Love the mason jar idea for gifts for our wedding guests. Such a great suggestion.

While Perkins + Wickliffe’s ceremony alone might have qualified for most Southern, their reception takes it to another level and is just further proof that Southerners can throw a party the good ole’ fashioned way — chock full of traditions, love and fun. Like Perkins said, “it was either go big or elope!” The reception at the bride’s parents’ home included a cake pull (for all 15 bridesmaids and the mother of the bride, y’all!), a raw bar including wahoo that the bride and groom caught themselves, cowboy hats and tambourines, and toasting goblets hand blown by a good friend of the newlyweds. The tire swing, drink koozies and hay are just the icing on the cake! We can’t thank Jodi Miller Photography enough for sharing!

See all the photos from Perkins + Wickliffe’s wedding in their Real Wedding Gallery!

Describe your wedding flowers: Daisies and in-season flowers with a very loose garden theme.
Describe your wedding cake or dessert: My sister-in-law made my cake and it was simply white, three-tiered with six accent cakes that were all different flavors covered in white daisies and greenery. The main cake tier that we ate was pumpkin, our favorite.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Size. We are both from huge families and have lots of different groups of friends from various parts of our lives. It was either go big or elope!
What is the one thing you are most happy you splurged on? The music and having two bands that featured our love for bluegrass and Motown.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Seeing Wickliffe smile as I walked down the aisle.
Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? No, but our readings were the Irish Wedding Blessing and a scripture reading from the Book of John 15: 9-12 that were very meaningful to us.
What advice do you have for folks currently planning a wedding? Enjoy every minute because it is one of the best days of your life!
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? One day moving South and having a farm of our own.

I think I would get along great with this Southern bride! I am planning my wedding for next June on my mom’s farm and I have already planned on incorporating at least half of the elements that Perkins beautifully pulled off in this fabulous wedding: bury the bourbon, the dog/best friend wedding party member :), Southern food (obvi), cowboy boots, hay bales, lace dress, Motown band, and a farm reception, all while pulling it off all so elegantly! Thanks for featuring this wedding – it confirms that a farm wedding can be elegant and classy, and anything but redneck.

Our Monthly Real Wedding Round-Ups are always one of my favorites to put together and write. Taking a look back on October and November’s weddings with Sierra and Whitney was so much fun. We love so many things about each of the weddings we post, and rediscovering the highlights from them makes our hearts happy and our Pinterest boards fill up. Without further ado, let’s take a look!

FAVORITE WEDDING DRESS: With a dreamy fabric, sweet straps and a bow in the back, Whitney couldn’t resist Marilisa’s dress. Suzanne’s lacy white gown with a creamy sash took Sierra’s vote, while I couldn’t help but add Ashley’s rosette and bow-backed dress to my list of highlights.

FAVORITE BRIDESMAID DRESS: Of course, we had to give major kudos to the lovely ladies who stood by our brides’ sides on their big day. The neutral-hued and mix-and-match dresses that Ashley’s ‘maids sported caught my eye. Caroline’s pink and green bridesmaids’ dresses were a favorite of Sierra’s and it was the bright coral frocks from Suzanne’s wedding that won Whitney over.

FAVORITE FEMALE ACCESSORY: Being the classic Southern gal that she is, Whitney was smitten with Ashley’s accessories. Pearls and hankies? We couldn’t love them more! I, personally, loved the pink wildflower hair wreaths from Stephanie + Erik’s wedding. Sierra couldn’t choose just one — both the sparkly flats and the adorable flower girl headbands from Melissa + Matthew’s wedding stole her heart.

FAVORITE MENSWEAR: I love seeing how our dapper Southern gents dress on the big day! Melissa + Matthew’s family won me over. The plaid beret, snazzy blazer and fun pennants? Who couldn’t love that? Sierra had to give a big kudos to the gentlemen in Marilisa + Taylor’s wedding. They rocked the blue gingham and yellow boutonnieres, effectively stealing our hearts. But it was the velvet-wrapped boutonnieres from Stephanie + Erik’s wedding that took the cake for Whitney.

FAVORITE DETAIL: I’m sure it was Sierra’s design-savvy that made Caroline + Tyler’s letterpressed invitations shoot to the top of her highlights. For Whitney, it was the custom embroidery on the ties at Melissa + Matthew’s wedding that made the cut. Embroidery stole my heart, too, with Jamie + Dan’s his and hers chair covers.

FAVORITE BOUQUET: Caroline’s lush bouquet with unexpected snow on the mountain was a favorite of Sierra’s. Whitney was a big fan of Suzanne’s classic white bouquet. I loved the simple green and white arrangements carried by Ashley’s bridesmaids.

FAVORITE SWEET: The Southern Weddings gals have a collectively large sweet tooth, so pulling the highlights under this category always comes with laughs (and cravings). For Whitney, the hummingbird cake and sweet favors from Jamie + Dan’s wedding won out. Sierra couldn’t help but love Caroline + Tyler’s swiss-dotted and peony-topped cake. Always the pie-fan, I was smitten with the welcoming pie bar at Melissa + Matthew’s wedding.

FAVORITE PHOTO: Southern and sweet, Marilisa + Taylor’s photo by the hay bale was one of Sierra’s favorites. For Whitney, love won out in two weddings. The sweet kisses shared by Suzanne + Keith and Stephanie + Erik made her heart melt. I couldn’t help but fall for the joy and happiness that came with Jamie + Dan’s sparkler send-off.
