Southern Weddings

Today’s Southern Spotting is just another tiny Southern detail I thought y’all would enjoy!

Judy + Kenny packaged their bamboo utensils in custom packets, and I think they make such a splash on an otherwise neutral table! The hot pink cowboy boot stamp is too cute.

Thanks so much to Eve Greendale for sharing!

Hi ladies! In our continual effort to offer the very best set of resources and Southern inspiration to y’all, we’re setting up a new page on the Southern Weddings site! It will be just that — a page — with links to our favorite blogging Southern brides. All that you have to do to be added to the list? Be a bride currently planning a wedding in the Southeastern United States that blogs at least two times a week! If you fit the bill, just leave a comment here with your blog address and a little about you and we’ll take a look at your site. We’ll also send you a lovely button designed by Sierra that you’re welcome to post in your blog’s sidebar!

For those who are curious, this is separate from our Southern Bride of the Month feature. You’re welcome to apply to both, of course, but you don’t have to have a blog or be a Southern Bride Blogger to be a Southern Bride of the Month! To see how to become an SBOM, click here.

Can’t wait to hear from y’all!

I am full of southern pride, born and raised in Texas and currently living in Georgia. I am engaged to my fiance, Justin and planning our wedding while balancing my small business! I love all things wedding and started my own invitation company in Atlanta, GA. Separate from my business, I blog atleast three times a week about all different wedding inspirations and trends. I love expressing my ideas and plans for myself and for my readers! Oh, and I love Southern Weddings Magazine! :)

I don’t know if I fit…I’ve had a design blog for a few years and started blogging about my wedding planning back in November. Every post isn’t about the wedding…but many of them are. :)

    I’m in Charlottesville, Virginia.

I’m from Virginia, living in Texas, and proud to be a Southern belle! I’m not engaged (yet!), but I blog about weddings every day on http://something-pretty.net :)

I didn’t read the part about “a little bit about you”…
I’m a born and raised North Carolinian and couldn’t be happier living in the South. I love planning our wedding but even more that my fiance is a big help – he even posts on our blog sometimes! I love the idea that the inspiration I post for my own wedding can help other brides with theirs! :)

Hi! My name is Veronica, not engaged (yet) but I am sporting a beautiful promise ring on my left hand! I am from Fort Worth, Texas and just started a blog earlier this week called “Ring By Spring?” The future fiance and I are already planning our wedding and even have a date set! I plan on blogging every few days about my relationship with my boyfriend up until our wedding day which is exactly 709 days from today. In the blog I write about what we have experienced while dating, getting engaged and planning our wedding.

I’m from Canada, but my fiance plays professional hockey in Northwestern Florida, where we live from October to May. We were engaged last Christmas in New Orleans in front of the St. Louis Cathedral. We are getting married in Canada on July 14th, 2012. I am trying to add lots of Southern touches to my wedding – from bow ties to sweet tea, grilled cheese sandwiches and the Fleur de Lis to honor our NOLA engagement. I love living in the South, and my favourite blog of all time is the Southern Weddings Magazine blog!

Maybe because I’m Canadian I don’t fit the profile, but I just wanted to leave a message to tell ya’ll how helpful this site is :)

My fiancee is from the north and I’m from the south. :) I write a blog called Eat My Wedding with creative tips and tricks on how brides can save money on catering costs. My profession is an event designer for a Virginia based catering company.

I’m from the south and my fiance is from the north. We’re planning a southern-themed wedding in VT this fall (everything from magnolia leaves to bottled Coca-Cola, cheese straws to gardenias, and shrimp and grit cakes to mason jar centerpieces). I’ve been documenting the wedding planning process on my blog: ashleymorganarts.wordpress.com.

  19. avatar Madelynne Miller reply

Hey! I am getting married in less than 1 month – but I started a blog last week that goes all the way back to the beginning documenting my planning, from ring shopping, to shoes, to planning the ceremony, to money. I have found that hindsight is serving me well writing about my experience planning an Alabama wedding in April :) This will be a scrapbook of memories for myself and little tidbits of advice for all the brides out there planning a budget-conscious, stylish wedding!

Hey, y’all! In the name of bringing even more Southern delights your way, we’re starting a series of “Ultimate Southern” prompts on the blog. Our first one? Escort cards! Vendors, we’re looking for your most creative, most Southern ideas for escort cards. My favorite example is these classic soda bottles:

Photos by Steve Steinhardt and styling by Beth Helmstetter

Simple, Southern, and sweet. Vendors, feel free to team up, though your submission doesn’t have to be anything elaborate — in fact, we want these ideas to be easily executable by brides everywhere!

A few details:

— Your escort cards can take any form, but the most important piece is that they be SOUTHERN.

— Anyone can enter as an individual or a team — vendors, brides and grooms, and wedding or Southern enthusiasts alike. And you don’t have to be Southern to enter!

— To enter, please send 5-10 professional-quality photos at 600 pixels wide and a brief description of your escort cards to howdy at iloveswmag dot com. Subject line: Ultimate Southern Escort Cards

— Include the names and websites of all your team members, and a list of materials and links to sources used. Please include directions for any DIY projects you may have done.

All submissions must be received by 11:59pm on August 17, 2011. Submissions received after the 17th will not be eligible.

— Our favorite submissions will be posted throughout the week of August 22, and the winner, who gets ultimate Southern bragging rights, will be announced the following week.

— Submissions cannot be posted or tweeted until published on Southern Weddings.

We can’t WAIT to see what y’all come up with! Questions? Leave them below, and we’ll do our best to answer them!
