Hi, friends! I’m Carrie Joy, a wedding photographer based in Marietta, Georgia, a town full of Southern charm just outside of Atlanta. I come alive capturing weddings for elegant couples who value family, fun, and tradition! My style is both fine art and documentary, and my favorite images to capture are joyful and authentic. My couples value marriage–knowing that the wedding day is just the start of their journey together. I absolutely love forming a relationship with my couples throughout the planning process and beyond, with a goal to help each one realize that they are seen and loved!

Things you’d write home to your Momma about: I’m so blessed to be a part of such amazing days in the lives of my clients! Since my first wedding eight years ago, I’ve had the privilege of capturing 130 weddings to date. I’m also a proud member of Professional Photographers of America, and have been a WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Awards winner the past five years running.
How I got into weddings: After studying art and photography in college, a friend asked me to capture her wedding the summer of 2008. I love people and adored the experience of documenting the day, but I wasn’t hooked until I came across a photo I had taken during the ceremony. As the groom turned to say his vows, the nervousness that had been so apparent melted away and this look of pure love covered his face as he committed his life to his best friend. The image was so powerful that I started to cry! I realized in that instant that I wanted to capture moments like that for other couples to look back on, through good times and bad, as a reminder of their love and the commitment they made to each other!
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? Can I say the food? In all seriousness, Southern food is pretty incredible, but the people are what really make a place. I love the warm, hospitable nature of Southerners; we value hard work, family, and tradition. I also love the sunny days, summer nights full of fireflies, and the beautiful locations that create wonderful backdrops for weddings across the South!
Favorite part of a wedding day? Being a Daddy’s girl, one of my favorite parts of the wedding day is the daddy-daughter First Look, and I also shed a few tears during almost every father-daughter dance! A close second is when the bride and groom say their vows to each other during the ceremony. It brings back memories of the first wedding I ever photographed and reminds me of my own commitment to my husband!
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Let go. Give yourself permission to just relax and enjoy your wedding day because no matter what happens, you’re marrying your best friend!
Dream travel destination? Amalfi, Italy is my favorite place on earth, and I dream of photographing a wedding there one day! I would also love to visit Australia and Antarctica to fulfill my life goal of visiting all seven continents!
Favorite Southern city? I absolutely adore Charleston, South Carolina! I love everything from the amazing food scene and historic architecture throughout the city, to the way everyone dresses up for dinner!
Early bird or night owl? Early bird! I love waking up and having the day full of possibilities in front of me. The sunrise is a reminder of God’s goodness and will always hold a special place in my heart!
Favorite pie flavor? I’m in love with chocolate pecan pie, but my grandmother’s homemade apple pie with its amazing, flaky crust (a family recipe) has always been a favorite!
Favorite biscuit topping? Homemade strawberry jam
