Caroline + Tyler’s pink and green reception details made for Georgia vineyard heaven! Fluffy pink flowers in assorted vases sat upon lace runners and decked the heavy wood tables. I love that the newlyweds decided to incorporate aspects of their location in the details, including wine bottles in between place settings and place cards in the form of flagged Georgia peaches! I’m sure guests were delighted with the personalization, even after receiving escort cards doubling as fabric-banded favors. Another vision of pink and green? Caroline + Tyler’s simple but beautiful round-tiered cake by Frosted Pumpkin , decorated with Swiss dots and peonies. After cutting in, eating and dancing, the two made their way through a line of sparklers and into their vintage getaway car. Extra bonus points for their classic streamer and tin can decorations. Thanks again to Heidi Geldhauser of Our Labor of Love for sharing this lovely wedding!

What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? Montaluce is very Tuscan and rustic but Erica, my wedding planner, and I were able to come up with nice Southern touches throughout the design of the wedding. We incorporated lots of peaches in the overall décor (including full wood bowls, table numbers, and head table seating assignments), milk glass, handmade lace, and some burlap. We also made a point to incorporate lots of handmade items such as the hand-painted wood signs Erica made. Candied pecans were also a part of our guest favors (and seating assignments!), which were tied in little kraft boxes with fabric printed to match our invitations. All of the paper goods and signage were absolutely Southern. The favorite Southern detail that was not planned was all of our college friends yelling the Ole Miss cheer, “Hotty Toddy” as we were being sent off from our reception to the Four Seasons.
Describe your wedding cake: Ours was a classic wedding cake with three tiers. Each tier was wrapped with a sage green ribbon on the bottom and was a different flavor (vanilla cake with raspberry-lemon Genoese filling, red velvet with cream cheese filling, and coconut) with a few big fluffy peonies on top! Tyler had a chocolate-mousse cake covered with chocolate-covered strawberries.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? A lot of brides-to-be have the privilege of being in the same city or state as their mothers, but my immediate family lives in Dallas, Texas where I am originally from, so the distance sometimes made the planning difficult. I am also a bit of a “Mama’s girl,” so there were a lot of emotions involved in this as well. I always thought I was going to be one of those brides that needed mom to plan the entire wedding, but Erica helped me out with so much. Fortunately, my mom and grandmother were able to fly in for the important things such as picking out my dress and seeing the venue, which I am more than grateful for.
What is the one thing you are most happy you splurged on? Wedding planning! Erica was my saving grace.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Wow, there were so many funny and emotional ones. The most sentimental was probably my little sister’s sweet maid of honor speech welcoming Tyler as her brother and to our family. We are super close and she had been trying to come up with a speech all day but would start getting teary and had to stop writing. When it came time for her to give her speech, she put her notes away and spoke genuinely from the heart. The funniest memory was Tyler dancing and jumping up and down like a wild man with a large circle of people cheering him on during our reception.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? We just moved into our first house so it will be a constant yet rewarding work in progress. Next summer, we are planning a trip to France, Spain, and Italy for our one-year anniversary. Having a family is extremely important to us, but we want to have plenty Caroline + Tyler time, which will involve lots of travel, seeing live music, visiting friends and family, and hanging out with our two dogs, which are our children for the time being.

The colors, the details, that ring shot! I really love the idea of using a lot of little vases as centerpieces–and including a bunch of fruit too. So great!

[…] Featured | Southern Weddings Magazine We knew months ago that we wanted to do a modern vintage editorial shoot for Southern Weddings Magazine and we knew exactly who we wanted to work with…but we were unsure of the exact theme/vision of the shoot. After spending time researching and viewing different resources for inspiration we realized that we wanted to create, style, and photograph a beach bridal session.  Now, we know the whole beach theme is overdone and very repetitive…so we wanted to create our personal take on a beach portrait session. After pitching the idea to our vendors, they were immediately inspired and helped out throughout the planning of this shoot. When the vision, shoot, & post-production was complete, we could not wait to send it over to SW! We only waited about a day before we received an email from Emily @ Southern Weddings, saying she would love to feature the editorial shoot…our work paid off and we were instantly blissful, giddy and humbled. Thank you again, Southern Weddings!! Words to describe the shoot: simple, elegant, feminine, vintage, romance, light Photography: Chelsi Layne & J. Ian w/ J. Style is far from lacking in Katie + Clark’s beach wedding. Just check out the groom wearing shades on the dance floor! From the tasseled umbrellas to the chalkboard signs, Katie and her planner, Stephanie of Savoir Faire, nailed the beach-meets-glam look with the help of Florals by the Sea. Linear Park at WaterSound Beach provided the perfect backdrop for this Southern affair. I’m crazy for the sheer white tents K + C chose. They flow effortlessly with the string lights and chandelier, and you must admit, they’re gorgeous against the cobalt blue sky in the last photo. Another detail that flows effortlessly? The aesthetic of Katie’s dress and her cake display! Confections on the Coast created four tiers of cake that matched the top of Katie’s dress, while the table was outfitted in linens that mimicked the bottom of her dress. Now that’s creativity. Thanks again to photographers Paul + Mecheal Johnson for sending this beauty our way!

Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I knew what dress I was going after the day I called my mom and said I was coming to Nashville. I went shopping for my senior prom dress in Nashville in 2002. I walked into B. Hughes Bridal not knowing it only sold bridal gowns. I looked around and didn’t see prom dresses but I saw a Vera Wang dress and I remember thinking to myself, “I will be back to buy a dress from Vera.” Fast forward 8 years and it was the first store I walked into. At first, I didn’t see it. I had the saddest look on my face until my maid of honor she spotted the dress hidden in a corner in the window display. I immediately had it taken off the mannequin and put on me! I knew the dress was the one. I LOVE my dress and will wear it to do the dishes, vacuum and to just feel pretty every now and then.
Describe your wedding flowers: I wanted my estate table to have a row of beautiful flowers. The table had orchids, hydrangea, roses, tulips, and stock. Our other tables had a low row of arrangements of hydrangea, stock and roses. I wanted bundles of the same flower but in multiple vases of different styles and heights. It was exactly what I had described to my florist. We also had vases of Manzanita branches with small pink garden roses glued to them and it was such a beautiful but different centerpiece to keep with our rustic beach theme. Finally, we had gorgeous arrangements of cherry blossoms around our wedding cake and at our wedding entrance table.
Describe your wedding cake: I wanted my cake to look like my dress. After looking at many wedding blogs, I found linens that looked like the bottom of my dress. My cake designer, Rhonda with Confections of the Coast, did an amazing job at making the cake look just like the top of my dress, so that when you looked at the table it looked like my dress!
What range did your wedding budget fall into? $50,000-$75,000
What is the one thing you are most happy you splurged on? I think our splurge would be all the flowers! Orchids aren’t cheap, but they were worth every penny!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? My daddy’s speech. It was the most amazing speech. My dad isn’t one to just talk your ear off and he talked for 15 minutes! His two stories about Clark and me were absolutely amazing and had everyone laughing hysterically and then crying.
