Y’all, today is a Very Big Day in the Southern Weddings office. (Yep, an in caps kind of day.) And that is because today is the day we are introducing you to our newest editor, Lisa Olson!

Lisa is a recent graduate of the University of Texas at Austin who happily rounds out our Southern state representation (in addition to TX we’ve now got Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and Alabama covered… aaaaaand me.) You may have seen sneak peeks of our newest gal and her gorgeous long hair on Twitter and Instagram (here, here, and here) — we sure had fun with them! But now it’s time for a proper introduction.

Miss Lisa grew up all around the world, but is originally from Virginia and most recently lived in Texas before moving to North Carolina to join us. Flowers are her favorite, and she and I have already shown a penchant for dressing alike. That’s probably only going to get worse, because we’ll be working closely together to develop blog and print features for all of y’all. She’s loved weddings for a long, long time, and even started her own blog to chat about all things pretty in 2010, which is where we first spotted her sweet voice, darling style, and discerning eye.

Lisa will also take over as manager of our growing Shop, so keep an eye out for an email from her if you order a pretty package! We are so excited about how the Shop will grow with Lisa’s new role… lots of goodness to look forward to in the next few months!

We’ve had fun playing around with Instagram video over the last few weeks, and apparently we’re getting bold, because yesterday we decided to try a two minute clip. Here’s Lisa sharing the story of finding out she had a job at SW:

Too cute, no? I giggle every time I watch it. And apologies if I made anyone seasick with my chair swaying — I’m going to try to be better about that :) Our new office chairs are just too fun!

To finish, a few words from Lisa herself:

Hi y’all! I am so overjoyed and grateful to be the newest member of the Southern Weddings team. Like many of you, I have been an avid SW reader for years, and it is so surreal to now be on the other side of things. I truly believe that there is nothing more beautiful than a sentimental, family-focused, overflowing-with-love Southern wedding, and I am so honored to share in this magical time with all of our sweet brides and readers. If there’s ever anything I can help you with in your wedding planning, or if you just want to sit a spell and chat, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Y’all are already so special to me and I can’t wait to get to know you!

Friends, you can read much more about Lisa on her bio page here, and follow her on Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. In the meantime, please join me in giving her a VERY warm Southern Weddings “howdy” in the comments!!

[…] I can hardly find the words to express how humbled and grateful I am to be the newest editor for Southern Weddings. I am so thankful to Lara, Emily, Nicole, Marissa, and Kristin for taking a chance on me and welcoming me to Chapel Hill and to their office with open arms. These women are incredible, and I cannot wait to get to know all of their hearts so much more. V6 prep is already well underway and I’m so ready to dive right in, meet all of the wonderful brides and readers, and help make one heck of a beautiful, meaningful magazine happen. I am being officially introduced on the Southern Weddings blog today, so if you’re interested in hearing a little bit more about how I got my job (along with a video about what happened when I got my job offer email!), you can find it all here. I have only had the pleasure of meeting lisa, so I don’t know her, BUT I do know her mom….I have heard the funny ‘crying-during-the-credits’ story. :) best wishes to all of you — the mag is gorgeous! I was in Portland this past week and was sharing about your mag to a young floral designer. now I can send him the link.

    Lisa and SWMag team,
Just precious! I am the praying mom of a recent college grad (my 4th) and it is so dear to see the desires of one’s heart be heard and fulfilled. Lisa, your gift mix (read your blog) will be a blessing to so many and will be expanded beautifully. I love seeing young adults thrive for their sake but it also encourages me to continue onward. Again, so thrilled for the new chapter in your life journey that pursues the most important things first.
    Have an amazing first day!
