I hope y’all are having a wonderful weekend full of Southern Doin’s! Take a quick break to watch this lovely wedding film from Pen Weddings, and I guarantee you’ll feel just a bit more Southern than you did before :)

From Sarah, the videographer:

Susanna and Brian are one of the most happy, giddy, in-love couples I have ever seen. It was almost shocking anytime you saw them NOT smiling. This entire wedding– the couple, the family, the wedding party, the guests– was the perfect example of southern charm and hospitality… and let’s not forget the yummy southern cooking. Fried chicken, fried catfish, green beans, rice… so yummy, and so perfect for this wedding. The groom is not a huge “cake person” so he had a pie bar instead, and oh my was it good. And boy did this crowd love to dance. The Regulars Band from Atlanta rocked the night away! The wedding was at Brian’s family’s ranch in the small town of Coushatta, Louisiana and you could tell how much it meant to them to have it there. No only did Brian and Susanna plan much of this wedding online (you should see Susanna’s Pinterest boards), it’s where they met too. Hearing them tell the story of how they became friends on Match.com is so fun, and funny. It was in fact their Southern roots that brought them together, as they were living in Orange County, California at the time and Susanna was excited to find another southerner in the area. Everyone put so much effort into making this the perfect day, and it really was.

This week started off with a bang! We were thrilled to work with the lovely Miss Georgia, Jasmyn Wilkins on our most recent photo shoot for V5 on Monday. On Tuesday, we were overjoyed when Lara surprised us with a trip to Maple View Farm for birthday ice cream! That’s right, both our intern Emily Alice and I share a birthday!

Coincidentally, Tuesday was also the day we celebrated the last of National Ice Cream month with a Summer in the South post on homemade ice cream!

We had no shortage of Real Weddings for July! See the highlights from last month’s weddings and tell us what you loved!

Real Weddings are the bees knees

Kristin + JJ’s Whitford Plantation wedding was full of Southern hymns and nods to their family and relationship. See it here.

Lindsey + Michael combined their celebration of marriage with their love of Alabama football! See it here.

Alise + Conor’s wedding celebrate a love story that was like a fairytale! See it here.

Good news!

We’re still looking for some amazing Real Weddings for our next print edition, V5 and have extended our deadline! Take a look at this post if you think you’ve got something good!

Give a big “Howdy!” to our newest Blue Ribbon Vendors! Hugs go out to Bamber Photography, Danielle Davis, Fiore Fine Flowers, Kt CrabbLindy Floral, Plum Pretty Sugar, Molly Gee Designs and Myrtie Blue!

A giant hug goes out to all of y’all out there who are saying, “I do” this weekend, including our Southern Bride Blogger, Kaitlyn!! Congrats, friends!

Y’all, I love ribbon — my idea of a good time is searching for the next great spool that I just have to add to my overflowing collection. So clearly, I’m very excited to introduce today’s sponsor, Midori Ribbon!

Midori just recently launched a brand-new and beautiful site that makes finding the perfect ribbon, gift wrap, or wedding accessory easy. I particularly love their new collections, where they’ve grouped products into distinct styles, like this one, Summer Fun.

Check out their seven 2012 bridal collections here!

We’ve featured lots of awesome ribbon wedding details in the past, so I thought it could be fun to pick out just a few, and show how they could be recreated with Midori styles! This rainbow reception installation is quite eyecatching:

To recreate the texture of this look, I’d recommend a mix of Midori’s dupioni silk, double-faced satin, organdy, and grosgrain ribbons. See more from this wedding (shot by Nate Henderson) here!

I love the look of classic tin cans on a getaway car!

Dress them up with Midori ribbons in organdy and double-faced satin. (And see more from this wedding, shot by Anahi Navarro, here!)

Lastly, I just have to share with y’all Midori’s herringbone ribbon, possibly my favorite thing on their site! Look at that delightful texture…

Midori has kindly offered Southern Weddings readers 15% off all orders with code LAUNCH12, and free shipping on orders over $50 with code SWMag! So what are you waiting for – go check out all their goodies for yourself!
