What’s better than a wonderful wedding video? Not much–except for maybe a wedding video that includes proposal footage! After swooning over Laura and Mason‘s sweet love story and meaningful wedding, it was such a treat to see their special moments come to life on film. Many thanks to Films by Flint for sharing this with us!

Happy Saturday, belles! Anyone game to start the day with a dreamy Southern fairy tale of a wedding? Meryl and Peyton were married on a gorgeous spring day in Mississippi, and from the abundance of magnolias to the groom in a white dinner jacket, their plantation wedding was the epitome of classic elegance. They also happen to be one of the most beautiful couples I think I’ve ever seen. I love the way their videographer, Nathan Willis, captured so many of their sweet glances and joyful moments!

From the bride:

We were married at six o’clock in the evening, Saturday, May 25th on the front steps of historic Dunleith Plantation in Natchez, Mississippi.

My gown was designed by Carolina Herrera. It was a strapless, A-line ball gown fashioned from ivory silk tulle and mikado with hand-painted lace detail and taffeta floral appliques, encrusted with crystals and mother of pearl disks. The gown’s chapel-length train was complemented by a cathedral-length veil, designed to match the gown with the same floral embellishments, crystals and bead work. I carried a ribbon-wrapped bouquet of magnolia blossoms, David Austin and Juliet roses and cream-colored peonies. Bridesmaids wore blush, one-shoulder evening gowns fashioned from draped crinkle chiffon by Watters & Watters. They carried similarly styled bouquets of David Austin roses and blush peonies.

Drawing inspiration from Dunleith’s richly-decorated main house, the reception tent was appropriately appointed with Regency-style banquette seating and natural linen Normandy sofas. Dining tables in assorted sizes and shapes were clothed to the floor in acorn-colored damask and floral embroidered patterns, reminiscent of fabrics found throughout many of the Delta’s finer antebellum mansions. Centerpieces included loosely-arranged peonies, David Austin roses, ranunculus, heirloom hydrangea, both tea and English spray roses and other late spring flora, all in blush, cream, and varying shades of pink. The entire party scape centered beneath an orbit of crystal, pewter and wrought iron chandeliers suspended amongst Little Gem Magnolia trees, measuring sixteen feet in height and planted in custom-made pickled wooden boxes.

The sweet delight of the evening was the Magnolia State-inspired wedding cake. The towering confection, designed by Edna Welch of Natchez, was a twelve-tier composition of alternating layers of Italian creme cake with cream cheese filling and white almond cake, iced in almond buttercream with caramel filling. The groom’s tables did not lack in their sweetness either and were overflowing with petite jelly jars, filled with Mississippi mud pies, creme brûlée and white chocolate bread and rice puddings, served with demitasse spoons.

However, the evening’s main attraction was the Nashville-based band, 14 Karat Gold. After they commanded the dance floor for over three hours, they saw us into the late night under a shower of fresh rose petals.

Happy Memorial Day weekend, y’all! We thought we’d start off this day with a special film from Nathan Willis. Sarah + Nathan are self described “old souls and hopeless romantics,” and we think their sweet wedding film is just the perfect representation of that. Be sure to keep an eye out for my favorite clip! Hint: it involves two adorable kiddos at the reception!

From the bride:

When we first met, it was not love at first sight. The fact that Nathan was three years old and I was two months old when our eyes first locked may have had something to do with that. Over 20 years later, we became better acquainted. Our mothers had grown up close friends, which resulted in two very pleased families when we announced we would be married on February 23, 2013. Due to our families’ combined knack for planning and decorating, sorting out wedding details proved to be a pleasurable experience!

I envisioned a simple wedding with a vintage flair that not only complimented our style, but also our personalities (we are two old souls who happen to also be hopeless romantics). The Venue in downtown Hattiesburg exemplified just that. The building had the perfect vintage vibe for our ceremony and reception due to its history of housing a bakery warehouse in the early 1900s. To continue with the vintage theme, our families pulled together to decorate this beautiful building with family heirlooms, antiques, and lots of lace. Guests were seated at tables as a beautiful harp was played. With our loved ones watching and our attendants by our side, we vowed a life of love to one another. It was truly the sweetest moment of my life.

The reception had a carefree atmosphere with the help of the soulful sounds from the Cowboy Blues Band. Guests enjoyed wonderful food, dancing, and even a homemade photo booth. The guests were given a take-home bag to fill at a candy bar tiered with chocolate candies and pralines. Our beautiful cake was embellished with a silk broach and topped with wooden love birds reading, “We Do.” The groom’s table was a tribute to Nathan’s fishing hobby, complete with a vintage tackle box, lures, and a fishing net. Three wooden tree stumps served a variety of miniature cheesecakes.
At the end of the night, guests lined up outside The Venue for our sparkler send off. It was such a lovely party! This day was made special thanks to the efforts of so many people. We are so thankful for the memories of this wonderful moment in time which started our life together.

As Mother of the Bride, I as especially proud of these two, Sarah and Nathan. Their wedding was as beautiful as they are. So happy their video can be shared with others! Two of the cutest slips are when they are really laughing during the ceremony (because I know what they were laughing about) and then when they kissed, and the ring bearer covered his eyes (have to be looking out for for this because it’s quick)!

    Thanks, Southern Weddings Magazine!
