I think it says a lot about couples when they plan their wedding in the South, despite the fact that they’re located much farther. Take Casey + Wojtek. They planned their wedding all the way from Canada! We love that they decided to keep their wedding small and intimate, choosing the rooftop of Reata Restaurant to celebrate. What a romantic view! When we asked Casey what advice she has for brides currently planning their weddings, she said, “Enjoy the details. It is really what makes all the difference.” We couldn’t agree more, which is why we’re gobbling up C + W’s thumbprint guest book, balloon getaway, and their cake stand which was made from a tree from Casey’s family farm. Big thanks to Landon Jacob for sharing this Texas wedding!

Tell us about finding your wedding dress: Marietta with Patsy’s Bridal in Dallas was the best guidance a girl could wish for. The first day I met with her, she asked me to describe the feeling of my wedding. I told her it was a romantic-country and traditional wedding and that I loved lace. She brought over 4 dresses that she felt were appropriate and I fell in love with a romantic, all lace, sweetheart dress and cathedral veil trimmed in matching lace. She covered every intricate detail from accessories to time needed to button the hundred buttons up the back.
Describe your wedding flowers: Bryna with Dr. Delphinium in Dallas helped me design simple and sweet floral arrangements including white and blush garden roses, miniature roses and dahlias, blush snow berries, white hydrangeas, dusty miller and brunia berries.
Did you decide to do a “first look”? Why or why not? No, I wanted to have the special first look moment coming down the aisle. It just seems really symbolic of the commitment you are making to one another. The first sight of each other is always emotional and special, I wanted that to be shared with family and friends, not take that moment away from everyone.

Our favorite detail of the wedding was: The Tony Hikam Trio out of Dallas was a highlight. They were wonderful and we could’ve listened to them croon all night! The little details, like our guest sign-in tree, the cake topper that was designed to look just like us, the guest names handwritten on pieces of wood and the cake stand made from a tree off my family’s farm were details that made it uniquely special.

What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? We combined our Southern menu with the Polish tradition of breaking bread. We kept it small and intimate, allowing us to go all out on great Southern comfort foods like jalapeno-cheddar grits, smoked quail, field greens with Texas goat cheese, pan-seared peppercorn tenderloin, calamari with cowboy cocktail sauce, personal oven-fresh pecan pies and more. The rooftop of Reata had great Southern design, with wrought iron chairs bearing the lone star design and cowboy murals. The breezy rooftop venue elevates your event four stories above the sights and sounds of Sundance Square.
Describe your wedding cake or dessert: It was a three-tiered classic hummingbird cake with organic buttercream.

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We met on eHarmony in 2008.
Describe the proposal. The first beautiful day of spring in Ottawa, Canada came April 9th 2011. The snow was gone and the sunshine was back! We had lunch on the patio downtown and on the way home I spotted an easel for sale in the window of the local art shop. I was so excited to get it home and paint! Wojtek eagerly put my easel together and we spent the evening painting together and just being silly. After the canvas was covered in all shades of blue, he asked me to leave the room. When he called me back in, I saw written across the canvas “I love you, Will you marry Me?” Wojtek was already on one knee with the ring in hand! Obviously, I said YES! That sunny day ended even brighter than it started!

[…] {I thought this balloon release send-off was so unique and whimsical! You could display the balloons in a bunch at the ceremony entrance as a decoration, and then invite everyone to take one with them on their way out. Gotta love when one thing serves two purposes!
