Southern Weddings

Category: In The Office

Hi y’all!  Emily and I had a killer weekend in ATL.  Loved our hotel, our “assistant” Eliana, the wedding, the groom’s cake, the rockin band, and a wedding first… breaking up a fight during the ceremony.  Much more to come, but this wedding reminded me what weddings are supposed to be all about- genuine love, laughter, family, and having the time of your life! Congrats P & J!

Well, we’re back and ready for a BIG WEEK here at Southern Weddings.  We’re buckling down for the final days before our print edition goes to the printer.  I’m wearing my serious glasses, the music is pumping and we are on fire here today!  You have till this Friday to get in on the action.  We have a limited number of ad slots available, so jump on it, people!  Email Katharine for last-minute ad rates.  You can follow me on Twitter this week for submission requests too.

Brides, you are going to LOVE this issue.  I really couldn’t be more excited about the surprises in store!

PS- we finally bit the bullet and created a Southern Weddings twitter account to give you one account to follow for the latest from the blog and SW news.  As always though, you can still follow Emily, Katharine, Whitney and I for an inside look at SW life.

Here’s to an exciting week y’all!

Excellent :) Great job – Weddings are all about family and friends and when things can come together to be a fun time this is one of the best memories. (too bad about the fight though… :( tha’s a bummer. Following the new SW twitter ;)

The couple thought the fight was hilarious, thankfully. The ceremony was at Park Tavern (gorgeous but near the street). It was a loud domestic dispute, ironically. I ran up the hill to break it up and the guy yelled down to the couple and wedding guests "thanks for sending up your wedding bouncer!" with a few expletives mixed in. There were lots of high-fives and laughs after wards : ) Great couple! – Lara

Looking forward to your "real wedding" stories in this upcoming issue. They were so beautifully written last time. You guys are awesome!

Where is the videographer when you need him? LOL That’s what I love about weddings. Expect the unexpected. They are never boring.

Seriously, we could have used a videographer! Would have been amazing to replay. Thanks so much Nadine! xo Lara

Happy October, y’all!  Just as this month is a time to celebrate our favorite things about fall (crunchy leaves, crackling fires, corduroy, fuzzy wool scarves), it’s also a time to remember loved ones who are fighting and have lost the battle with breast cancer.  In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the SW ladies wanted to provide a little pink inspiration.  This board has a very ladylike vibe and would work well for a brunch or a shower — perfect opportunities to celebrate the strong women in your life!

Look for more information and for ways you can help at the NBCAM website and the site of the American Cancer Society.  Also be sure to spend some time getting to know The Pink Initiative, an incredible organization created by wedding professionals. You can read more about what they do on ThinkSplendid.com as well. Kudos to the Pink Initiative team on all they do!

Inspiration board from Emily’s personal blog, Peach and Pearl. (I love her blog so much!)

Happy October,

PS- we have a crazy fun giveaway coming up this month…  all I’ll say for now is get those pumpkins ready!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Those candles!! how romantic it is. Those bouquets are very beautiful as well. I think one of my most favorite wedding decors has got to be victorian. Every time I see anything with the slightest bit of victorian romance influences it makes me swoon ;) LOL

I love this color scheme — there’s something so special about pink and light gray — it seems very ethereal, french inspired…really beautiful.

Sponsor Love

by in In The Office on

Today we’re taking a time out to say a huge thank you to some of our favorite Southern Weddings sponsors!  We couldn’t do what we do without them, and even more than that, we really believe in their work and want to share it with you.  We hope you’ll take a moment to visit their sites and send them a little SW love

First up is the fabulous Nancy Aidee, a fine art photographer based in Houston (she’ll also travel for your destination wedding!).  We love how Nancy describes her job as allowing her to “observe and be a great spectator of unique moments.”  Visit her blog here and website here. (You can even follow her on Twitter here!)

Next we have Nine Photography, based out of Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, and “everywhere that love goes.”  Sounds good to us!  Their blog, talk sweet, is a fun read and really shows how well they get to know their couples.  Visit it here and their website here!

We’ve been lucky enough to work with husband and wife duo Whit + Jesse of Our Labor of Love on several projects in the past, and can attest first hand to their talent and warmth.  Their personalities are as distinctive as their images, and they love working with couples who just want to be themselves.  (Can’t you always tell when it’s an OLOL wedding?  We sure can!)   Website here, blog here, and one of our favorite weddings we’ve featured here and here.

Florida-based Dede Edwards is as talented at taking fun, colorful, and lighthearted images as she is at stunning portraits.  We love how she uses the beautiful (but strong) sunlight of a beach wedding — what we like to think of as her specialty — to her advantage.  Visit her website here and fun blog here!

And last but certainly not least, we present to you another insanely talented husband-and-wife duo, Scott and Cristen Chester of W. Scott Chester Photography.  We’ve fallen in love with their work over and over again in the past (as evidenced by Jennie + Alec and Liza + Tyler, two recent SW features).  Give them some love at their website and blog!

Check back next week for more from our favorite members of the SW sponsor family!
