I know, I know… last week, I said the Paper, Cotton, and Flour shoot was my favorite from V4. And now, here I am this week, introducing you to another of my favorite features! Can you blame me, though? Courtney Spencer of Merriment Events and I emailed incessantly for months to pull all of these beautiful details together, and the wonderful Katie Stoops surpassed our expectations for capturing them to share with y’all. I am so, so pleased with how everything we built in Williamsburg turned out, and I hope you all love this shoot, too!

The Lettered Olive designed these breathtaking invitations for us using calligraphy by Elizabeth Porcher Jones. Wouldn’t handwritten, personally-addressed invite letters be an amazing idea for an intimate celebration? Even if you were having a larger wedding, you could still do something similar, but write “Dear family and friends” instead of individual names.

Our bride’s gorgeous gown is the “Arabella” from Christos. It is stunning in person!

Out of all the gorgeous and historic locations in Colonial Williamsburg, we settled on the spa as the spot for our ceremony.

Courtney was not only the amazing stylist for this shoot, but the florist, as well! She did a wonderful job transforming the wholesale flowers from Fifty Flowers into centerpieces and bouquets for our bride and bridesmaids.

Our classic tablescape was set on a Colonial Williamsburg porch. I particularly love the nods to Virginia culture, like the boxwoods and peanuts!

A few more details? Oh, okay!

For dessert? Monogrammed tarts and a classic white wedding cake.

Finally, the butter on the biscuit: the Beau Bar! Trade your tie for a bow tie, y’all!

Be sure to pick up a copy of V4 to see all the details!

Southern Weddings Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

Hello dear friends!! All of the SW girls are patiently (but anxiously!) waiting the arrival of Lara’s baby Grace. We’ve tidied up our desks, ate all the rest of the Halloween candy, and gave out lots of hugs in case she comes! So many exciting things are ahead, in our lives and on the blog. We can’t wait to share all of them with you. (You can get a sneak peek in our video update from Wednesday’s staff meeting here.) We’re still riding the V4 high and we have to thank all of you again for your incredibly kind words! We’re sending lots of love your way! Now, let’s take a look back.

Taking a cue from Emily’s Southern Gothic inspiration board, I pulled together some of my favorite and slightly eerie Color Palette Finds for you!

Then, we jumped right into V4 buttery amazingness! This feature from our latest issue shows off our favorite Southern carbohydrate and a few yummy new ideas to make them shine.

Tuesday was ALL about one of Emily’s favorite features, our Paper, Cotton and Flour shoot! We couldn’t wait to share this behind-the-scenes video from Inkspot Crow with y’all.

Then, we jumped right into all the flour-y and fun photos from Joey + Jessica.

And we ended the day with an awesome giveaway! The bouquet featured in the shoot was made from paper, y’all! Go to the original post for the chance to win your own!

Yesterday, we took you behind the scenes of our South Carolina polo shoot and shared fun video from Leigh Webber. Yes, that’s our bride climbing over a fence in a huge white gown!

Then, we shared Bryan Johnson’s gorgeous images from the feature!

Emily’s heading to Engage!11 in the Cayman Islands! If you’re not familiar with the luxury wedding summit, then take a look at Emily’s post here and be on the lookout for live tweets from the event next week!

This week’s featured Real Wedding Gallery is Yeri + Adam! We’re still gaga for their punchy-fun color palette and paper products!

We heart Real Weddings!

Melissa + Matthew’s colorful and intimate wedding was a Southern dream. A homemade pie receiving line? Sign me up. See it all here and here.

Fun things coming up!

Bella Figura is giving away 25 free letterpress invitation sets as a part of their Election Day sale! Votes can take advantage of the offer when they order 75 or more. Take a look at their details on their blog. The sale runs through this month.

Jennica Jo Photography is doing a wedding photography giveaway! You can get 8 hours of coverage, a private ordering gallery, and $150 in print credits. Take a look at her blog for details and to find out how to enter!

Are you a military couple? Simply Designed, along with several other sponsors, is holding a contest for engaged military couples. They’re giving away up to $2,000 worth of custom designed invitations! Take a look at their blog for more information.

November Lily, a luxury boutique bridal styling-house and design atelier, is launching today! If you’re in the Dallas area, join them for cocktails and couture at the L’Acqua Spa Lounge from 6 to 8!

Engage!11 :: Cayman Islands

by in In The Office, Main on

Happy Friday to me!! Why, you ask? Well, in just a few days, I’ll be heading off to the Cayman Islands to spend a few days in paradise at Engage!11! For those of you unfamiliar with the Engage events, they are twice yearly luxury wedding business summits where some of the most exciting people in the industry come together to learn and grow. I believe this will be only the second conference Lara has missed, and while I will miss having her by my side, I’m excited to represent the South in her stead! (She does have a pretty good reason for not attending, don’t you think?) You can read a little more about my first trip to an Engage! conference here, here, and here.

Now, would it be bad to say I’m almost as excited about our surroundings as the people I’ll meet? Feast your eyes on this:

Gorgeous!! Okay, okay, I’m also excited about the speakers. A brief rundown: Barbara Corcoran (Shark Tank lady!! John and I love that show!), Bryan Rafanelli (loved him at Engage!10!), Darcy Miller of Martha Stewart Weddings, the one and only Randy Fenoli, event designer Michelle Rago, and inspirational and oh-so-kind David Beahm. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! I’m also incredibly excited to meet my roommates Emily Ley and Whitney English Kolb!

Y’all KNOW I’ll be back after the festivities wrap up to tell you all about it, and I’ll of course be tweeting along the way. In the meantime, I’d love to know who I should keep an eye out for while on the beach — if you’re attending Engage, leave a comment below! I’d love to say howdy! :)

Oh my gosh!! Yall are going to never want to come back! :) I have stayed at that resort in Cayman years ago and when I saw the photo of the beach-side cabanas my mind was racing back in time longing for some sun kissed shoulders and tropical inspired cocktails! Have a BLAST and can’t wait to read up on your Engage notes when you return! I am dreaming of going next year!

    xo,
