After the “I do’s,” Tiffany + Ryan moved the party to the Cross Creek Ranch barn for a down-home celebration. I’m still a sucker for those twinkle lights strung over the dance floor and mason jars turned candles lining the banisters! Delectables Fine Catering provided an authentic Southern spread, replete with an authentic red velvet + cheesecake from Alessi Bakery. Describe your wedding flowers: My cousin Susan did all of our flowers as a wedding gift. I only had a few simple requests. I wanted each bridesmaid to have a different bouquet, since I was really adamant about them not looking like uniform ladies in waiting. I love my friends and I wanted all of them to look and feel as awesome as I did on my wedding day. I also asked that a few gardenias be put in my bouquet in honor of her Mother in Law who had recently passed away and with whom I was very close. My cousin did an amazing job with the flowers!
Describe your wedding cake: I hate cake, but I have one exception to that rule: red velvet. For some reason, I had forgotten about red velvet cake’s existence and we had decided to go slightly out of the box and do something with cheesecake, which I do love. At our cake meeting I explained my aversion to cake and our baker brought up something called a “Cheesecake tort.” Basically each layer of cake had layers within it: Red velvet, cream cheese, cheesecake, cream cheese and then another delicious layer of red velvet on top. It was heaven. My husband gets full credit for the cake design. To go with our fall-themed wedding, he decided on a cake that had a branch going across it with falling sugar leaves. We couldn’t have been more excited to discover the day of that the branch was a chocolate covered pretzel. Yum.
What was the most memorable moment about your wedding day? My favorite moment was during the ceremony when it came time for the rings I turned to my best friend and maid of honor, Emily, for the ring. We locked eyes, smiled at each other and then promptly dropped it on the ground. This could have been a moment of class for me, but instead I (unfortunately, very loudly) said “Oh Crap”, except I didn’t say crap… I said the slightly bluer, R-rated version of crap in front of the pastor, my guests, and my in-laws, and then instead of letting Emily gracefully bend down to get the ring I bent at the waist, practically mooned my audience and got the ring myself.
Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? We said traditional vows, but when it came time for me to say, “I do,” for some reason I shouted out, “SURE,” instead.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? This March we are taking a twenty-day European vacation, in May Ryan graduates Pharmacy school, and then we are moving back to Tampa to be closer to our families.
