Google+ Colorful Florida Wedding by Tina Bass, Part II - Southern Weddings

Southern Weddings

Holy cow, y’all. Carolyn + Dustin’s reception at the Museum of Fine Arts makes a minimalist design perspective and a restrained color palette look grand. Bright blooms sprouting from tall and short vases stand out elegantly against the all-white tables, chairs, and china. Of course, pink and orange napkins punch up the scene. The newlyweds’ ombre cake topped with a magenta bow, courtesy of Olympia Catering, is a stunner — I may have already saved it to my folder of favorite wedding cakes. Maybe. Dessert is kicked up a notch with a Pinkberry ice cream bar (I die). I can’t forget to mention Carolyn’s adorable reception dress with a big pink bow. It looks stunning in these Tina Bass photos as she and Dustin make their getaway through a row of sparklers.

What was Southern about your wedding? Our wedding represented the elegance of the South, and the sun and heat were typical of July in Florida. Also, country music songs were played for the first dance, father-daughter dance, and cake cutting.
Describe your wedding flowers: My bouquet was a beautiful bundle of garden roses and spray roses with snapdragons, all in shades of pink, orange, and yellow. Half of the tables at the reception had tall, white vases filled with pink gladiolus and hydrangeas. The other tables had three small, white vases with orange flowers, including orchids, snapdragons, and spray roses.
Describe your wedding cake: Our four-tiered wedding cake was a gradient of pink, with the darkest shade at the bottom. A magenta colored bow cascaded down the layers. Silver monograms of our initials, C & D, sat on the bottom tier.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Finding things I loved within budget (which was raised more than once).
What range did your wedding budget fall into? $25,000-$50,000
What is the one thing you are most happy you splurged on? The venue.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? All of the crying when my dad made his outstanding toast.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Children, eventually. For now, finishing school and beginning our careers.
