Hi friends! After five fabulous, fun, and very exhausting days at Bridal Market, Kristin and I are home sweet home, and excited to share our adventure! If you’re a longtime reader, you may remember that we usually do a series of Bridal Market recaps to show you our favorite designs from every show. We decided to do things a little differently this year, sharing all of the gorgeousness live via Instagram (we used #SWBridalMarket so it’s super easy to find our posts!) and on Snapchat, and using the blog to show you some behind the scenes peeks at what a crazy day at Market is like, plus some exclusive backstage looks at some of our favorite shows. The talented Kat Harris tagged along with us on our first afternoon of Market, and I’m giddy with excitement to share what she captured along the way!

Thanks to wakeup calls of 4 and 6 AM before our flights from Orlando and Raleigh respectively, there was no way Kristin and I were trusting ourselves to get Market-ready, so as soon as we got off the plane, we beelined to Drybar. We joked that this was possibly one of our best ideas of the trip–it was so nice to take a breather and mentally prepare for the day while someone else took charge of giving us pretty curls and Southern volume!

With our hair in place, we headed through Bryant Park to the New York Public Library to go over our notes and schedule and make sure our game plan for the day was set. As brief as this stop was, it was extra special to me–my mom used to eat lunch on these steps every day when she worked in publishing in Manhattan! I love thinking about her sitting in that same spot when she was around my age.

Ducks in a row and papers in order, we hopped into a taxi to Carolina Herrera‘s showroom (see photos here and here) and then to Lela Rose‘s presentation (here and here!). In the meantime, Kat headed over to the studio where the Anne Barge show was being held to capture some photos backstage. She was the only photographer there, so we’re thrilled that these photos are exclusive to SW and a special peek just for y’all!

The Anne Barge Fall 2016 collection was full of classic silhouettes, sweet touches of lace, and just the right number of unexpected details (hello, high-low skirt!)…plus, the most adorable flower girls! We love the Southern sensibility Anne designs with–all of her gowns are totally wearable for a stylish belle.

After the show, Kristin hailed a taxi like a pro and we were off to Canoe Studios for Marchesa! Isn’t her Camilyn Beth dress the cutest?

Stay tuned for Part 2 this afternoon!

I love these posts! I’m glad you gals had a fun time. Seriously, there’s nothing better than stepping off of a plane & then heading to get a blowout AND THEN going to see some pretty gowns. Amen for big hair!

A big part of what makes this time of year feel so cozy is what you wear. It doesn’t feel like fall has officially started to me until I pull my scarves and favorite boots out from the back of the closet! With this in mind, we asked a few sweet, Southern bloggers to style our favorite “Love Never Fails” tee from the Southern Weddings Shop for fall, and I’m delighted to introduce the first gal today. Cynthia blogs at Darling Down South, and along with being a fabulous Atlanta blogger, she’s also a bride-to-be! Since she and her beau are tying the knot in just a few short weeks, I especially love that they took this chance to steal away for a little date night to relax before the big day.

From Cynthia:

“One of my favorite colors to wear is pink. When autumn comes around, most people opt to start pulling out their neutrals and deep olives, but I can’t give up the vibrancy of the color pink: there’s something about it that is just so uplifting for the soul during the cloudy weather! When my fiancé (we’re getting married on October 23!) and I decided to have a little date night the other week, I couldn’t wait to dress up this Love Never Fails tee with a Two Penny Blue fuchsia blazer, distressed denim from DL1961 and the perfect fall neutral: leopard heels. One of our favorite areas to have date night is Historic Decatur in Atlanta. With a vibrant restaurant scene and buzzing with eclectic individuals, it not only has great food options for all palates, but offers some amazing patio-side people watching as well. I think the color pink is timeless so long as you chose the right pink for the season. This Two Penny Blue blazer comes in a lot of colors, but I went with the darker jeweled tone fuchsia, which is perfect an autumn wardrobe and contrasts nicely against the yellows and reds of changing leaves. It was the perfect evening out before our big day!”

Love the tee as much as we do? Pick one up for yourself here!

One of our favorite wedding budgeting tips is to sit down with your fiancé early on and come up with your top three priorities for your big day (our Planner even has a worksheet for this!). Whether you have $10,000 or $100,000 to spend, there are probably always going to be things you’ll want to splurge on, as well as places where you’ll want to save a few pennies. Choosing your priorities can help you allocate your budget accordingly, and if you’re electing to save on your gown, it’s so wonderful to know that there are lots of gorgeous options out there at an affordable price point! One of our favorite places to start the search? David’s Bridal.

Their newest collection for Fall 2015, Jewel, was inspired by brides who are embracing traditional, black tie weddings. This is great news for gals with their hearts set on throwing a formal wedding–all of the gowns are under $1,500, so instead of splurging on your gown, you can choose a fabulous venue or serve an extra decadent dinner to your guests! There is tons of variety in the collection, from opulent styles featuring lots of sparkly crystal accents, to sleek, modern styles with architectural shapes, to tailored twists on lace gowns. Any of them would fit right in at a ritzy hotel ballroom (we especially love The Brown Hotel in Louisville!), a chic country club, or a sophisticated plantation home!

Clockwise from top left: Organza Ball Gown with Ruffled Skirt, Tulle Ball Gown with Crystal Bodice, Satin Mermaid Gown with Beaded Square Neckline, Lace Cap Sleeve Trumpet Gown with Illusion Neck Style, 3/4 Sleeve Off the Shoulder Trumpet Gown, Satin Cutout A-Line Tank Gown with Watteau Train

Lovely, aren’t they? All gowns come in sizes 0-14, and many are offered in petite, plus, and tall sizes as well. Grab your best gals and try on your favorite at one of David’s Bridal’s 300+ locations, or place an order online (hint: David’s Bridal often has great sales and free shipping!).

What are you saving and splurging on for your big day? We’d love to hear!
