Layers upon layers of fluffy tulle, the most stunning ballroom, piles of perfect white peonies…our With this Ring editorial is the stuff wedding dreams are made of, if I do say so myself! We went straight to the classics when gathering inspiration for this shoot, asking ourselves time and time again what our readers’ “fairytale wedding” looks like. We know that many of you, like us, have a soft spot for the timeless details that will never go out of style, a heart for traditions, and the desire to experience the moments on your own special day that you identify with your parents’ and grandparents’ wedding photos. We had so much fun working with one of our favorite gals, Blue Ribbon Vendor Jacin Fitzgerald, to dream up beautifully updated versions of classic wedding details for this shoot, and we hope you love it as much as we do!

Thank you so much to Sawyer Baird for capturing these dreamy photos! See the whole feature in Southern Weddings V9, on newsstands now and in the Southern Weddings Shop.

I mean, y’all. STOP. That bouquet + that dress = too good.

We couldn’t have dreamed up a more fitting exit than the traditional rice toss! Love this photo Sawyer captured!

I wish y’all could have smelled Jacin’s arrangement for the sweetheart table – it was absolutely heavenly!

Sometimes, though, an update is in order, and I’m smitten with Jacin’s new look at an old-school tulle chair bow. The feminine, floaty detail perfectly mirrors our bride’s gown!

And y’all – do NOT miss the dreamy behind-the-scenes film from Blue Ribbon Vendor The Reason! They put together the most beautiful film that perfectly captures this classic day!

Happy Friday, belles! Since we just flipped the calendar page again (hello, May!) and Lisa and I have been hard at work with our team of stylists and vendors making Volume 9 magic happen, we thought it was time for a little #MakingSouthernWeddings update here on the blog! We have two editorial shoots under our belts (hooray!), two coming up this month, two in June, and one that is yet to be scheduled – but will likely end up being in June, too! We’ve actually already gotten the photos back from our first shoot, and let’s just say, there were some dancing lady and heart eye emoji texts involved amongst our team. We can’t wait for you to see!! But in the meantime, here’s what we can share…

Our first editorial was staged in sunny Florida. We had the help of two long-time Blue Ribbon Vendors, Ashton Events and Justin DeMutiis, and since I was out on maternity leave, Lisa also had Marissa by her side! (That’s her wearing one of our cute shoot aprons from Oatmeal Lace, above.) This shoot was bright and colorful, with just a hint of gold and citrus :)

Our second editorial took place at the Biltmore Ballrooms in Atlanta. Yeah, we couldn’t stop staring at that ceiling, either! We were thrilled to take on an indoors shoot – something a little different for us – and hope y’all will love having some ballroom inspiration in our next issue! Of course, peonies arranged by Blue Ribbon Vendor Jacin Fitzgerald, an epic tulle wedding gown, and photos by Sawyer Baird don’t hurt, either. I was back from maternity leave for this one, and it was extra fun to have my little girl and my Mom in tow for the day! But don’t get me started on Atlanta traffic… yeesh!

As always, follow along on Instagram and Snapchat for more Southern Weddings V9 action as it unfolds! You can find everything on our account, @SouthernWeddings, and the #SouthernWeddingsV9 and #MakingSouthernWeddings hashtags. And don’t forget: we will be reviewing real weddings for Volume 9 through August, so send them our way! We can’t WAIT to see your big days!! You can find our submission guidelines here.

P.S. Interested in being a Volume 9 sponsor? There’s still time, and we would love to have you! In fact, we’re running a special deal until May 9, so hop like a bunny and email Marissa!

Southern Weddings Weekly Round-Up

by in Main on

Happy weekend, friends! Can you believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner? Between the release of V8, our launch party, and preparations for a handful of holiday events (RSVP for our Gingerbread Barn Building competition here and stay tuned for details about a holiday shopping party we’re hosting at Kendra Scott in Durham!), November has felt like a whirlwind, but in the best, most celebratory way. I don’t see anything slowing down in the coming weeks, which is why we’re still doing our best to appreciate the simple joys of this time of year–our #CozyFallYall hashtag on Instagram is packed with real inspiration from our darling readers, and we’ll be switching to a fun new holiday hashtag right after Thanksgiving!

See more from this engagement session by Nyk + Cali on our Facebook page!

In case you missed it this week…

Wedding planning comes with enough decisions as it is, so it’s easy to feel like the last thing you want to do while engaged is make even more decisions about your honeymoon! Well, here’s the good news: when you honeymoon at Sandals Resorts or Beaches Resorts, there’s no need to choose–you can experience any of their eighteen resorts and eight islands through their Honeymoon Hop program. Only a hop, skip, and a jump away from one another, each resort offers a distinct setting and feel with the same exceptional, all-inclusive amenities. Whether you choose to take advantage of this opportunity by exploring one island in depth, or you jet across the Caribbean to see as many different places as possible, Sandals and Beaches have experts dedicated to creating your dream Honeymoon Hop itinerary, including handling transportation arrangements. The only thing you’ll need to worry about is how many bathing suits to pack! For complete offer details, click here and call 1-877-SANDALS or 1-877-BEACHES to begin planning your first newlywed adventure.

Have a lovely weekend, and congratulations to anyone getting married!!
