We’re back with another Ask the Experts column!

This week’s query comes from Elizabeth. She writes:

“Quick question from a bride-to-be:

Have y’all ever done a post on great, personal hostess gifts? I have a few showers/parties coming up and am on the hunt for some good gifts for the hostesses.

Thanks!”

But of course! Here are a few of our favorite ideas:

A. If your pal is hosting at her home, how about a stylish return address stamp? We love these ones from Paperwink.

B. Southern favorite Paloma’s Nest has a whole host of gifts that could be perfect for an entertainer. We particularly like these gold-rimmed placecards, which we used in our V2 Serenbe shoot!

C. For a gal close to your heart (bonus points if she’s preppy!), we love this set of six heart cups and saucers. Too cute!

D. For hostesses who are of age, we’d pair South Carolina favorite Firefly Vodka with a set of gorgeous drinking glasses. Our office’s personal favorite flavor is the peach sweet tea!

E. For the hostess who whips up amazing eats for your shower, head to your local Home Depot or Lowe’s and pick up a pair of mini rosemary trees. Fold kraft paper around the base, tie on a ribbon, and call it a day!

F. For a lady who’s born and bred, order up a custom state pillow from Love California. She’ll customize the color and shape to your specs!

G. For the girl who refuses to drink out of anything but a mason jar, pick up the delicate porcelain version spun by Alyssa Ettinger. Pop in a few blooms for bonus presentation points!

H. The perfect gym, beach, or shopping tote bag, this is the gift for the girl on the go. We love the preppy stripes! If it’s summer, pop in a towel and a chick lit about friendship :)

I. For the pal who’s on top of trends, pick up a few snazzy chevron plates from Aedriel Originals. Bright and cheery!

J. The most delicate bowls for your most delicate friend. We love the gilded ones, but Up in the Air Somewhere makes bright colors, too!

K. Last but certainly not least, these white porcelain farmer’s market baskets will add some dressed-up Southern style to any hostess’s entryway. Find them at Jayson Home & Garden.

What’s the best hostess gift you’ve ever given or received?

I am a bride-to-be as well. Recently, I gave personalized stationary as a hostess gift and it was a huge it. Paper Affair sells adorable stationary and they will personalize it for free with your order. They have a plethora of font and color options for you choose from for the personalization as well.

Thank you so much for answering my question & for the suggestions!

I used Embroidery by Melissa on Etsy (www.embroiderybymelissa.etsy.com) for embroidered Linen towels with their intials as a thank you to my hostess and guests.

She was very quick and worked with me on colors before she made them,

Like our last Handmade Find, this isn’t one you can necessarily buy, but I thought it might serve as lovely inspiration anyway!

Dani and Nelson were married at a summer camp, and I LOVE how they brought that carefree spirit into their canoe getaway! I might also have a soft spot for their sign since I made so many for my sister’s wedding.

I love it! I grew up going to summer camp (and I am an avid canoer) so this is just perfect!

Hello, sweet readers! We’ve got one more V-Day post for you (did you catch last week’s red round-up and purple tablescape?). This one’s all about hearts. And the best thing about these hearts? They’re not just for Valentine’s Day! We think most of these ideas could be used at a wedding year-round. After all, weddings, at any time of the year, are about love, are they not? Let’s dive in!

First, we’ve got hearts for you hair, your shoes, your fingers.

That darling heartband is from ban.do (and bonus: all of their Valentine’s Day goodies are on sale for 25% off right now!). The eensy rose gold heart ring is from Catbird. Giant Dwarf makes the most magical heart and star crowns and hairpins. Check out the heart boutonniere by Alison Conklin on Ruffled.

Now that you’ve outfitted yourself, it’s time to outfit your reception!

Hand a balloon to every guest and amazing photos are sure to follow! (Photos by Youkeun Oh via Style Me Pretty). We loved the bold heart programs from this fun wedding by Our Labor of Love (see more here and here!). This thumbprint heart print from Nella Designs would make such a neat focal point propped up at your reception, and these thumbprint napkins are just genius (photo by Kristin Spencer). How about gifting each of your guests an adorable Cupid Kit from Paper + Twine? The last three images are all from a GORGEOUS wedding by Jose Villa (planned by Instead of You). Where oh where did the bride get those giant vintage tin hearts??

Lastly, these sweet ideas were much too delicious-looking to pass up. And that gold foil cake — I die!

That to-die-for gold foil mini cake? The instructions are right here, on Sweetapolita. This is Glamorous shared these heart tarts. The conversation heart cookies and heart macarons? Not sure where those came from. Shout out in the comments if you know!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I am not one to gravitate to heart items generally but found myself swooning over a few of your finds! The thumbprint heart print is too cute- and would be adorable at a reception and later hung in an entryway or nook in the newlywed homestead! I also love, love, love the huge huge vintage tin hearts! The conversation cookies are also adorable. Happy Valentine’s Day, ladies. Thanks for always providing me with a daily dose of Southern inspiration

Where did those thumbprint napkins come from? So cute

    • avatar Emily reply

Hi Katie! I don’t have a source for the fingerprint napkins, but my best guess is that they were a custom-designed product. To replicate the look, have a designer work with your fingerprints, and then send the art to For Your Party (foryourparty.com) to have it printed on cocktail napkins. Their prices are super reasonable!

I’m such a sucker for hearts. Super cute ideas! The balloons are my favorite. I’ve never seen any like that.
