There is something so magical about rehearsal dinners: the joy of family and friends reuniting, the excited anticipation of the wedding to come, and most of all, the opportunity for the bride and groom to put their months of planning to rest and just be present. While they can range from backyard barbecues to five-course country club dinners, we have a soft spot for couples who use this event to showcase something special about their wedding location. Tim and Claire were married on Kiawah Island, so they chose to celebrate the evening before their wedding with a traditional Lowcountry oyster broil. Our beloved Blue Ribbon Vendors, Landon and Jordan of Landon Jacob Photography, were on hand to capture every stunning Southern detail, and we were so excited to share it in V6!

From the bride:

The natural beauty of Mingo Point speaks for itself–it is a beautiful outdoor venue with plenty of Southern charm, overlooking the stunning river around Kiawah Island. We wanted to dress it up, just a bit, to create a warm, inviting environment for the special moments that happened during our rehearsal dinner. We loved the idea of the oyster broil–it really fit our style and personality. Oyster broils are often done here during the summers, and ours was such an experience for our friends and family who are not from the South. We wanted everyone to try something new!

Taking a moment to take a step back and see the people we love most loving one another reminded us how blessed we are, and that’s what made our rehearsal dinner so special. We loved all of the small moments that our friends shared with us and each other to create an evening we will cherish forever.

I love everything about this rehearsal dinner and am going to use it as Inspo to pull from. I am absolutely in LOVE with the olive wood vases and was hoping you could tell me where they came from?? Thanks so much

Belles, we have a treat for you today, because Spencer Special Events and Landon Jacob combined to create a gilded editorial that is simply beautiful. We’re especially fond of this inspiration because it was drawn from what’s proven to be an endless well of inspiration for us, too — the beautiful landscape of the South itself. From the oyster details to the soft white, cream, gold, and green color palette, every piece was inspired by the hues of South Carolina’s tidal creeks.

This beautiful bouquet by Garden on the Square is made up of Patience garden roses, white Majolika spray roses, gold Queen Anne’s Lace, gold seeded eucalyptus, white lisianthus, and succulents. Gorgeous!

Our friend Annette from Chaviano Couture supplied this palest peach gown!

With each issue of Southern Weddings, our team make-up has changed just a bit (which is why we love reminiscing about our old friends!). We’ve been so very lucky to work with a variety of talented photographers for our team photos over the years, including Millie Holloman and Nancy Ray, and this year was no exception. We were thrilled to spend the day with Blue Ribbon Vendor Landon Jacob! They happily indulged our requests for multiple locations and outfit changes (you know how we roll), and though you’ve likely seen these gems on social media, we wanted to share a few more of our favorites with you today!

Before we even got out the door, though, Landon and Jordan captured a few snuggles with the youngest member of our team!

You know we love a good front porch, so a pretty one we had scouted near our office was our first stop.

This one’s kind of an outtake, due to my and Marissa’s awkward hug. She really loves me, I promise :)

While the rest of us caught our breath and changed outfits, Lara and Nicole headed to a local garden shop to take a few photos with some very special friends!

We knew corn was going to be a major part of this issue, so we decided to take our next set of photos in a beautiful nearby field. We happened to hit it at the perfect point in the growing season — isn’t that glossy green just gorgeous?

We borrowed gowns from some of our most fashionable friends for this portion of the shoot — Marissa is wearing “Bailey” in honeysuckle from Donna Morgan and Nicole is wearing “GA112C” in shell by Amsale.

Oh yes, these two were workin’ it with the hats! Kristin is wearing “JH5375” in blush by JLM Couture and Lara is wearing “G764C” in coral by Amsale.

Rounding things out, I am in “Genevieve” by Erin Fetherston and Lisa is wearing “JH5357” in blush and rose by JLM Couture.

Our third and final destination was Fearrington, one of our favorite local venues. We snapped just a few more photos (which turned out to be some of our favorites!) before heading into our summer team dinner.

Big hugs again to Landon Jacob — we couldn’t love these photos more!!

This collection of photos perfectly captures the Southern Weddings family! I absolutely love the variety with both everyday outfits and the gorgeous gowns – you ladies looked stunning. The locations are charming, too, especially the corn field. My favorite photos are the individual shots on the porch and the sweet moment captured of Lara and the chicken. Great job Landon and Jordan!
