Good morning, belles! Hope you had the happiest Thanksgiving and are enjoying a slice of leftover pecan pie with your coffee this morning! We’re ready to welcome the Christmas season with open arms, and we know many of you are out shopping the holiday sales to check off the names on your shopping lists. We wanted to remind you can can stay cozy in your pajamas and visit the Southern Weddings Shop and snag deals up to 50% off!

Hurry on over to pick your favorites, especially if you are shopping for a bride, newlywed, or bridesmaid this holiday season! If I could marry KPW all over again, I would snag that amazing Bride Bundle faster than butter melts on a biscuit. It’s everything a bride-to-be needs to plan for her big day and beyond!

And for readers near and far, I’m excited to announce that we’ll be hosting the annual Southern Weddings Ornament Swap for the eighth year in a row! As someone who loves getting “real” mail, I can personally vouch for how much fun it is to participate. We had an amazing swap last year and would love for y’all to participate this time around.

Here’s how it will work (please read carefully!):

1. By Monday, December 5: Email [email protected] with “2016 Ornament Swap” in the subject line. Include your name, mailing address, email address, website/blog address, and Instagram handle.
2. By Wednesday, December 7: I will have emailed you the names and addresses of up to five people to send ornaments to. Yep, that means you’ll be sending up to five ornaments, and you’ll be receiving up to five in return!
3. By Wednesday, December 14: Be sure to send out your ornaments no later than this date! Then, all that’s left to do is wait for the holiday goodness to roll in.

Your ornaments can be homemade or store-bought, and we suggest that you make them as Southern as possible :)

If you have any questions, leave a comment on this post or email me at [email protected]–we can’t wait to see the ornaments y’all share this year!

How much should we $ spend per ornament , or is is there a min./max. price range?

How much should we spend $ for each ornament? Is ther a minimum or maximum?

    • avatar Kristin reply

Carol, there is no minimum or maximum but I would say nothing too expensive. A lot of people get crafty and make ornaments! Feel free to email me: [email protected] if you have any further questions.

In the Southern Weddings office, we all have different approaches to the holidays.

Emily prefers to give Thanksgiving its due, not decking the halls for Christmas a day sooner than Black Friday. Lisa prefers to get all of her holiday shopping done in November, so she can focus on spending time with loved ones in December. I prefer to celebrate the holidays as soon as possible—they only come once a year, and don’t last that long!

No matter how we approach our yuletide celebrations, we all agree on two things:

1. We love a good deal, but Black Friday sales are much too stressful for us, and we’d prefer to spend that day with our families.
2. When it comes to gift giving, the more meaningful, useful, and beautiful, the better.

I’m guessing y’all would agree on those two points, too! This year, we’re taking them to heart and running our annual holiday sale for an entire WEEK! Today through Monday, November 28, you can take up to 50% off select products in the Southern Weddings Shop.

We even went ahead and combined our most popular items into one AMAZING gift bundle! The bundle is the ultimate gift for any Southern bride, and includes the Southern Weddings Planner, the new Welcome Home Guestbook in natural linen, a Marriage Certificate in gold foil, Southern Weddings Volume 9, The Wedding Day Journal, and a Vows Booklet Set in blue. The whole bundle is valued at over $150, but is on sale for $99 for this week only! Find the Ultimate Southern Bride Bundle here.

Whether you’re searching for a sweet gift for your bridesmaids, the bride in your life, or your favorite newlywed couple, you can find prints, journals, and even our Project Life collection up to 50% off for the next week.

Head to the Southern Weddings Shop to explore all of the deals. No coupon code needed, and no Black Friday rush required :)

Happy Monday, y’all! If you’re off to a bit of a slow start like I am, maybe today’s wedding will help get you in the spirit! (You know, the Monday-Funday spirit.)

Shelley + Greg’s wedding is fun, indeed! Is anyone else crazy for Shelley’s white “getting ready” dress and her adorable monogram and flower-adorned bag? It’s a good sign when you’re finding things you love in a wedding before the bride even puts on her wedding gown! (Shelley’s gown is actually her second white dress. Her first was ruined by the cleaners after her bridal portraits — yikes!) We’re loving the big pink bouquets and boutonnieres and the striped details, from the groomsmen’s custom ties to the wedding programs. Cheers to Virgil Bunao Photography who shared this fun wedding with us!

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We actually met on match.com. Greg is from Cary, NC where I was born and we learned that we even went to the same pediatrician when we were infants! Greg drove down to Charleston last October for us to meet and we clicked immediately. We had an amazing weekend together and I knew that weekend that Greg was the man I wanted to marry. He met my family and all of my parents’ friends the following weekend and they, of course, loved him. Greg and I make a perfect team together as husband and wife and as friends.
Describe the proposal. Greg proposed to me at my parents’ house in Ohio on December 23. We were able to celebrate with my family until Christmas day and then flew to Cary to celebrate Christmas and our engagement with Greg’s family.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Nostalgically Southern, beautiful, and fun.
In what month did you get married? July
How many guests attended your wedding? 115
What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? We love pink and green. The guys all wore khaki suits with custom made pink and green ties from M. Dumas & Sons. The girls kept it simple in pink J.Crew dresses and wedge heels, while the four children in the wedding wore custom-made seersucker john johns in green and dresses in pink with their monogrammed initials on the front. We wanted the entire day to be Southern and detail-oriented so we also provided pink and green flip flops in galvanized buckets, custom-made bottled water, pink and green koozies, pink and white striped ceremony programs, bamboo fans, monogrammed pink and green matchbooks for the sparklers, and more.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: To make a long story short, I ended up with the most perfect wedding dress just two weeks before my wedding. My wedding dress was ruined by the cleaners after my bridal portrait shoot and I was forced to find a replacement dress, which I wanted it to look as much like my original dress as possible. Lula Kate had a sample very similar to my original Lula Kate dress, but it was too tight for me. I took the dress to my seamstress and she worked magic. She lowered the back on the replacement dress to make it more comfortable and Lula Kate rush ordered a replacement sash to make my wedding day dress better than I could have imagined.
Describe your wedding flowers: Breath taking! Whitney far exceeded our expectations and we will never forget the flowers on our wedding day. We told her that we love pink and green and love tulips, peonies, and hydrangea. Whitney hit a home run with the flowers. She even brought a beautiful pink peony for me in a mason jar for the girls to put in my hair for the reception. I loved it!

The girls in the office know, but I used to have an oversized jute tote bag very similar to the monogrammed one above. I loved that thing and wore it out! Such a great gift idea for the girls. I got mine for $5 at a wholesale trade show. They had all kinds of colors!

This wedding is absolutely beautiful! Does anyone know anything about the dress the bride is wearing in the photo with the tote bag? It’s exactly what I’m looking for in an exit dress and ties in perfectly with out decoration motif.
