Top o’ the mornin’ to y’all! It may not be St. Patrick’s Day yet, but we’re fixin’ to get in the spirit! Why, you ask? We’re hosting another Southern Weddings yard sale and we couldn’t think of a better day to schedule it than March 17!

Now is it just the thrifter in me, or are yard sales the best? I love finding pieces here and there that aren’t needed by their owners anymore but that I think are the bees’ knees. Plus, if I find something really cool and one-of-a-kind, I like to make up a story about it’s past. You know that lamp I have? Yessir, it was made from the stones of an ancient royal palace and then traded along the high seas until the ship wrecked and the lamp washed ashore Carolina beach. Totally believable.

The first SW yard sale last year was a blast for us and for our readers and we couldn’t wait to put together another one! We can’t guarantee our goods come with stories quite as epic as the one above, but they are beautiful and need a home in someone’s future wedding!

This time, we want to get y’all even more involved. Of course, you’re invited to shop among our wares. But if you’re an event planner or even a former bride who wants to sell some gently used wedding items, too, we want you to participate in the yard sale with us! Shoot me an email to let me know that you’re interested and tell me what you want to sell.

Who else is more excited than a hen on a hot griddle?
P.S. I reckon the SW ladies will be donning their green best. We encourage you to do the same!

Happy Monday, my friends! I hope you all had wonderful weekends full of good fun and even better company. With the turkey and dressing behind us, though, it’s time to move on to the next fabulous season: Christmas! And what better way to kick off December’s festivities than with the Southern Weddings Gingerbread Barn Building event?

A brief recap, since we’re building this week (!): All are invited, and the winner gets a special holiday prize: a $100 gift certificate from our sponsor, Minted! Perfect for holiday cards and save-the-dates, no?

We’re partnering up with our awesome event sponsors, The Carolina Inn, Sugarland Bakery and Hammond’s Candies, to spread the holiday joy (and some friendly competitive spirit). We’ll be building at The Carolina Inn’s Hill Ballroom on this Wednesday at 6:30. Stations will be full of gingerbread, Sugarland’s yummy icing, tons of peppermint from Hammond’s Candies and lots of other sweets! The fabulous Nancy Ray will be on hand to photograph all the festivities, too!

To keep the sugar highs at bay, light snacks and refreshments, courtesy of The Carolina Inn, will be provided. Get your creative caps on and start thinking up your plans, because the Southern Weddings girls will be building, too, and we’re going to be raring to go!

If you’re planning to attend, make sure to RSVP by sending an email to nicole {at} iloveswmag.com with the subject line: Attending with Bells On! See you soon!

Come celebrate the holiday season with the Southern Weddings gals! We’re putting on our aprons and busting out the frosting for a good ole fashioned gingerbread building competition. The twist? This ain’t your regular gingerbread house — we’re building gingerbread barns, y’all! Bring your best friends, your partner in crime, or your sweetie to compete to build the best gingerbread barn below the Mason-Dixon Line! The winner even gets a special holiday prize: a $100 gift certificate from our sponsor, Minted! Perfect for holiday cards and save-the-dates, no?

As you can tell from the photo above, I’ve been practicing. Don’t be fooled by its modest appearance, guys: I’ve got foundation setting, frosting piping and M&M eating down to a science.
