Happy Monday! Grab a tall glass of sweet tea, y’all, and sit a spell with us. September flew right on by, but we did manage to catch some of it on our iPhones! Take a look at what the Southern Weddings gals have been up to in and out of the office.

1. Emily and John got their marriage license! (And got married shortly after, of course.)

2. Marissa ate the most delicious biscuit from The Flying Biscuit! Yep, that’s the name — do any of y’all have one of these near you? They’re the best!

3. When Marissa saw this bumper sticker, she knew it was right up Lara’s alley. Lara loves boiled peanuts almost as much as chickens!

4. I traveled to Asheville with my sister to take a look at venues for her wedding next year!

5. The clubby at the ballpark gave Marissa these. “He’s an enabler, but I like it!”

6. Lara went on vacation to our Honeylist destination, Watercolor, with four generations of Southern women!

7. In Marissa’s family, baby name planning is big business. She and her mother-in-law took some time to check out all the names on the family tree. “No baby yet, but we have to plan ahead!”

8. Emily’s sweet handwritten vows!

9. Emily admired her new view once she arrived back at work. We quite like it, too.

10. Emily and John cheered at a high school football game… even though they know no one in high school. “I blame Friday Night Lights!”

11. Lara did a lot of V5 layout at her desk.

12. Grace played peekaboo with me while was trying to work on layout : )

13. Grace spotted a puppy!

14. Emily and I were delivered cold Cheerwine to refuel for a night of layout!

15. The view from my desk now includes candy and Pantone swatches.

How was your September? What were the highlights of your month?

See what happened in past months:

Hi belles + beaus! We have some exciting news! As you know, we’re hard at work behind the scenes crafting so much Southern goodness for V5, and we’ve already had the pleasure of selecting several very special real weddings for our annual print edition. Our real wedding deadline was July 15, but because we’re picky, we haven’t quite filled out our roster yet! We’re still looking for a few AMAZING Southern weddings, so if you think you’ve got something good, please send it my way!

Y’all know we love what you love – great photography, inspiring love stories and lovely details. To be considered for a Real Weddings feature in print, the wedding must have taken place in the southeastern United States. Photographers, please email 20-25 good web-quality .jpg attachments to me (emily at iloveswmag.com), along with the following information: couple’s name, wedding date, wedding location, and any vendor information you have (names and websites). We only accept digital submissions. Brides, please ask your photographer to do the above. Please note we do have a strict exclusivity policy and cannot share work that has been featured on another blog or in another publication, and we would prefer that print submissions not be seen anywhere online, even the photographer’s blog or Facebook. Please title your email V5 REAL WEDDING.

Please also note that at this point we’re looking to fill some very specific “holes” (i.e. colors, aesthetics, or geographic areas that we haven’t represented in the mix yet), so if we ask to, for example, feature your wedding online instead of in print, please don’t be upset!

Lastly: My very best tip for getting your wedding selected for print (besides having superb photography), is to have a wedding with personality. This certainly doesn’t mean it has to be “out there,” it just means it has to have a very cohesive, distinctive look. Curious about what I mean? Just browse through V4 (or check out this wedding, this wedding, this wedding, or this wedding – all print features we later featured online).

We’re excited to look through more submissions and pull out the very best for V5!
