Things you’d write home to your Momma about: I started off just like everyone else, inexperienced. I remember the day I was asked to shoot my very first wedding. I was so excited and so nervous. I was totally unqualified. Yet, these sweet people saw something in me that would one day help me realize my value. Flash forward seven years and I am now an award-winning, published, professional wedding photographer. People just kept booking me and I kept falling more in love with it with every wedding. I love my people well, invest in their lives and stories, help educate and minister, and in that way can still be missional in my career. I was once considered unqualified and unworthy, but God qualifies the unqualified; and I am so glad He does.
Location/Coverage: Based in the Eastern Shore/Gulf Coast of Alabama, Available Worldwide
How I got into weddings: I started photography in high school, and when I got into college some friends asked me if I would be willing to take their wedding photos. That was in 2010 and after that, more and more people started asking, and I found myself doing primarily weddings by 2013. I made it my full-time business focus in 2015!
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? I love having weather that allows outdoor weddings year-round (unless it’s a hurricane!), and I love that Southern weddings are always filled with the most beautiful heirlooms and deeply rooted in tradition.
Favorite part of a wedding day? I LOVE styling details, I cry at every first look and father daughter dance; and I, of course, love when it’s time to eat! (Bonus if there’s a potato or grits bar!)
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? My best advice is to print your photos and put them up in a place you look at often. On the days when you may not feel those butterflies in your stomach and you realize how difficult marriage can be, being able to look back on a moment in time when the two of you were completely and incandescently in love, it will help remind you of why you are in this and will make those difficult moments a little easier to get through.
Dream travel destination? Amalfi Coast or Sydney, Australia!
Favorite Southern city? Charleston, SC, Fairhope, AL, and Saint Augustine, FL (in that order).
Early bird or night owl? Honestly, a mix of both. I have two babies so early mornings have become a way of life…even if I do stay up until 2 am working!
Favorite pie flavor? Apple
Favorite biscuit topping? Thick Sausage Gravy!
