Full Name: Anna Kerns
Where you call home: Frederick, Maryland
Location/Coverage: I’m based in Maryland + Washington DC, and travel for destination weddings, wherever your love takes you.
Things you’d write home to your Momma about: I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Savannah College of Art & Design, where I refined my skills as a fine artist and graduated with highest honors. My commitment to creating beautiful work of the highest quality can best be described as “no grit, no pearl.” After 8 years as a wedding photographer, my work still brings me so much joy! I really enjoy being a part of a couple’s wedding planning process, and it’s a privilege to capture such intimate, romantic, beautiful moments in their lives!
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? Southern weddings are truly a celebration – of family and friends who have made you who you are, of delicate heirlooms and time-honored traditions, of savoring all things delightful and delicious (including sweet tea!), and of a love that will last forever! My photographic style pairs well with elegant settings, particularly at Southern venues with historic charm or captivating nature. I’m drawn to details, which are so cherished in the South – from intricate lace on a bride’s dress, to delicate blooms tied up with ribbon, to the glow on a bride’s face when her groom whispers something in her ear. I adore couples who want to treasure their legacy with beautiful imagery; who want to have and to hold their love story, and each other.
Favorite part of a wedding day? The quiet moment the bride and groom share together during portraits! As much as I love spending time with family and friends, I remember on my wedding day how refreshing and romantic it was to have some alone time as newlyweds! It’s a chance to take in all the excitement and joy of becoming husband and wife! Plus, your photographers will get some really sweet photographs for you to treasure for years to come.
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? I know you have a lot on your wedding checklist, but make time for date nights! Whether you get dolled up for a night out, or cuddle up on the sofa in comfy clothes, do your best to set aside wedding talk on date nights. Just enjoy being engaged! Go make some memories with the one you’re going to marry!
Dream travel destination? Ireland and France are next on my list! And I’d love to go back to Italy!
Favorite Southern city? Savannah, Georgia. After living there for six years, I could practically be a tour guide, but I still love to visit and explore!
Early bird or night owl? Night owl
Pie bar or red velvet cake? I had both at my wedding! Plus Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes. I love sweets!
Pottery Barn or Anthropologie? Pottery Barn
