I am so excited to share this stunning wedding from one of my favorite photographers, {Marie Labbancz}.  Thank you so much, Marie for sharing these incredible details with us!  Sara + Christopher wedding is filled to the brim with loveliness.  Be sure to visit Marie’s blog for more: {PART I} and {PART II} of Sara + Christopher.

From Marie: “The two met as students at Penn State and have been together ever since. Many of their alumni friends were there to share their special day.  I fell in love with Sara’s gorgeous Vera Wang gown that she purchased at Suky Occasions. It’s such a new design that it is not even in the magazines yet. Check out the striking detail on the bodice. The wedding took place at the beautiful Winterthur Estate in Wilmington, Delaware. The beauty of the grounds of this former DuPont Estate is legendary and I was so fortunate to finally have the opportunity to photograph a wedding there. The flowers and décor were by the always amazing Donna O’Brien of Beautiful Blooms. I loved the gorgeous bay leaf garland down the ceremony aisle (yummy smell) and the crystals hanging in the green arch above their ceremony.  The wedding program “fan” that was very useful for a humid August wedding. Guests could open it up if they needed a little breeze! All the printed materials were by Two Paper Dolls. Sara loves the color orange so she knew she wanted that color strongly incorporated into her day. I loved the sweet bouquets. A real special detail on Sara’s bouquet, the lace and buttons are from the sleeve of her mothers wedding gown. After the ceremony Sara and Chris too a stroll the “Enchanted Woods” at Winterthur, and was it ever magical. It had thatched roof cabins, Magical Mushrooms and one of the best logs on the eastern seaboard. We had very limited time for couple portraits but the great grounds made it so easy to get very diverse images. I was totally WOWed by the reception décor. There were three different centerpieces. I loved the lanterns and the birds nest. Daddy serenaded Sara with a guitar solo of “Daddy’s Little Girl”. Very touching! The cutest detail were jars that had twinkling “fireflys” in them. They were so “sweet”. I actually thought they were firefly’s. I must find them for my next outdoor party!”

I LOVE Marie’s photography! I’ve been stalking her for over 9 years! I emailed her years ago when I was first starting out and she was so sweet in her response. I was thrilled to see SW feature one of her beautiful weddings.

  10. avatar Sara (The bride) reply

The firefly jars came from artandartifact.com. They’re actually made by the same people who make the boyd’s bears! They’re battery operated in the lid, which isn’t secure. I added some reindeer moss to the jars themselves to make it a little more realistic. :)Thank you all for your complements! We had a fabulous day…and Marie is, without a doubt, hands down, THE BEST.

  11. avatar Sara (again) reply

One more thing…The fireflies flicker like they’re actual fireflies. Pretty cute. When I first saw them I thought to myself, "well, these are either going to be really cool, or really tacky." They ended up being such a unique sweet little touch. Most people were pretty surprised by them.

Okay, how about these flowers?!  Stunning, right?  The huge centerpieces are comprised of a variety of striking florals:  white fuji mums, glads, lilies, and my personal favorites, bells of Ireland.  The floral team of Doug Carter mixed up the arrangement style by incorporating some tight pomander balls of circus roses.  I just love the effect that this has on the space!  Thanks {Gandy Photographers} for sharing this colorful photos with us.  Be sure to visit their {BLOG} for many, many more images of this festive event. Catering/Event Planning: Covington’s Catering, Wedding Coordinator: Paula Martinez, Cake: Red Velvet Bakery, Videography: Doug Sebastian Productions, American wedding dress: Rivini, Indian wedding dress: Ritu Kumar   Enjoy~ Rachel

Our favorite detail of the wedding was:  The flowers. Everywhere you looked, there was an abundance of beautiful flowers.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day?  Having all my friends dancing around me to the song Xanadu. It was like a Broadway musical – completely ridiculous, yet the most fun I’ve ever had.
Scariest moment?  Our first dance. We had a crash course dance lesson the day before the wedding. Somehow it all worked out.
Why do you love your husband?  Deepak is the most genuine and generous person I know.
The most unexpected event on our wedding day was:  All the weather forecasts strongly predicted rain for our wedding day. It turned out to be the perfect day to have an outdoor ceremony.
How was your wedding different than the way you’d always imagined it would be?  It was much bigger and grander than I thought it would be.
Three adjectives that describe the day are:  Perfect, perfect, perfect.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding?  We would suggest plenty of patience, time in advance for planning and expecting something to go wrong on the wedding day and being mentally prepared to deal with it. Having a “day of” planner is crucial as is having someone with the experience and connections to keep vendors in line and the plan on schedule. It’s helpful to come to the table with a very clear idea of what you want and picking people who can help you realize that idea and improve upon it.

Congratulation Susan + Deepak! We wish you a lifetime of happiness!
