Thanks to this year’s very long winter, I feel like I have been dreaming of summer for months, and Maria and Jack’s cheery wedding is the perfect eye candy to hold me over until June! A talented graphic designer, Maria took great care in creating branding for the day that perfectly captured their whimsical, colorful, Southern style. From the invitations down to their favors (jam jars in honor of their new married monogram: JAM!), every detail of Maria and Jack’s big day was thoughtful and joyful!

How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story. Our invitation said it best: “Maria and Jack met at The Baseball Tavern in October 2008. She was new to town. He was visiting from Vermont. They struck up a conversation and he got her number. As luck would have it, he had a job interview in Boston the following week. He asked her to lunch and that was the beginning of their long-distance relationship. It went like this for seven months: Maria visited Jack in Vermont. Jack visited Maria in Boston. Jack graduated, passed for the bar, (fished when he could), and got a job in Maine. Maria began her adventure – living, working, and enjoying life in Beantown. Their journey continued for another two years and three months. Maria bused up to Maine. Jack (and Mac) drove down to Boston. Eventually, the stars aligned and Maria ventured north. They made a home together on Maple Street. After just a few short months, true to form, the call of duty brought them to Buffalo. It took about three and a half years, five cities, 16,737 miles, 37 bus tickets, and 1,040 phone calls to realize that a fleeting moment can become forever.”

As many brides do, I fell in love with a dress I saw in a magazine. I knew I was going to be in Atlanta for a weekend that spring, so I called around, found the dress at a local boutique, and gathered all the ladies in my family for a fun day of dress shopping. I tried it on and absolutely loved it, but I had a feeling I should keep looking, so we headed over to Bridals by Lori to try on a few more. As soon as we arrived, my Nana insisted I try on a Spanish-inspired dress she saw on the mannequin (Nana was born and raised in Spain, so it was a must). As soon as I tried on Nana’s pick, I immediately knew it was “the one”–we all did. It was the perfect way to incorporate my Spanish heritage into our wedding, especially because Nana had picked it out.

Did you decide to do a “first look”? Why or why not? We decided not do a first look on our wedding day because we loved the idea of seeing each other at the altar for the first time. That being said, I’m Catholic but we wanted to be married outside, so in order to be married in the Catholic church, we had a small ceremony on Friday before the rehearsal dinner. It was such a special, intimate experience shared with only our immediate families, and it allowed us to be jitter-free the following day.

We stayed the weekend, got ready, were married, celebrated, and danced the night away just steps from my parents’ home in the North Carolina mountains at Mountaintop Golf and Lake. I would highly recommend doing as much as you can in a single location–it made for a stress-free day!

Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? We exchanged traditional Catholic vows. We loved the simplicity and meaning behind those vows, and although they have been repeated by millions of couples, these vows were ours and ours alone. On a somewhat related note, the priest that married Jack and I had also married my parents (who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this fall!). We always knew that we wanted him to marry us, and when he agreed, we knew the ceremony was going to be incredibly special.

My something old was the diamond in my engagement ring, which was Jack’s grandmother’s. My something new was my fabulous dress. My something borrowed were gold coins called arras, lent to us by a relative from Spain that she used during her wedding ceremony. My something blue was actually a surprise–my dad’s parents have passed, so my family had one of my grandmother’s handkerchiefs sewn into the underside of my dress and embroidered in blue with a lyric from “I Hope You Dance,” a song that is very special to our family.

I would classify our wedding as rustic chic with lots of fun Southern details. Guests received welcome bags that included a wedding weekend itinerary with a thoughtful introduction to the North Carolina mountains, a local brew from Jack’s hometown, Georgia peach gummies, and North Carolina peanuts. Upon arriving to the ceremony, guests received mason jars filled with sweet tea and a Kraft paper bag program holding a pair of branded white wayfarers, because the ceremony was facing the sun. Mint juleps were served at cocktail hour, an assortment of mini pies were for dessert, and we had a whiskey/cigar bar to enjoy during dance breaks. My favorite Southern detail was the branded jar of jam, because our monogram is JAM!

Describe your wedding flowers. I absolutely love mixing and matching bold colors, patterns, and textures, so we chose a dozen different fabrics within our poppy and mint color scheme and had runners made for our gorgeous farm tables. Every other table had a different runner and different flower arrangements. There were heads of cabbage in wooden boxes, poppies in clear glass bottles, peonies in milk glass vases, hydrangeas in vintage tins, and succulents in mercury glass vases. Every table was so fun and different, while keeping a cohesive overall look. With a TON of help from my mom, sister, planner, and florist, my vision was brought to life, and let me tell you, it was even prettier in person.

Describe your wedding cake or dessert. Instead of traditional wedding cake, we opted for a variety of pies. We make rhubarb pies every other weekend during the summer, so we shared a rhubarb pie while our guests chose from blueberry, apple, cherry, and rhubarb. For the groom’s cake, I surprised Jack with hundreds of Oreos (he’s obsessed!) stacked in the shape of a cake. It was a hit!

Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them. Jack and I shared our first dance as husband and wife to “Swept Away” by the Avett Brothers. We went to their concert on our second date and we’ve always loved their music, especially the lyrics to that song. My dad and I danced to “My Maria” by Brooks & Dunn, a song we had danced to many times before/since, but none of which were nearly as special as on that day.

Tell us all about the proposal! Jack proposed on March 9, 2012, shortly after we moved to Buffalo, NY. It started out just like any other Friday night. I had not yet started my new job, so I ran a bunch of errands earlier that day and had just come from the gym to pick Jack up from work. My birthday was earlier that week, so the plan was for us to walk our dog along the Lake Erie waterfront and head home to get ready for dinner. As we were walking and talking, I mentioned that I had found a great deal on his favorite shaving cream, to which he replied, “Oh, I got you something today too.” Just as I was thinking, What could it possibly be, you were at the office all day! he said, “Well, I thought we could get married next spring” and pulled out a little black box. Although we had been dating for over three years (most of which was long distance), moved together twice, and talked about marriage numerous times, that sentence stopped me dead in my tracks (and made me drop our dog’s leash…we’re still not sure where he ran off to during those five minutes of sheer bliss). Jack got down on one knee, poured his heart out, and asked me to be his wife. It was casual, unexpected, and more perfect than I could have ever imagined. To top it all off, Jack surprised me with my parents and sister who had come into town to celebrate for the weekend.

How many friends, family members, and loved ones attended your wedding? 177
What readings, if any, did you have at your ceremony? We each selected a reading that was meaningful to us. I fell in love with Genesis 2:18-24 and Jack chose a quote from A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. Together, these two readings represent us as a couple.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: My favorite detail was hands down our wedding paper suite. The paper goods were extremely important to me, so I teamed up with a friend to create the wedding suite of my dreams. From (literally) telling the craziness that is our love story with letterpressed invitations, to naming table numbers after places that are near and dear to our hearts, to designing labels for the sweet little jam jar favors, we created a beautiful, cohesive brand for our wedding that truly captured the essence of who we are as a couple.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? The biggest challenge was planning from afar. From video chats with vendors, to early morning phone calls, to venue visits (both with and without me and Jack), we are forever indebted to our parents, siblings, planner, and everyone who helped make this challenge a blessing in disguise.
What was one way you saved money or cut costs at your wedding? We did some serious homework when it came to selecting vendors. We made sure that each and every vendor was not only a good fit for us and our vision, but our budget. We identified and focused our budget on the specific things that were very important to us and saved on other areas that we agreed we could do without.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? As my dad and I spent some amazing quality father/daughter time, we watched guests arrive and the ceremony begin. I’ll never forget seeing Jack walk down the stairs to the altar. As soon as the doors opened and my dad and I started walking down the aisle, the sun peeked out from behind the clouds. After my mom and dad gave me away, Jack was so excited he tried to kiss me the second we got to the altar!
What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? My advice may seem like an oxymoron, but it would be to plan and enjoy. Put in the legwork up front by allowing family and friends to chip in, building an all-star team of vendors, putting together a timeline, and a list of “must haves.” By doing each of these things, you’ll be able to truly enjoy every moment of the day you’ve been looking forward to your entire life.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you most looking forward to about married life? We spent an unbelievable honeymoon bike riding through Spain and (reluctantly) returned back to real life. We genuinely love Buffalo, but once we start thinking about a family of our own, we’re hoping to venture South to be closer to our families. Also, shortly after our wedding, the friend I had worked with to create our wedding paper suite started a wedding branding company called Mia Maria Design!

A mountain hike, a car ride, and a breakfast-turned-lunch date were all it took for Annie and Tim to know that they had found something special in each other. While this may have made starting to date an easy decision for most people, they had to consider something unusual before committing to each other–the fact that they would have to be in a really long distance relationship. However, the oceans between Texas and Australia weren’t enough to separate these two, and their months of Skype dates and saving up for plane tickets most certainly paid off. I love the way they combined Southern traditions with favorite things about Australia at their wedding, and in turn, made their celebration completely unique to their amazing love story.

How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story. I lived and studied in Sydney, Australia for two years, but even though Tim and I had mutual friends and had been going to the same church the entire time I was there, we didn’t meet until six weeks before I left. Two of my friends invited me to go with them to the mountains, and we met up with some of their friends there, including Tim. I remember thinking he was really cute, but since I was moving home soon, I never imagined we would end up together. On the way home, my friend messed up the axle of the car, we ended up having to leave her car in the national park and ride home with the boys. The next day, Tim drove my two friends and I back to the park, so my friend could get her car towed and fixed. We spent the day together visiting little cafés and going to lookouts until the car was ready. Tim and I literally talked the entire way home, and he asked me to go to breakfast with him the next day so we could continue our conversation. After our first date, we became inseparable, and it took me all of two weeks to completely fall in love with him (which I kept to myself until after he told me he loved me three months later). A week before I moved home, Tim asked me to be his girlfriend, and I said yes, which was definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. We dated long distance for 18 months and did five overseas visits, thousands of Skype calls and millions of text messages. Long distance is definitely challenging, but when two people want it to work, they will make it happen, even if that means spending all of their money on airfare or waking up super early to call each other.

My wedding flowers were amazing! My heart melted every time I looked at my bouquet. It was full of blush roses, anemones, berries, and sprigs of greenery. I wanted something beautiful with a little bit of an earthy feel to it. My bridesmaids’ bouquets were smaller versions of mine without the anemones, and with some brighter pink roses to ensure the bouquets didn’t blend in with their dresses.

Did you decide to do a “first look”? Why or why not? No, a first look wasn’t even an option for us–we both really wanted the moment I walked down the aisle to be the first time we saw each other on the day. It was so special. I’ll never forget his face when he saw me coming down the aisle, and I wouldn’t trade that moment for anything.

Tim and I share a faith in God, and we wanted our ceremony to reflect this. We started the ceremony with a prayer and a worship song. One of our friends, a pastor from Australia, spoke about the foundations needed for a strong and lasting marriage, and he read from Corinthians in the Bible. My dad, who is a pastor in Texas, led us through our vows and married us, which was really special for me. Before we closed the ceremony, my dad prayed over us and our families stood by us, symbolizing their support in our lives and marriage.

What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Probably holding Tim’s hand during the ceremony while we were all singing a worship song together. I can’t explain how happy I felt–I was finally going to get to marry Tim, and I knew I was making the best decision of my life. Another great moment was during the cocktail hour when the bridal party drove five minutes away to a huge hayfield to take pictures, and we had so much fun. We ran around the field and were all laughing so hard. I am so glad we had that time with our best friends. Plus, the pictures turned out amazingly!

One of the elements that we really wanted our wedding to have was Southern hospitality. We wanted all of our Australian guests to experience how genuine, friendly, and fun Southerners are! The biggest way we incorporated the Southern traditions in the wedding was with our food. Tim and I LOVE Southern food, and for us, BBQ was a must–you can’t get more Southern than a good BBQ, and we had brisket, smoked chicken, sausage, potato salad, coleslaw, and beans. You can’t get BBQ like that anywhere in Sydney! We also did a pie bar to showcase Southern desserts. Our favors were homemade blackberry and fig jams that I made with my bridesmaids and a family friend. One fun element that we included was when we taught the bridal party a line dance at our rehearsal dinner, and we all performed it at the reception. Everyone joined in, and it was so much fun to see the two cultures come together.

Describe your wedding cake or dessert. Our wedding had a ridiculous amount of desserts. We love food and we wanted our guest to enjoy themselves! Our wedding cake was four layers–two layers of chocolate with raspberry filling, one layer of red velvet and cream cheese filling, and a layer of white cake with lemon filling, all covered in buttercream frosting. We also had a dessert table next to our cake table, which my sister and grandmother made most of the desserts for. They baked mini carrot cake cupcakes (my favorite), cookies in the shape of Australia, and milk and white chocolate covered pretzel sticks. A family friend also baked sweetie cookies for us and we brought over a suitcase full of Tim Tams (famous Australian cookies). At our dinner, we had a pie bar instead of cake, to add some Southern tradition to the day. This was one of my favorite things about the wedding because the pies were made from scratch by a local farm close to our venue, and most of the ingredients came straight from the farm itself. My mom and I had a blast going to the farm and taking home a ridiculous number of pies to taste. We chose seven flavors: coconut cream, apple, chocolate cream, lemon meringue, chocolate pecan, buttermilk, and strawberry cream.

Tell us all about the proposal! It was April 2nd and I hadn’t seen Tim since January 8th. I knew that he was coming to Texas to propose, but I expected him to come in March. He worked really hard to make sure I had no idea when he was coming, which was driving me crazy. He even gave his younger sister his phone so she could send me pre-recorded videos, pictures, and messages while he was flying overseas, because he knew that if I didn’t hear from him for a day, I would know he was coming. One of my best friends, Jamie, was getting married at my venue, Oakwind, in May, and asked me two weeks earlier to go to the venue and do a cake tasting with her because her fiancé had a meeting. I didn’t think a thing of this because I had been helping Jamie with lots of the details for her wedding. When we got to the venue, not only did we do a cake tasting, but we also went over almost every detail of her wedding. Little did I know, Jamie and Ann (the venue coordinator) were stalling for time because Tim’s flight had been canceled because of bad weather, and he miraculously got on a flight with another airline just in time. When we were finally done with the tasting, Jamie and I got into the car to drive back home when she started playing a CD from her car. I soon realized it was Tim’s voice coming through the car speakers. Tim had prerecorded himself telling me how much he loved me and how happy he was I was in his life. At the end of the recording, he said “If you want to continue on this journey with me, come and find me.” I jumped out of the car and ran all over the venue looking for Tim–it was about 9:00 at night and was raining. I ran into the barn, which was lit up with candles, lanterns, and fairy lights, and there he was. He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife, and I said yes. Jamie and her fiancé, Joshua, came in and we all had champagne and cake together in the barn. It was absolutely perfect, and everyone was amazed they had pulled it off because so many things went wrong! The barn Tim proposed to me in is the same barn where we had our reception. It made the venue even more special for us!
When did y’all get married? February 15, 2014
How many friends, family members, and loved ones attended your wedding? 150 for the ceremony, 100 for our private dinner
Tell us about finding your wedding dress. This was one of the most difficult things for me–I went to at least ten different bridal stores in Houston. My mom and I even drove all the way to Austin to try on what I thought were my dream dresses, but we still didn’t find the one. I couldn’t believe how picky I was, but I just had this idea of what I wanted in my head, and nothing was quite right. I was moving back to Australia in less than a month and I really wanted to find my dress before I left, so I was definitely praying! One morning, I woke up and decided to try again at a little bridal boutique just 20 minutes from where I live. When I walked into the boutique, the owner remembered me and said, “I think we have exactly what you were describing last time you were here–it just came in.” I tried on the dress, and honestly, all I felt was relief! It was perfect, and EXACTLY what I wanted.
Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? We decided to say the traditional wedding vows, but we also wrote our own vows. I cried the entire time I wrote my vows–there is something so powerful about expressing your commitment for another person in words. I’m glad we did this because it made the ceremony especially personal for us. My favorite phrase from Tim’s vows was “Annie, I have fallen in love with you, and I make a commitment to myself to fall in love with you daily. I do not just say I do, but I choose to love you through everything.”
Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding and why you chose them. We chose our songs together, which was a lot of fun. One of the best nights of my life was cuddling with Tim on the couch and looking for the perfect song for me to walk down the aisle to. We chose “Sun” by Sleeping At Last. Our families walked down the aisle to “Kingdom Come” by The Autumn Film, and up the aisle to “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors. Our first dance was to “I’ll Keep You Safe” by Sleeping At Last. We picked songs that we both loved that would help give the right “feel” to the day.
What was one way you saved money or cut costs at your wedding? The biggest way we did this was buying, borrowing, and doing a lot of the details ourselves. This means you have to plan more, but if you are on a tight budget, it’s definitely the way to go. My mom, grandmother, and I went to about twenty different resale and antique shops to get old tea cups and books for our afternoon tea tables. I also spray painted bird cages from my sister’s wedding for some of the tables. A friend who is a builder tracked down rustic doors and helped me build my photo booth, which looked amazing. Friends really helped us in huge ways.
What is the one detail or vendor that you were so happy to have as a part of your wedding? I am so happy that we chose to invest in great photography and videography. At first, I wasn’t so sure because it took up so much of our budget, but looking back, it is worth it! The day goes by so quickly and I am so happy that we have beautiful pictures and an amazing video to help us remember everything. Tim and I have watched our wedding video again and again, and we love our photos.
What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? I guess the biggest piece of advice I can give is don’t compare your wedding to other weddings. Use blogs, Pinterest, and social media as tools for ideas–they are so helpful, but at the same time, appreciate that your wedding is unique, and you don’t have to have a live band or a five-course dinner for it to be wonderful. If you keep the mindset that the day is going to be perfect because you’re marrying the person you love, you will set yourself up for a win. Also, focus on building a strong marriage with your future husband, and really take time to prepare for your life together. Tim and I read books together, went to pre-marriage counseling, and set up a budget before we got married, which helped us grow as a couple during the engagement and set us up for our marriage.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you most looking forward to about married life? So far, I am absolutely loving married life–it really is the best. Tim and I just moved to a cottage in the mountains of Sydney, Australia, and it’s absolutely perfect. There really is nothing like having your own place together. We are both working and studying and enjoying building a life together. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect person to do life with.

Today’s wedding hits close to home for me–it took place less than an hour away from my parents’ house, and is where one of my sweet college sorority sisters is getting married this fall! As with many of our Texan couples, Summer and Jonathan did not shy away from including some state pride in their wedding day. Country tunes and two-stepping at the reception? Check. Cowboy boots for all? A no-brainer. A getaway pickup truck? Absolutely. Jonathan and his groomsmen even wore Texas star-shaped sherrif badges as boutonnieres–so fun!

Jonathan is an incredible date-planner. We’ve had meals “around-the-world,” starlit picnics with tea light candles in mason jars, and fancy nights out on the town. But it’s always the same: he knows, and I don’t. So, when he whisked me off to an adventurous date in Chappell Hill one day, I was clueless. We met the owner of a ranch, and it was almost as if she wasn’t expecting us. Accompanied by a cowboy named Chris, we bridled our horses, locked our boots into place, and rode off through a field of wildflowers. The bluebonnets were in bloom, the cows, calves, and longhorns were really busy eating grass, and the sun bent beams through the clouds–I was in heaven, and Jon knew it! Rather abruptly, Chris remembered he needed to take care of something that had to do with ranch life, so he tied up our horses and we grabbed two lawn chairs and took in the beauty around us. Jon said, “Let’s go to the fence.” Then, he took me in his arms and proclaimed his undying love for me. He got down on one knee to the beat of my “What are you doing? What are you doing? What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Jon washing my feet. It’s a biblical parallel to when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. In that day, and any day for that matter, it was a humbling thing for a man to do for someone. It came to represent the humility necessary to serve others, a mandate for all Christians. The Bible tells men to serve their wives, as Christ served the church. Jon got down on the ground in his suit, took off my boots, and washed my feet in front of the crowd to display his commitment to serve me for the rest of our days.

Our first dance song commemorated the night that Jon wanted to kiss me but didn’t–we had gotten dressed up cowboy/cowgirl style and went to the Humble, Texas rodeo to listen to our favorite band, the Josh Abbott Band. They cleared the floor of animals and we headed down with the crowd to dance. They played “Oh Tonight” which has a line that says “Go on and kiss me on the mouth, you know you want to and you should’ve done it by now.” I was sure that all those elements–the lights, the privacy of being in a crowd, my dress, the closeness of our faces, THAT LINE– would’ve made for the perfect first kiss story. After months of leading up to it, surely, SURELY, but he didn’t do it. We had a good laugh dancing to the song and kissing at that part at our wedding.

We aren’t just Southern–we’re Texan! We ordered pecan, pumpkin, and apple pies from a local bakery in Montgomery, Texas. We played country music and two-stepped. We left our reception in a hay-filled truck bed. Our wedding cake was even made by the sweetest old lady from backwoods Texas named Barbie, who ran her shop out of her trailer. It doesn’t get more country than that.

How did y’all meet? Tell us your love story. We met at a fightin’ Texas Aggie tailgate and Jonathan was head over boots. Me, not so much, but I was excited about the prospect of new friends in Houston. I started going to his church’s young adult service, and Jonathan became more and more charming and impressive over the weeks. Since he was my small group leader, we couldn’t date, so we proceeded to be “just friends” over weekly frozen yogurt, weekends with my family, and an absurd amount of text messages. Finally, we went on our first date, but something just didn’t feel right, so I ended it. For about two months, we barely spoke. Suddenly, on New Year’s Eve, I realized I actually cared a lot about Jonathan, and I knew I had to tell him, so I wrote him a card and sent it in the mail. He wrote me back, clearly misreading the intent, so I realized I had to tell him to his face. When I saw him at a meeting with the other small group leaders, we had an awkward interchange, and then in front of everyone, I told him how I felt. We finished the conversation at his house, on his porch. He, understandably, was blindsided, but he gave me hope. As we sat on his porch, I saw it–60 years from then, gray, worn, joyful. Rocking back and forth and holding hands and looking at the life we built. I knew that night that I loved him. Three days later, he came over for a Bananagrams, homemade wine (his!), record-playing, windows-open kind of evening. We became best friends that night, and three and a half months later, he asked me to be his wife. I’m sure glad I wrote that card. :)

Tell us about finding your wedding dress. I walked into the first bridal store I could find and picked the first dress I tried on!
Did you decide to do a “first look”? Why or why not? We didn’t. We wanted that moment of seeing each other for the first time as I walked down the aisle, and it was so special. I’ll never forget his face: full of pure joy. I felt like I was coming home.
What readings, if any, did you have at your ceremony? “Be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the Church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves Himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, because we are members of His body. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.” Ephesians 5:21-33
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? I began teaching 11th grade English at a charter school in August. I had training through all of July and our biggest round of exams fell right after the wedding, so my husband planned most of the wedding and organized EVERYTHING around it. He’s a good one!
If you are comfortable responding, what range did your wedding budget fall into? $10,000-$25,000
What is the one detail or vendor that you were so happy to have as a part of your wedding? Round Top Collection. They are family friends of ours and supported us by supplying a bunch of sweet antique items for us to use to decorate.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? It’s cliché, but I loved when I saw Jon’s face as I walked down the aisle. He has a particular smile he uses when he’s REALLY happy, and he was also a little teary. It was wonderful.
What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? Marry a man who is invested in it. This isn’t “your” thing–it’s both of yours.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you most looking forward to about married life? We are currently applying to a program that will take us on an adventure around the world!
