Every day, but especially on Memorial Day, we are tremendously grateful for not only the men and women who serve our country, but also, for the people who love and support them most–their families and friends. Before William was deployed to Afghanistan, he and his sweet bride, Victoria, eloped, and their romantic day was captured beautifully by Lauren Rosenau. No stranger to distance and bracing themselves to spend their first year of marriage apart, these two are as brave and committed as they come, but on the day they were married, all that mattered was that they were becoming husband and wife!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to William for his service to our country, to Victoria for bravely supporting him from home, and to Lauren for sharing their joyful elopement with us!
From the bride:
When I look back to our last month of college, it’s hard to believe that while we started as friends, by graduation day, we were dating, making plans for adventures out West, loving life, and most definitely ignoring the fact that we had each already accepted jobs in what seemed to be opposite ends of the universe.
Our separation became even greater when Will joined the Army in 2011. While I think Will wanted to ask long before our seventh year of dating, he finally asked me to marry him on November 9, 2013 under a canopy of silver beech trees in my hometown of Milton, MA.
It wasn’t too long after that balmy New England winter morning in November that Will found out he was deploying to Afghanistan. If we had already handled long winter drives, cancelled flights, and poor phone service thwarting our togetherness, we could handle making life plans oceans apart.
But first, before he deployed (like the week before), we wanted to show the world our love and capture our happiness and gratitude for each other on film. Will is the one who found Lauren Rosenau’s amazing photography. I could not have asked for a more fitting artist to capture this special moment in our lives.
On February 9, 2014, just days after the South was crippled by heavy ice storms, I somehow needed to get from Boston to Fayetteville, NC. I am fairly certain that if I ever fly through Charlotte, NC again, the US Airways ticket agents will remember me as the girl that had a very important date to make!
With my own army of perfect strangers helping me get to Will, I made it in the nick of time. Despite the chilly weather and the fact that the morning started before mimosas could be served, the day could not have been any more perfect. While we wait to be reunited, these photos hold us close. They capture a time and place, a promise to each other, and a wish for a lifetime of adventure and happiness together. Hurry home William, you still owe me some mimosas–it’s time to celebrate!
Lauren Rosenau is a delightful member of our Blue Ribbon Vendor Directory!
