Some of our longtime readers may remember this cute couple. Sarah + Ryan were the winners of the mega-popular photo contest sponsored by Brion Hopkins back in 2010, and we couldn’t pass up the chance to feature their dream wedding at the Belle Meade Plantation. The bride happily donned the Melissa Sweet “Prague” gown she first fell in love with online, but it’s her snazzy Hunter boots – and sweet smile – that really complete her wedding day look. (Her more formal but equally adorable glittery kicks are a J. Crew find.) Y’all seem to love chic sweater ensembles just as much as I do, so you’ll probably swoon over Sarah’s cardigan-clad bridesmaids in matching J. Crew ensembles and carrying rustic bouquets from The Enchanted Florist. Mary Alice Sublett of A Delightful Day offered day-of coordination, and Brion Hopkins (naturally!) photographed the lucky newlyweds.

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We actually met at Robert’s, a Nashville honky-tonk one week after Ryan moved to Nashville to begin his residency at Vanderbilt. He asked me to dance, I said “yes,” and the rest is history. What can I say? Ryan’s a great dancer.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Heartfelt, fun and perfect.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Ryan’s favorite detail was the dessert table. He’s the decisive one, I guess, because I can’t name one specific detail that was my favorite. I loved everything about the day: the invitations, the ceremony programs, the acoustic guitar/vocal solo during the ceremony, the bouquets, the décor, the lighting in the stables and, most of all, the sheer joy on every single person’s face.
What was Southern about your wedding? Our wedding was very Southern! Our ceremony took place in the horse stables of a Southern plantation, followed by a reception in the adjoining carriage house. We hung magnolia wreaths on every window, and used magnolia leaves as a main element in the floral decorations. For extra seating at the reception, we covered hay bales with ivory quilts and throw pillows. We served mac & cheese out of mason jars, to which I affixed our monogram and tied the lid with a twine bow, and Tennessee brisket. Even our band was very Southern, playing songs that allowed our greatest friends and family to two-step well into the night.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I knew that I wanted an understated and ethereal, yet elegant, wedding dress, which is actually really difficult to find! I looked at what seemed like thousands of dresses in magazines and on websites, and found just one dress that I absolutely loved: Melissa Sweet’s Prague dress. Only one store in Nashville, The Bride Room, carries Melissa Sweet, so I called to see if they also had the Prague. The Bride Room did not have the dress, but they requested it from Melissa Sweet’s showroom and shipped it to Nashville for me to try on the weekend that my mother was visiting. It was the first dress I tried on and, although I tried on other beautiful dresses, I knew all along that I was going to wear the Prague on my wedding day. I am so thankful for the girls at the Bride Room for finding the perfect dress for me!

[…] Here a cone. There a cone. Everywhere a PINE cone. Are you planning a Winter Wedding? If so, why not go with a nature friendly theme and use a design element that is readily available this time of year. Buy them by the bag (unscented) or plan ahead and start collecting. Although rustic at first glance, pine cones can be dolled up to be rather glamourous. Take a look at how others have used them in their wedding decor. They make the perfect place setting. Use them to make a sweet and stylish tablescape too. They make beautiful aisle decor. And we are LOVING this bouquet! Oh how darling. Just a pinch of pine cone sweetness for the ring pillow and flower basket. This cake screams winter holiday to me all because of its’ simple cone cake topper. I love this garland too. Here it is shown hanging in a hallway but wouldn’t it make a great ceremony backdrop? If you’re having a December wedding, it would be fun to bring in some holiday color too. And let’s not forget about the fellas. They will be looking rather dapper with just a hint of winter on their lapel. Pine cones speak to the chill of the season but also exude warmth in decor. Use them in small doses in your wedding ceremony and reception and there is likely to be a sense of ‘coziness’ that runs throughout your event. There’s just something about them, right? Maybe it’s because they remind us of the holidays or family in general. I know, for me, I remember that when my mom brought home pine cones I got super excited because I knew that meant we were going to be decorating the tree. Whatever it is about them, using pine cones in the decor for your Winter Wedding is a definite MUST DO. Happy Holidays and Happy Wednesday, lovelies! We’re only two days out from Christmas, ladies + gents!! Who’s excited?! The SW office, that’s who! To tide us over until the 25th, we bring you this delightful slice of wedding inspiration. A collaboration between LMG Events and Chudleigh Photography, this shoot is as sweet as a sugarplum.

Clean + crisp paper products from Pink Piggy Design welcome guests (a handsome groom doesn’t hurt, either!).

A hot cocoa bar is the perfect way to warm guests after they come in from the cold! Love this idea for holiday parties and winter weddings alike.

I am loving the team’s bridal styling! It’s so rare to see long sleeves these days, but this shoot shows they can be chic and glamorous. The gown is by Atelier Aimee from Alta Moda Bridal, and the hair and makeup styling is by Studio Enizio.

I am not the hugest fan of purple in general, but I think it’s a fresh and elegant choice for a winter soiree. This table design certainly proves my point, I think!

And last but not least, the cake. HELLOOOO, gorgeous cake, courtesy of Pink Peach Cakes!

Thanks so much for sending this shoot our way, Chudleighs! We’ll consider it an early Christmas present.

The talented vendors involved:

Event Design and Production: LMG Events // Photography: Chudleigh Photography // Venue: Wadley Farms // Bride’s Gown: Atelier Aimee, Alta Moda Bridal // Bride’s Hair and Makeup Styling: Studio Enizio // Bride’s Necklace and Shoes: Nordstrom // Bride’s Earrings: Apt 202 Boutique // Floral Design: Studio Stems // Stationery: Pink Piggy Design // Cakes: Pink Peach Cakes // Holiday Tree: Modern Display // Head Table: CG Sparks // Chair and Linen Rental: Diamond Rentals

Ashley is a bride after my own heart. First the gor-geous gown, and now the stunning cake? (In case you couldn’t tell, I’m a lover of all things bow: bow tie, bow dress, bow cake, I love ’em all.) Just in case you were fooled by the lifelike airplane, the Air Force-inspired groom’s cake is the handiwork of the Ritz Carlton Pastry Shop. And yes, that is the bride, a former cheerleader at Florida State University, performing a cheer routine at her wedding. No big deal. I do believe Sara Kauss has made my Monday – and, quite possibly, my week – with this Florida wedding.

See all the photos from Ashley + Judd’s wedding in their Real Wedding Gallery!

What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? My parents who were born and raised in Beaufort, SC have raised my 2 sisters and I on a tradition of a frogmore stew a.k.a. the low country boil every year. My family introduced Judd’s family to the amazing feast during Judd’s pilot graduation weekend. For the rehearsal dinner, Judd’s parents arranged for the head chef at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes Orlando to duplicate my dad’s recipe card he had given to Judd’s dad. They had written on a chalkboard sign “A Boxx Family Tradition.” It brought home and our southern way to a beautiful wedding. It was the perfect beginning to an amazing wedding weekend. My something Blue was a 1940s powder blue hanky that I ordered from etsy to represent not only my something blue, and the fact that my dress had amazing pockets but also to represent the love of history, oldies, and the days of a simpler time Judd and I love so much.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: In Utah, designer dresses are few and far between. Priscilla of Boston was top on my list. It was in the first boutique I went to, Avenia Bridal, that I saw a dress on display that caught my eye. I immediately fell in love and knew it was just so me. I continued to shop around and still couldn’t take my mind and thoughts away from this one dress. I decided to go with my heart and order the beautiful Maeve gown from the Priscilla of Boston in Orlando, where the wedding would take place.
Describe your wedding flowers: My wedding flowers were absolutely amazing. It was a winter wonderland wrapped up in a beautifully displayed bouquet mixed with white roses, white peonies, white ranunculus, and silver foliage such as lambs ear, silver brunia, and mini white pine cones. Deco ice rhinestones were worked throughout bouquet and the full stem was wrapped with extra material from the alterations of my gown. Around the stem I had picture frame charms of our family members that had passed and couldn’t be there to watch us wed.
Describe your wedding cake: My wedding cake was simple and elegant. It was 4 tiers with ivory fondant and two large navy bows that duplicated the bow on my dress. We put a broach in the center of each bow to add some sparkle. The groom’s cake was a surprise to both the groom and I. Judd’s father planned the whole thing with the JW Marriott Pastry Chef. It was a large C-17 Landing on a Charleston AFB runway. It was absolutely amazing.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Judd is being deployed at the end of this month and were excited to go on our honeymoon in April when he returns. We’re looking forward to a happy healthy life together full of love and laughter.
