We wanted to take a moment from our oven-preheating, Macy’s-parade-watching, family-hugging mornings to let y’all know one more time how thankful we are for all of you, and how grateful we are that you let us be a small part of your journeys to the altar. We also thought you might like to know what we’re each up to today, and to tell you a few other things we’re thankful for…

Sierra: Today I’m at home, about an hour down the road from the office. My grandparents are visiting from Georgia, and I get to spend time with my wonderful parents and younger brother, as well. First, I’ll be attending my boyfriend’s family Thanksgiving meal just a few streets over, then Mom is cooking a delicious Thanksgiving meal for my family. What can beat eating twice? Over the break, I’m really just relaxing and enjoying the extra company. I’m thankful for family, friends, my job (in particular, the fabulous Southern Wedding gals) and everything else I’ve been blessed with in my life. I don’t know about you, but I’m dying for some turkey and dressing! P.S. My birthday is on Saturday!!

Nicole: This year, my family and I will be traveling up to Williamsburg to spend Thanksgiving with my aunt and her family. This will be my first year celebrating Turkey Day as a vegetarian! It will also be the day of my first 5K, which I’ll (attempt to) run with my sister and her boyfriend. The 5K takes us through Colonial Williamsburg and the College of William and Mary, so it’s sure to be scenic. I’m thankful for the ability to recover with pecan pie, my amazing family and friends who always put a smile on my face, the wonderful and inspiring ladies I work with (Lara, Emily, Marissa, Whitney, Sierra and Emily Ley, y’all are brilliant!), Southern heaven, and the wonderful opportunities that stumble my way. I had no idea how lucky I’d be and I’m grateful for each step of my journey so far!

Marissa: I’ll be spending this Thanksgiving with my handsome husband and my family in Florida. I’m so excited for all my mom’s delicious homemade cooking, watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and A Christmas Story all day long in my pajamas! I am thankful for God’s amazing plan, for my incredible husband, my loving mom and sister, for really great in-laws, for a life that is never boring, for Emily Ley + her Bman’s chubby smile, for Lara + sweet baby Grace’s safe arrival, for not only working with, but being able to call Emily, Sierra, Whitney + Nicole my friends, and for HeyTell with Gina, Natalie + Melissa. Oh my gosh, y’all! I could go on and on. I am thankful for SO much this year. I wish each of you, dear readers, happiness, health and love this Thanksgiving!

Whitney: Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Who doesn’t like a day devoted entirely to food and family? I am thankful to have my crazy family right down the road in Raleigh, and I am happy that I get to spend Thanksgiving day surrounded by the people I love. I’m thankful for the talented women here at Southern Weddings. Lara, Emily, Sierra, Nicole and Marissa blow me away every day with their brilliance, their diligence and their passion, and I thank my lucky stars that they are in my life. Finally, I am thankful for my boyfriend, Scott, because he always knows how to make me smile. Happy Thanksgiving, y’all! Enjoy that turkey and pie!

Emily: John only has today off from work, so my Mom, Dad, and younger sister traveled to North Carolina to accommodate us. I am most looking forward to eating stuffing, and apple pie with cheddar cheese! I am thankful for so, so many things, including but not limited to: my family, this season of wedding planning I’m in, the incredible freedoms and opportunity we enjoy in this country, Kraft macaroni and cheese, the fact that I’m living my dream, and my cats, who are the cutest cats in the world (two of them, anyway). I am so very blessed.

Lara: Since Lara just had a baby on Tuesday (yay!!!), we’re betting she is feeling particularly thankful for her new baby girl and her whole family right now. I have no doubt she would also say how thankful she is for each of you, so I will say it in her stead :)

Thank you again, dear readers! If you are so moved, tell us what you’re thankful for in the comments!

I have been vegetarian for 25 years – I’d love to hear more from Nicole about her experience!

I am thankful for so many things this year. My sister and her husband survived the massive tornado that swept through Tuscaloosa on April 27 even though they lost their home and many things. I got engaged to my wonderful fiance! I’ve had the PLEASURE and JOY of planning our wedding in April. I found my first big girl job and I’m living in a big ol’ city with my fiance and taking care of myself and paying my own bills! I graduated from college with TWO degrees. AND I have the most wonderful family and friends a girl could ever want. God is so Good!

I am thankful for my family and getting to spend this day with them. I am thankful for everyone back in Virginia taking care of my fiance this holiday while we have to be apart. And like Emily, I am thankful for this season of wedding planning and that next Thanksgiving I’ll be celebrating as a wife!

Happy Thanksgiving!

by in In The Office, Main on

We hope y’all are with your families and enjoying turkey today! (Or tofurkey, if that’s more your style!) We wanted to take a moment to each list a few of the things we’re thankful for on this most wonderful holiday.

From Emily, whose favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is stuffing:
I am thankful for my family. I really think I lucked out with the most loving, most brilliant, and most fun family that a girl could ever ask for. I’m thankful for a warm home, a snuggly bed, and best friends, even if they’re flung far and wide. I’m thankful for God and the innumerable blessings He has entrusted to me. And today, I will probably be thankful for the Butterball hotline, seeing as I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner.

From Katharine, whose favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is Stouffer’s Macaroni and Cheese (which is what she’s contributing to her family’s spread):
After five years, I am thankful to be spending my first Thanksgiving with Kyle. My father will be hosting the celebration this year, and I couldn’t think of a better place to share our first official holiday as husband and wife than at my family’s home in Virginia. (Macaroni + Cheese will be included.) I’m grateful for the year of changes we have enjoyed, for my father and three younger siblings and for my new family in Cincinnati. (Our first home in North Carolina, my best friend Molly and the Duke trail are just a few of the blessings that make make life so sweet.) Speaking of sweet, I’m especially grateful for candy – of all shapes and sizes.

From Lara, whose favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is: my mom’s turnip puree.  OK, maybe it doesn’t sound exciting at first glance, but it’s like mashed potatoes with a hint of spicy heat and nutmeg.  Pretty much Southern heaven on earth. I am so grateful for Jesus, my family, and the way God has worked in my life this year.  I’m so grateful for Katharine, Emily, Marissa, Whitney, Nicole and Sierra and how they make me want to be my best every day.  They put up with my crazy ideas and my insatiable drive that keeps us busy.  I love you all so much.  I am so grateful for Gina and Emily L. and for the adventure of a lifetime we just went on.  I’ve never had close girlfriends and I have found two soulmates.  I’m so grateful for the people who opened their hearts to us on that journey.  All 100+ new friends – I’m thanking God for each one of you at my Thanksgiving table today.  So much love and thanks for all that you are.  As they say, my cup overfloweth.  I could write volumes.  I’m thankful for YOU, dear readers.  Thank you for supporting us.  I’m grateful for my eternal roomie Harmony, who is like a sister to me, and for my half-sister Kathy.  I’m thankful that these two women – my favorite women in LA – just happened to meet by chance the other night.  God is good.  I’m grateful for all of these people who have made this year so powerful for me.  Last but not least, I’m thankful for my husband.  My grandma loves him too… maybe a little too much.  Filmed just ten days ago when Gina, Ari, Emily and I went to Irvine.  Wait for it… wait for it….

Y’all liked our Halloween inspiration board so much we figured we’d give you one for Thanksgiving, as well!

In the meantime, our office is scattering today to spend some quality time with our families and good food. The plans:

Emily: I’m actually staying in North Carolina for Thanksgiving this year! It’s going to be a strange Thursday in many ways, most importantly because there will be FAR fewer people around the table than is custom for my family: just 4. Usually, if we’re with my Mom’s side of the family, there are 13 of us, and if we’re with my Dad’s, upwards of 25. Also of note: I’m cooking Thanksgiving dinner. Stay tuned to see how THAT turns out :)

Katharine: Rest easy, folks: I certainly will not be cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year, so all are safe from that inevitable disaster! In a few short hours, Kyle and I will be making the drive up to Virginia to celebrate our first Thanksgiving as husband and wife. Little sister Bissy already has big plans for us: repeat showings of the new Harry Potter movie, Black Friday shopping, our annual closet swap (where she inevitably makes out like a bandit) and a sleepover. If it sounds like a sixteen-year-old’s dream vacation, you’re right. If only I could convince my family to serve a Thanksgiving steak instead of Tom Turkey, it would be my dream vacation!

Lara: Ari is on 24 hour call Thanksgiving day and Saturday, so he’s literally in the hospital all week. I’m sad that I won’t be with him on Thanksgiving, but there are a lot of people who will be very thankful to be in his care that day. I’m headed to Pensacola, Florida, to spend the holiday with my parents. It’s just the three of us this year… and some cats… and a chicken… and a duck. Life on the Casey farm. My mom always cooks a big feast and this year I’m particularly excited to focus on getting to know more about each of their lives. You get to a certain age (30 for me, I suppose) where you just want to be better friends with your parents and know more about who they are and where they came from. I’m excited for us all to grow closer and to give thanks for our many blessings. It’s also traditionally a big weekend for everyone from my high school to get together, so I’m excited to see some old friends, too! Bring on the turkey y’all!

What are your Thanksgiving plans?
