When we announced our first ever series of calligraphy workshops back in February, I know that I was not the only one squealing with delight! We were so happy to host 40+ guests as we eagerly soaked up lettering lessons from Lauren Essl of Blue Eye Brown Eye. Lauren’s buddy Anna Routh (one of our Blue Ribbon Vendors!) was both responsible for convincing Lauren to come to Chapel Hill in the first place, and for photographing the festivities – we’re so grateful for her!

The Southern Weddings crafting machine was in full gear in the days before workshops – and we’re pretty proud with how our fringey garlands turned out!

Of course, the supplies were completely adorable. All of the basic tools needed to get started with calligraphy were included in the class fee!

Molly of the lovely paper boutique Ply (downtown Chapel Hill!) was gracious enough to lend us her space for our classes. The SW gals split up hostessing duties over the four classes, and we each chose something a little different for our snack of choice, but yummy options included biscuits with pimento cheese, cucumber sandwiches, hummingbird cupcakes, herb parmesan popcorn, and Key lime pie!

The floral straws and mason jar tops are from Shop Sweet Lulu. Morgan, our Shop Manager, lettered each attendee’s name!

Big hugs to all of the gals that came out for our classes, to Lauren for teaching them, to Molly for hosting them, and to Anna for photographing them!

Finally, I know there were a LOT of y’all that we weren’t able to accommodate at this first round of classes, so I have two pieces of good news:

1) Lauren is actually based in Dallas-Fort Worth, and she teaches classes locally! She also frequently travels to other locations to give workshops – check out her schedule here.
2) Due to overwhelming demand (more than 20 on the wait list for each class!), Lauren has planned a second trip to Chapel Hill for this November. Keep an eye out for sign-ups in a few months!

Happy Friday, friends!
