured through magazines and Pinterest for ideas to shape our vineyard wedding into the perfect day for us. My favorite detail was our menus. My mother had a family friend paint pictures of different scenes from our venue and then had prints made of the different images that were then used as the background for our wedding dinner menu. My favorite memories, besides seeing my husband at the end of the aisle, were my father’s toast during the reception and the reading by my father-in-law during the ceremony. My husband and I wholeheartedly agree that our day was perfect for us. It was the first day of what we hope and believe will be a long a fulfilling marriage!

Happy Monday, ladies! Remember when we sent out a call for V4 reader models in Charleston? We had such a FABULOUS time with Caroline, Lionel, Susannah, Gardner, Farren, Kevin, Chelsea, and Bryce that we’re doing it again! We’ve got our bride taken care of this time around, but now we’re looking for a few lovely bridesmaids.

So! Want to get dressed up in pretty frocks, have your hair and makeup done by the experts and strike a pose or two, like our stunning reader ‘maids from V3?

We’re taking the show on the road to Williamsburg, VA, where I’ll be teaming up with a few fabulous vendors to produce a spread for V4. If you’re free for a Tuesday, June 28 photo shoot in Williamsburg and are at least 5’7*, we’d love for you to email a head shot and a few candids to howdy at iloveswmag.com. We can’t wait to hear from you!

*We hate to put a height requirement in, knowing there are lovely ladies of all shapes, but the particular fashion items we’re using will only work with taller ladies. Next time, shorter gals!! :)
