I’ve been subtly (and not-so-subtly) letting Lara know that I think we need a live-in office mascot of the furry variety. I’ve had my mind set on a golden lab with a blue seersucker bow tie collar, but after seeing the handsome ring bearer at Kristal + Johnny’s wedding, I think we may have to go for a pig, instead!

Kristal + Johnny were pros at including their family in the small details of their big day. I especially love that Kristal surprised her momma with a mother-daughter dance and that Johnny’s best man was his father. Their pot-bellied pig, Hamilton, even got a little more time in the spotlight at the reception — K + J named their signature drink after him! We’re giving giant hugs to Kristyn Hogan for sharing this wedding with us.

Describe your wedding flowers: I had a bouquet using all fresh flowers in shades of blush, champagne, and cream for a soft, romantic look. This included garden roses, peonies, and wax flowers. The bouquet was tied with burlap, a handkerchief handed down from my great-grandmother, and a brooch handed down from my Nana.

We had a long engagement (over two years), so I had plenty of time to find the perfect dress. I visited several bridal stores in Tennessee trying on at least 100 dresses. I envisioned an all lace, strapless gown but ended up with something a little different. My Mom and Nana were with me the day I went to The White Room. I put on my dress, walked out to them, and we all started crying together. I loved the corset back, how it was fitted through the hips, and the multiple layers of tulle. I knew right then and there this was the one!

Initially, I was going back and forth with the idea of doing a “first look,” but I am so happy we decided to do one. Seeing Johnny before the wedding made me so much more relaxed when walking down the aisle. I loved that it was a special moment only between me and him, and that it was captured from afar by the videographers and photographers. I also had a first look with my dad. I gave him his gift, a custom made picture frame with the lyrics of our father-daughter dance, “I Loved her First” by Heartland.

Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? My vows to Johnny: “Today, I want to make a promise to you and to myself — in front of God, our family, and our friends — to give you my love, laughter, and commitment for the rest of my life. I promise to love you in good times and in bad with all of my heart. I will love you for who you are, and help you to become all that you can be. One of the things that I love about you most is your ability to make me smile even when I’m having a bad day. I promise to laugh with you often and to try and make you as happy as you’ve made me. I promise to put our marriage first and to stand by your side no matter what challenges we may face. I promise to respect you as your own person, and to realize that your interests, desires, and needs are no less important than my own. I promise to always be faithful and to communicate with honesty and with tenderness. Johnny, we have been dating for over nine years, which means I’ve been waiting to marry you, my one true love, for one third of my life! I’ve been looking forward to this day for what seems like forever and I can’t wait to spend eternity with you, my husband.”

What readings, if any, did you have at your ceremony? My grandmother read scripture from Colossians 3:12-17: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” I thought this scripture was a good reminder for how a husband and wife should live their lives and treat each other.

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. (From the groom) It seems like yesterday. I was a college art student flying home from New York City for Christmas break. I was so anxious to get home, not really thinking that as soon as my brother’s silver Durango pulled up, my life as I knew it would change. I hopped in and saw Kristal — she was absolutely stunning, beautiful both inside and out. Instantly, I tried to be as clever as possible, wanting every comment to be funny with a flirtatious tone. Thankfully, it worked. As my brother and I planned to go to dinner a few nights later, I hounded him to invite Kristal. When he hesitated, I distinctly remember grabbing the phone, pleading for her to join us. It is that giddy feeling, that constant need to keep her smiling that has never left, and it never will.
Describe the proposal. It all started when Johnny opened his big mouth in front of my mom and dad. He said, “I wouldn’t even think of proposing to your daughter until I shoot a buck in Tennessee!” I knew then, with Johnny, being a city boy and never having hunted before, that I would be old and gray before ever walking down the aisle! However, a few days later, he did the impossible! He killed his first buck. I knew exactly what that meant and patiently (or maybe impatiently) waited for that special day to come. Four months later, on May 4th, my family met Johnny’s family at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, for a night of fun. After dinner, as we walked toward the casino, we stopped and listened to the band play Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.” When the song ended, the lead singer asked if anyone named Kristal was in the audience. I thought for sure it had to be someone else, so I didn’t budge. That is, until Johnny took my hand and led me up the stairs of the stage, grabbed the microphone, got down on one knee and PROPOSED! I was so excited, I started saying “yes, yes, yes” before he could even finish!
In what month did you get married? May
How many guests attended your wedding? 111
Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding. My dad, mom, and I walked down the aisle to a live guitarist and violinist playing Pachelbel’s Canon in D. Hearing that song gives me goosbumps every time! We walked back as husband and wife to the traditional recessional of The Wedding March. Our first dance was to Ray Lamontagne’s “You are the Best Thing.” My dad and I danced to Heartland’s “I Loved Her First” and my mom and I danced to Carrie Underwood’s “Mama’s Song.”
Describe your wedding cake or dessert: The wedding cake was a four-tiered, traditional white cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting. The groom’s cake was a tiered cannoli tower with a chocolate cake on top. The groom’s cake topper consisted of several wooden pieces of New York City’s most influential buildings, imitating one of our favorite views, the New York City skyline.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: Having our beloved potbellied pig, Hamilton, walk down the aisle with the junior groomsman and junior bridesmaid. Also, Johnny painted a beautiful 40” x 50” oil canvas of Cedarwood to be used in place of the guest book. We now have it hanging in our new home and are reminded daily of how blessed we are.
What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? We got married in Nashville, Tennessee, at Cedarwood. Our overall wedding theme was “Burlap and Bling.” From the burlap runners and chair ties, to the sparkling mason jars filled with candles and hanging from the trees, our wedding was very Southern. We even served our signature cocktail, “The Hamilton,” in mason jars!
If you are comfortable responding, what range did your wedding budget fall into? $25,000-$50,000
What is the one thing you are most happy you splurged on? Without question, our wonderful and talented videographers and photographer. Our wedding flew by in no time. There were so many little moments that we missed, but they were captured on film for us to see and remember for many years to come.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? There were so many, but saying our own personal vows was a very special moment. It gave us the opportunity to speak from our hearts and make promises to each other that we feel will make our marriage strong and everlasting. Another was surprising my mom with a mother-daughter dance to our song, “Mama’s Song” by Carrie Underwood. My mom is my best friend and I can’t thank her enough for her unconditional love and support. Lastly, the best man’s toast from Johnny’s dad was incredible and a moment that we will always cherish. His dad has such a way with words – he made the entire audience laugh, cry, and smile!
What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? Allow yourself to be emotional. I was so afraid of being an “ugly crier” and ruining my pictures, that I held it all in. It wasn’t until Johnny and I were on the plane to our honeymoon in Napa Valley that I let it all out. I burst into tears from being so overwhelmed from everyone’s love, and how perfect the day went, and how fast it all went by.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? We just moved into our new home in Auburn, Alabama. I recently graduated veterinary school and got accepted into a small animal internship program at Auburn University. My ultimate goal is to become a board certified veterinary oncologist. Johnny has been blessed with enough work to make his dream come true of becoming a freelance graphic designer, allowing him to work from home. Our ultimate goal is to settle down in the wonderful city where we married, Nashville.

This. Wedding. Rocks! Mariangelix + Steven look like such a fun couple, don’t they? Their outdoor wedding was inspired by the 1940s Southern plantation style that we all know and love from The Notebook. M + S even asked their guests to come dressed in WWII-era garb! In addition to the fun theme, M + S’s wedding was full of amazing color and fun surprises! Their bowling alley reception was kept a surprise until right after the ceremony and guests were treated to adorably-wrapped socks. Love! Biggest thanks to Michelle March who shared this wedding with us.

Tell us about finding your wedding dress: Finding my wedding dress was a tricky adventure. I began the search with my mom, knowing exactly what I wanted: a mermaid shape, ivory lace, cap sleeves and a key hole back. Monique Lhuillier’s “Scarlet” has always been my favorite dress, but it was not in my budget. After weeks and weeks of searching, my best friend was in town and we just decided to stop by a shop where I found my dress! I didn’t have that “Aha,” crying moment that people describe, but I just knew that it was meant for me. It couldn’t have been more perfect!
Describe your wedding flowers: COLOR! This was one of the most important details of my wedding. I treated my flowers as if they were a part of my outfit. I did my own flowers and I used all of my favorite ones, including purple tulips, blush pink peonies, red ranunculus, billy balls, black & white anemones, purple anemones, white hydrangeas, and red pin cushions. I tied it with black and white striped ribbon and finished with a light pink cameo brooch given to me by my mother-in-law. It really was spectacular, the colors were breathtaking!

How much do you love these dapper little gents and their fun sign?

Did you decide to do a “first look”? No, we didn’t do a first look mainly because Steven wanted to keep things more traditional. He wanted to look forward to seeing me walk down the aisle for the first time. I was happy with the decision, it was really sweet!
Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding. Our wedding was 1920s-1940s-themed and very inspired by The Notebook, therefore our song choices were connected to our theme in some way, as well as a reflection of us. We had an amazing pianist, Adlan Cruz, playing our songs on a grand piano. It was incredible! Before the bridal party walked down the aisle, he played “I’ll Be Seeing You.” The bridal party walked down the aisle to The Notebook’s theme song and then my dad and I walked down to “What a Wonderful World.” For the father-daughter dance, we played “Unforgettable”

What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? I feel like our ceremony had a Southern plantation feel to it, especially since it was inspired by The Notebook. I always wanted an outside wedding, so we held it on a piece of land that was on the property of our church. It was perfect! A blue vintage car dropped me off at the end of the aisle, which was elevated just enough so everyone could see. We had benches for our guests to sit on and purple rose petals mixed in with the green grass gave the aisle a nice touch! We gave everyone glass Coke bottles as favors after the ceremony and we played old jazz in the open air, while the wind blew and the sun was shining brightly. It was magical! Another Southern detail, which I treasure dearly, is my 1920s art deco estate ring!

Describe your wedding cake or dessert: I had two wedding cakes. We designed both sets of cakes to fit the theme and reflect us in different ways. The first one was at the small reception right after our ceremony. It was a set of three Puerto Rican cakes with sweet mint green frosting. It was delicious! They were displayed on a red vintage desk with wooden hearts as toppers. The second cake was a bit more artsy. The five-tier masterpiece was the same style of cake as the first one, but with black, mustard, plum and mint colored fondant. The base and top tiers were black and white striped and the middle tier had a beautiful lace design. It was topped off by a set of wooden figurines that I made to resemble drawings that I make of us. Both cakes were made by my aunt, who is an amazing baker and artist in the Central Florida area.

How did the two of you meet? We met in high school. We had similar friends and knew of each other for a while before we started dating. We ended up having the same class my last year of high school and got to know each other. The last day of class before Christmas break, I happened to be leaving school early and he was skipping class. So, that was the first time we officially hung out and after that, it was a wrap! 8 years later, here we are!
Describe the proposal. Our proposal was magical! Michelle March actually had something to do with that as well. She had asked to shoot us a few times before, whenever she was in town, but it never seemed to work out, especially because Steven is not really the most photo-loving guy out there. This time, though, he ended up saying yes! “Just to get me off his back!” So, he ends up contacting my best friend and Michelle and they come up with this grandiose plan. We get some really nice shots in France and then Michelle says, “I want some ice cream,” their code word for the proposal. Of course I had no idea, so I say “Ooh, I want some ice cream!!” However, Michelle goes back to her position and keeps snapping away. About a few seconds later, Steven starts saying all these nice things to me and I think he’s joking (because he’s a jokester) so I tell him to stop playing! Then he gets on one knee and says, “This is real! Will you marry me?” I was so surprised, I started bawling like a little baby! As soon as I said yes, all I heard was clapping from all of the people that were around. It was the most beautiful thing ever! The pictures were beyond amazing and I was just so surprised! The night ended with a private view of the fireworks show on a balcony in the Italy pavilion. Disney really is where dreams come true — it was surreal!

How many guests attended your wedding? 200+
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: I have to pick three!
1. Since it was a themed wedding, we asked our guests to wear attire from the 20s, 30s, or 40s. We didn’t think that so many of our guests would actually participate and it was a great turnout. It was such an amazing feeling when I saw all of those people dressed up right before I walked down the aisle. It was exactly as I imagined it! I felt like I was on a movie set!
2. Our reception! We had our reception at a bowling alley and it was a surprise to everyone! We kept our reception details a secret until the actual wedding day. All of the guests received the details right after the ceremony. They were so surprised and had a blast. It was really awesome to see them enjoy themselves! We wanted our wedding to be FUN as well as a reflection of us entirely. Plus, what’s better than taking your guests bowling?! Our favors were socks, because, of course, we knew they wouldn’t be ready!
3. Balloons and confetti! As we were walking back up the aisle, our guests threw confetti at us from little bags that were placed on the benches. Right before we departed to the reception, we gave everyone a red balloon and they let them go as we drove away. It was phenomenal to see the clear blue sky filled with red balloons as a celebration of our marriage!
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? The biggest challenge was keeping the bowling alley reception a secret. The only people that knew about it were our parents. We really didn’t think that we could do it, but we did! It was a great surprise!
What is the one thing you are most happy you splurged on? Steven’s custom-made suit! He is a pretty fashionable guy, so he always said he wanted a double-breasted suit. The only problem was finding it. We found a custom tailor in town to help us, which allowed Steven to be able to pick everything from the buttons to the lining and the pattern of the suit. It really was a neat experience. Steven always said that if there is any time when a man should splurge on his outfit, it should be on his wedding day! His whole entire combination was brilliant and he looked so dapper! I did not get to see the suit until the day-of and it was a really nice surprise!
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? The most memorable moment was walking back up the aisle with my husband as everyone was throwing confetti at us. It was like a dream!
What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? Be you! Think outside the box and don’t worry about what everyone else is going to think. Our wedding was truly a reflection of us and we didn’t have to break the bank for it. Sometimes wedding visions are way bigger than your budget, so be realistic and think of every possible way that you can do everything you want with the amount that you have. Prioritize your wants and it will all fall into place. Do as many DIY projects as possible. Additionally, don’t get caught up in so many traditions. You can do things your way if you want to! We wanted fun, so we went to a bowling alley! It was memorable for us and for our guests. Don’t let the planning stress get to you. Try to embrace every moment. This day is about you and your groom, so do as you please!
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? That’s a really exciting question! We are recently taking my event design business to the next level and we are ecstatic! Finally we are doing something greater with my passion with Peplum Events & Design. We are excited for the opportunities, dreams and goals that we have for this business. I look forward to growing as partners and building a stronger marriage each day. Kids and those will show up someday! In the meantime, we are passionate about each other’s dreams and desires.

Melanie + Cale are just full of good ideas that made their big day even more special. Dress shopping with mom was one-upped by Melanie’s talented mama who crocheted her entire dress based off a design that they both came up with. The result is not only one-of-a-kind, but perfectly detailed and gorgeous. This is the first time we’ve seen a ceremony set up like M +C’s. They sat hay bales in a spiral formation so that the bride would be able to pass by each guest on her way to the altar (LOVE!). Aside from the sweet touches, this wedding is just beautiful. You would never even guess that flowers were sourced and assembled at the very last minute! (Yikes! Read more on that below.) We’re dishin’ out big hugs to The Reason who shared M + C’s day with us.

I knew I wanted a different sort of dress. My mother happens to be very talented at crocheting, among other things. When I brought up the idea of a crocheted wedding dress, we began looking for patterns. We found our inspiration in a 1960s Vogue Crochet magazine. From that, she and I began to design a dress for my perfect day. The dress took countless hours and about eight months to finish. It was exciting and scary not knowing exactly how the dress would turn out, since neither of us had seen a crocheted wedding dress in person, not to mention this one was our personal design. When I put on the dress for the final time, about a week before the wedding, I said “yes” to the dress! I never once doubted it would be perfect, I never even tried on one single wedding dress but that one. My sister designed the sash after I showed her several pictures of inspiration. My mother also crocheted seed pearls into the top part of my dress for an extra Southern touch. I am confident in saying I had the most perfect wedding dress!

Describe your wedding flowers: We actually had a wedding flower dilemma at first. I had my flowers grown for me in a local greenhouse, but due to an unusually mild winter, they bloomed entirely too early and a week before the wedding, I did not have any flowers. A family friend (and retired florist) who putting the flowers together for me began to search online wholesale sites and we were able to get in a few Helga piaget roses, mini peach carnations, peonies, and an assortment of white flowers that included lilies, snap dragons, and anomies, and much more. We just ordered an array of flowers within budget and mixed them with borrowed greenery from a local nursery and grapevine we cut and dried. This was one mistake that turned into beautiful bliss!

Did you decide to do a “first look”? Yes. We always said we wouldn’t, but when looking at our timeline for the day, we thought it would be best for photos. It turns out to be one of the best decisions we made. That moment of just the two of us seeing each other and getting to appreciate the look on Cale’s face was priceless. The love we both felt at that very moment was overwhelming.

What readings, if any, did you have at your ceremony? We did not do any readings, but we did add a unique touch to the ceremony by watering a “unity” tree. Cale and I picked out a tree together that we would take and plant at our new home. To us, the tree symbolized our new growth together. The tree also reflected the work of marriage to both of us. We even picked a fruit tree because we wanted that to symbolize a “fruitful” marriage, and we know fruit trees require more attention. The tree also fit nicely with the overall theme of our wedding.
Tell us about some of the songs you used throughout your wedding. We both envisioned just having an acoustic guitar for our ceremony, so we asked one of our dear and talented friends to play all of the songs during our ceremony. He played “Marry Me” by Train as the wedding party walked in. I walked down the aisle to “1000 Years” by Christina Perri. Walking back up the aisle was my favorite. I had our musician learn “She Said Yes” by Mumford & Sons. Our first dance was to “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton, which was also our real first dance when we first became a couple. The daddy-daughter dance was to Willie Nelson’s “Angles Flying to Close to the Ground”, and the mother-son dance was to “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder.

Our favorite detail of the wedding was: I think having our loved ones surrounding us in the spiral hay bale formation during our ceremony was the most special. Being able to walk by every person and smile at them both going down and coming back up the aisle was extremely warming.

What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? The first look! Seeing Cale see me for the first time made my heart drop. There are no words to express the feelings we both had when we saw each other.

I think the most Southern part of our wedding was that it was truly was a family feat. We all enjoyed catching up and visiting, even though we were doing physical labor. My uncle and his son did all the electrical work and hanging of lights. Everyone tossed hay bales. We scrubbed, set up the flatbed tailor as our stage, and moved furniture, but most of all, we just enjoyed being family. Cale and I both grew up on farms, so our Southern roots run deep. The hay bales we sat on were baled right on our farm, our centerpieces on our guest tables included drift wood and sand from my family’s sandbar on the Altamaha River, where we were married. One of our party favors was a mason jar for the guest to drink out of for the evening. Our cocktail hour included mint luleps in honor of the Kentucky Derby and pink lemonade margaritas in honor of a Southern Cinco de Mayo. Our “Best Day Ever” Banner was made with burlap. We let both our bridesmaids and groomsmen wear their favorite pair of Southern boots — Cale and I even wore ours!

What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? Enjoy it, have fun, and be yourself. Our wedding was so great because we incorporated who we were into every element. We enjoy humor and have a passion for Southern hospitality. We wanted our guests to leave feeling like they had spent good time with Cale and me, all the while enjoying good food, company, and drinks. We pictured our wedding as a place to relax, celebrate and sit in fine company.

Describe your wedding cake or dessert: Cale does not care for cake, and I love it!! We decided to go with a small traditional wedding cake of pound cake and buttercream icing and then a variety of other Southern cakes iced in white. Our cake designer produced key lime, double chocolate, raspberry swirl, and coconut cakes. We made most of our cake stands out of vintage plates and candle sticks that our grandparents collected for us when they went antiquing.

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We literally grew up on opposite sides of the railroad tracks, about 10 miles from one another, in a small town in Georgia called Odum. We both graduated from the University of Georgia in 2009; Cale with his degree in Accounting, and myself with a degree in Nutrition Science. Cale stayed in Athens to obtain a Masters in Accounting and I went to Miami, FL to attend Barry University to obtain my Masters in Biomedical Sciences. In July of 2010, I returned back to Athens to stay with my sister for the summer months. Cale was in Atlanta doing an internship at Price Water House Coopers and saw that I was in Athens and contacted me over Facebook, suggesting we catch up. We got together for dinner one night and it was then that I noticed something was different. I just couldn’t put my finger on exactly what. We joked, had good conversation and caught up like old friends. I can remember running into him at a red light on the way back home from dinner where he rolled down his window and said that if we both were not married by thirty, we would just marry each other. I laughed, agreed and drove off. Throughout that month, we hung out a few more times. Then one day it just clicked.
Describe the proposal. Cale set up a way for me to spend the entire day “family centered,” without me noticing. I went and got my nails done with my sister, then spent the day by the pool with my mother, sisters and friends. That evening, I knew I was going to meet Cale’s grandparents for the first time and Cale promised me a fun date after they had visited. I began to get suspicious when Cale did not turn to go into the city of Jesup for dinner, instead driving toward my house in Odum. He took me out to my favorite spot on my grandfather’s farm and had packed a picnic. At the picnic, Cale began to tell me how special I was to him, and he was acting very nervous. He told me he had another surprise for me and went to the truck to get something. He asked me to stand up and close my eyes and then placed a wrapped present in my hands and told me to open it. I was ecstatic to unwrap a Bible that read, “Melanie and Cale Harris.” Cale got down on one knee and asked me if I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him, at the same time, unveiling a beautiful rusty nail bent into the shape of a ring. (I always joked with Cale that the type of engagement ring I wanted was just an old rusty nail.) He then revealed the “real” engagement ring, a beautiful blue sapphire, and I said YES! Cale had both family and friends waiting down at the family River house for dinner and celebration.

What is the one thing you are most happy you splurged on? Using The Reason as our photographers. Their raw talent for capturing all the right moments of a wedding day is priceless. At the end of the day, when everything is said and done, all you have left are photos and a video. I can say the way they documented our wedding was more than perfect.
What’s next for you as a couple? We just recently relocated from Atlanta, Georgia back to our hometown in South Georgia. Cale will be running a local accounting firm, and I will maintain my position as the Nutritional Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Agriculture. We are excited to begin our new lives together surrounded by our families in a town we hold so dear. We just recently bought a charming older home, and are looking forward to making it our own We are you looking forward to deep roots and new beginnings! Above all the wedding stuff, we are best friends, and we are just excited to see what path the Lord will lead us on as a couple.

Hands down, my favorite dress I’ve ever seen. Kudos to them. It’s truly gorgeous. I love the spiral idea too! Such a sweet and personal wedding!

I love it – honestly, the dress is AH-MAZE-ING. The entire thing though, is just gorgeous and I wish I had you to plan mine when I got hitched back in 2009.

Love the corn hole lawn game boards! Is there any way to find out if they made these or purchased them somewhere???

    • avatar Melanie reply

Abby: Happy Friday Abby! The creation of the corn hole boards was a family effort, aka a fun DIY project. If you love them and are interested in a possible order email me at [email protected]. Best, Melanie

[…] 1 | This wedding combines so many of my favorite things. But the best part is, hands down, the bride’s dress. Lovingly crafted by her mother, this crochet gown is a stunner. http://iloveswmag.com/2012/05/30/georgia-outdoor-chapel-wedding-by-the-reason/ […]

Coming from a small town in Wyoming, I can relate to many of these details in this wedding, which is the reason that by far, one of my all-time faves. I LOVE how the couple kept it tasteful and made it their own. They weren’t afraid to do what they wanted and all the while, celebrating their family and friends. What an amazing day – love the details.

I ADORE those signs on your chairs (I’m his Mrs. and I’m her Mr.), did you make those as well? This whole wedding is just an absolute dream. I love how true to yourselves you were while still making sure the guests had a good time and were part of the experience. The spiral setting is just genius!

Your wedding was absolutely beautiful!! I love your dress, it was beautiful and unique. This is a crazy question, but what did you use to write on your chalkboards? It didn’t look like chalk… I am using chalkboards that I made from silver trays and old picture frames in my wedding as well, and so far the chalk isn’t really working on them.

    • avatar Melanie reply

Ashley: I used plain ol’ chalk on the chalkboard windows, and a white paintpen on the silver trey menus.
