If you’ve been following along on Instagram (and #MakingSouthernWeddings!), you already know that this week and next week are huge for us–we’re finishing Southern Weddings V8, once and for all. Earlier this week, we took a little break from edits and layout to do a live stream video update, sharing a detailed look into our newest Southern Weddings Shop product, the Wedding Day Journal, and an update on V8. It’s a little bit silly and super casual, but we shared lots of fun things, so if you missed it, take a peek below!

P.S. Skip to 1:30 if you don’t want to watch us figuring out our technical difficulties :)

Yay! Thanks for sharing the video on here. I was bummed to have missed it on Tuesday. And I can’t wait to see V8! Praying for you that everything goes smoothly and as y’all want it to be :)

I love this live stream! You guys totally sold me on the journal! I can’t wait to buy this as a little pressie for all my girls who just got engaged (and maybe for myself too). Good luck with V8, can’t wait!

By now, I’m sure y’all have seen on Instagram that we’ve been knee-deep in renovations at the Southern Weddings office for the last month! While we’re overjoyed that there are only a few more projects left to be completed before we can get settled in and start decorating, we have certainly enjoyed getting to know the gents who have been working so hard to bring our office dreams to life. Our spring interns, Kane and Megan, interviewed our contractor, Michael, and carpenter, Travis, last week so that y’all can get to know them, too!

Name: Michael
Are you from the South? Yes, I’m from Virginia.
What do you love about the South? Hot summer days and going to the lake.
What is your favorite part of a wedding? The reception.
Ultimate song to dance to at a wedding: I’m a big fan of the chicken dance.
Wife’s name: Amanda
How long have you been married? A year and a half.
Most memorable moment from your wedding: Exchanging our vows.
Best piece of marriage advice: Listen more than you talk.
Best thing about working on the Southern Wedding renovation: All of the wonderful Southern Weddings staff!

Name: Travis
Are you from the South? I’m originally from Richmond, Virginia
What do you love about the South? Southern hospitality! Being kind, no matter what.
What is your favorite part of a wedding? An open bar and the gathering of family and friends.
Ultimate song to dance to at a wedding: Why don’t we go with the chicken dance, because you don’t want to get too serious with that song. You’re at a wedding and you’re having fun!
Best piece of marriage advice: Communicate and compromise.
Best thing about working on the Southern Wedding renovation: I have a great client!

We can’t wait to share all of their hard work soon! Take a look at the progress on #TheOfficeReno!

As many of you know, the Southern Weddings gals have always believed that small is the new big. And we take “small” pretty seriously – not just in our staff size, but in our office space! We work out of the second floor of Lara’s home (yes!), which means one big room currently houses desks for five full-time employees plus two interns, all of our shop products (well, except for the magazines – those go in the garage, because you better believe we are not hauling all of those boxes upstairs!), our shipping station, shoot props, and much more! We shared a tour a year and a half ago, and things still look pretty much the same:

Big hugs to Blue Ribbon Vendor Faith Teasley for these photos! You can also see a more pulled-back look in the SW Planner video!

As much as we love our space (the blue makes it feels like we’re up in the clouds!), the truth is we’ve been bursting at the seams for a little while now. Morgan came on board with us full time this spring; we’ve been steadily adding products to both the Southern Weddings Shop and the Lara Casey Shop; Lara has been needing some more quiet, private space with the launch of her book (and working on her second book!); and now, with the 2015 arrival of two babies on the first floor of our office/Lara’s house, we’re losing some of our overflow storage space.

However, we love our situation and weren’t ready to move out. So we’re moving over! That’s right, starting this week, we’re knocking down walls and expanding our office into the attic, almost doubling our work space. (To be clear, WE are not actually knocking down any walls – that will be left to the professionals!) We’re all so excited! We’ll be sharing an updated tour once our new space is pretty as a speckled pup, but in the meantime, we invite you to follow along on Instagram, where we’ll be posting frequent updates! We’re using the hashtag #theofficereno. (I voted for #henriettasnewdigs, but was outvoted – can you believe it??)

They’re not as pretty, but here are a few “before” shots of the new space. This will be the new “editorial wing,” accessed through the current office:

And this will be our new “guest greeting area,” storage, and Lara’s office toward the back wall. We snapped this one today after the gents started working!

You know we like to keep it real, so to finish, here’s a shot of our temporary shipping station:

Yep, everything’s getting sent with some extra love this month! :) Thank you, as always, for your tremendous support, and stay tuned for more updates!!

Exciting stuff! Any way you can share the paint colors of both the office and the temporary shipping station. Getting ready to do some painting of my own!

Mary Beth – sadly, Lara can’t remember, but she knows they were both Benjamin Moore colors. Sorry we can’t be of more help!!

So excited for you all!! I hope everything goes swiftly and beautifully :)
